When Obie started hissing and swatting at the end, I imagine Mayonnaise appearing to him like Darth Sidious in Star Wars.. "youre fulfilling your destiny, Obie...become my apprentice..learn to use the dark side of the force"
I had a Norwegian Forest cat a long time ago, and he was incredibly zen and mellow about everything. He also loved water. I never gave him a full bath, but he always insisted on going into the shower right after I used it and rolled around in the water puddles on the floor. He also loved it when I combed out his fur and it became our greeting ritual every day when I got home form work. He was a wonderful and sweet cat and twenty years later I still miss him...
It's a shame, but the fact that you miss an animal for so long just shows you how strong the bond was and what a wonderful time you had together ❤ I also still miss my cat that I grew up with. And i will always remember her.
I had a little tabby girl that ruined things for any future cats. She was the standard that I measure all cats by. 12 years after she passed and none have measured up to my Rascal.
2 yrs ago we found an 8 week old kitten in the parking lot of Whole Foods with those colors. Little did we know he would turn out to be a Beautiful Norwegian Forest cat. 15 lbs and still growing and such a big lovable teddy bear. 🥰😸
That brown tabby with white is the most common NFC color pattern. Ours was a retired show cat that was solid pure white with big blue eyes ( hearing was fine). The story we got was that he fought being bathed so much before shows that they tried sedation but decided that was just too hard on him so they retired him instead. We took him to the groomer that our Somali loved ("I've never had a a cat before that snuggled up to me while I was trimming their claws") to get him a good thorough bath to get rid of an ugly dark "stud tail" stain at the base of his tail. "He only scratched me once" plus he came home with the stain gone.
His tail stops whipping the moment he's touched with affection. What a sweet kitty, he must be very loved to find human touch so instantly comforting even during strange experience.
It was Obie being angry that he was being brushed but also pulling the brush closer so that one side of his face could be brushed that got to me. That was hilarious. When he wasn't disliking being groomed he was liking being groomed. And he was so quiet while in the bathtub. Not a hiss, not a meow, not a purr nothing. What a floofy little character he is.
It's funny that you mentioned cats fighting when one of them comes back from grooming. This happened with 2 of my previous kitties. One never had to go to the groomer, and the other would have to go periodically. I finally had to tell the groomer to stop spraying the cologne bc my other cat wouldn't recognize my groomed kitty, and would not accept him back in the house. At that point, they'd been together for 7 years and got on so well. They'd often groom each other and snuggle together and such, but when I brought the one back smelling like a million bucks, the knives came out. When she stopped spraying Admiral down, Duncan stopped having an issue.
We had a similar problem. One dog had to have the full shavedown treatment. Came out bearing an unfortunate resemblance to a large pig. Rather pink, slightly rotund, even her tail curled into a spiral. The smaller dog kept barking at her since she now smelled different. She was mystified at this reception. The cats were too busy laughing to do anything at all.
@@MGower4465Thanks for that visual 😂 I have had a dog that had to be shaven almost entirely (roadside accident rescue with unknown injuries) who for the longest time also looked like an unfortunate cross between a pig and an old stuffed animal that has survived a few generations 😂
My mum’s Keeshond came home from grooming completely shaved. His sister growled at him and refused to let him near her until his hair grew back. The poor boy was very upset and happily milked it as much as he could
I absolutely love the idea of a cat named Admiral. I now want a whole herd of cats named Captain, General, Admiral, Commander, Lieutenant, Colonel, and so on
i like how at the start (00:29) when you are checking for any matting, it basically looks like you shoved your hand into a big pile of floof with judging eyes
Their floof is infamous. Ours was solid white; by the time he was about 9 the outer coat on his back was so long that you could only see about 2 inches of his legs and feet when he was standing. Miss that guy.

I had a Norwegian Forest cat. He was an indoor/outdoor cat which I didn't like but he ruled the roost!! He was abandoned by his owner where I once lived. I decided to take him and his brother with me when I moved. He didn't like anyone else but me. At night he had to sleep on my head and would purr so loud I couldn't get to sleep sometimes. Also during the summer I would have him shaved to help keep him cool. I would get the lion's cut. It was amazing how skinny he looked when shaved. He was mostly fur. lol. But believe me he was well fed just never seemed to gain any weight. He stayed the same weight until he had to be put to sleep because he had a stroke and the vet suggested that I put him to sleep. I miss him.

My Norwegian Forest Cat is 7 years old and similar in size (15/16 lbs). Her coat is longer and very fine, under coat most likely the same. When she rolls on her side with hind leg in the air, that's her signal to get her belly combed :) I am very well trained. Her brush is a Christensen wood pin brush. She has traveled to 12 states and 2 provinces, walks in her harness, is fearless and makes me laugh every day. I will replay this video so she can maybe learn how to behave at the spa....thanks, Vanessa!

Our cats had designated blankets they would cuddle with. It was so cute because an aunt had crocheted them so they coordinated and they each only cuddled with their own. Whenever they went to the vet or groomers we would take both the blankets and a pillow case of ours but keep them in the carrier. Then when they were done they would get their smell, our smell and the other cat's smell on the way home and it helped a lot. We also sort of reintroduced them outside where it was more neutral. We had leads for both cats so t was easy to guide them.
I had a cat who would only sit still for brushing if he was nibbling a little fur. Otherwise, he'd chase and bite the brush. I think he thought if he was getting groomed, he should be swallowing fur. I only let him have a little. He was a domestic short-hair with the softest fur and shed heavily.
I used to have a cat who would do that same exact thing with brushes. Don't know if there tryna eat their hair or maybe there so used to grooming with their mouth they instinctively think there helping or just motivating the brush to do better somehow 😂
This was a very cooperative Forrest Cat !! The ones we've had were not that willing to be manhandled this much !! 😆😁🥰😍 I love your channel ! Best regards from Norway !!
I pictured what he was trying to tell Vanessa about that was, "Look lady, I'm trying to compromise with you here. You can brush my face all you want but do NOT touch my pantaloons!"
@@markvogel5872 No, not really. There may be individuals that has ran away from their homes and become "wild" or homeless, but that's not many. However, a very long time ago, these were supposed to be a wild species. We do have a bigger wild type of cats, the Lynx, in our forests today though.
@@josteingravvik2381 My husband was teasing that he wants a bigger cat, and he had a Canadian lynx around his hunting blind last year. He claimed he was going to bring it home (he was kidding).
I am owned by a beautiful similarly colored Siberian Forest cat. The actions and reactions Obie showed throughout the grooming were nearly identical to hers. She LOVES to be brushed and groomed but then... there comes a point she seems to get annoyed with the hair being pulled and tries to bite the brush and grab my arm to hold me sit. Purring the entire time and letting me get out all the loose floof, which she has a ton of. Her shirts, ruff, and pantaloons are 4 inches or longer and she is just covered in fur right now. Love my baby girl, though. :) Thanks for sharing Obie with us.
All 3 Forest Cat breeds are closely related so your Siberian's behavior is no surprise. I miss my big white Weegie boy fiercely, but I'm certain that the big black shelter boy I have now has a generous dose of Maine Coon in his background. They're all wonderful.
Hi, I'm from Finland. And instead of watching 'war' happening in my neighbourhood in my flood came this. And when I need more relaxed thing: I follow this grooming site. Along how our grandmoms survived with things they had to make food. ❤😂
There were always hissy fits when one cat came home from a vet visit in my 2-3 cat household. Sometimes paws were even thrown. It usually lasted for 3-4 hours until the smell dissipated.
Mine are pretty tolerant and just stay far away from each other after the vet, but even I noticed a different smell on them after a vet visit. Helps if I clean them with a pet wipe (since they recognize that smell), or rub them in a used blanket/towel post vet visit.
Your cats were very forgiving ... it was a good two days or more before my female Ragdoll x Maine Coon stopped giving my Norwegian Forest Cat the hairdryer treatment (hissing in his face). He'd been having life-saving treatment at the vet's for a bladder stone and had been away from home about 48 hours. Same thing happened to the female Rag-Coon's own brother when he was away for a serious gastro issue which saw him lose 1kg in weight (a 6th of his normal weight) and turned out to be a chicken allergy ... I felt so sorry for my boys getting such mean treatment after their harrowing experiences 😓.
Obi reminds me so much of my Norwegian Forest Cat that I had. She also had a habit of biting the hair brush 😂! When I had to brush her all over, her timer went off after 3 minutes, but getting brushed on her head and cheeks could go on forever - she really leaned into the brush with her cheeks ♥️! I miss her so so much ♥️. 💕
He saved his vocal number for the dryer 😂😂 What an adorable cat! 💕 So tolerant and those half-hearted swats 🥰 I think the Happy Hoodie put him in “froze” mode ;)
I never really realise how big my Norwegian forest cat is until I see her next to my other cat (a tomcat). She’s literally huge, her paws, claws and teeth are massive and she is like a MEGA FLOOF. She looks big and scary but her meows come out like the little squeaks of a defenceless kitten. Makes for a great pillow for cuddling lol
@@IsabelS-g2z Wait until you have one that decides that they want YOUR pillow. One at even 14 lbs like my Snow was an awful pillow hog; many mornings I would wake up with my head on the sheets below my pillow with him curled up taking the whole thing.
Good for the rage cage and hv dryer but needed rescuing from the easy bake oven lol. And even though hissing isn't very nice I gotta say he was so cute while doing it!!! What a big beautiful boy!!
The previous stablecat here was a norwegian forest cat, bit of a runt, but an amazing mouse hunter. We are not 100% sure how old she was before she passed but most likely close to 20 years old. Super gentle cat with people she knew or accepted and amazing fisher when joining her family up the mountain.
I throughly enjoyed this cat because I had a Norwegian Forrest cat and she was a big girl. She was 13 pounds in her prime, double coat, and dandruff. This brought back memories. My Inkie was solid black oh she was a sweet heart. I look at this grooming session and she would have tolerated the combing, the clipping, the bath, but the blow dryer forget it. I always groomed my girl myself. My Ink died over 20 years ago I still miss her. Weggies are wonderful cats and I highly recommend them
I have a very similar cat, I found him on the street before winter when he was a few weeks old, but I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same breed as in the video. My cat is an angel, has never done anything wrong and always greets us when we come home. They behave very similarly. One thing I've noticed is that they don't like to be brushed from behind and they love to be brushed around the head. They don't attack unless they are really upset or scared, they don't meow and they don't eat anything from strangers. They are very wary cats and their trust must be earned.
He really seems to get it that if he just stays calm, it all goes much easier. He just wants it to be clear that he's got his limits. The happy hoodie is probably the most perfect thing for cats, though it's great for certain dogs too I'm sure. He absolutely appreciates the work you do, clearly. Happy Holidays!
8:59 100% right: Our two Siamese cats are brothers from the same litter and have only been separated once; while I foolishly washed the mess off one after he had diarrhoea. To add injury to insult (because that’s how it played out), the unwashed brother was inconsolable and completely enraged by the disappearance of his brother and the arrival of an imposter. It took a whole week of helicopter caring before they began to reconnect. It was dreadful. Since then, if one needs a foot or bottom washed, they’re in the bathroom together and both get the same treatment, next to each other.
Obie says .... no meows for you missy! Hè's biting the brush because he wants his hair back! You stole an awful lot of future hairball material! Take care Venessa✂& Camera Man🎥.... hope you guys are having a very nice weekend 🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩🐺🐈🐈⬛🐻🐯✌🏻🍁
The character arc in this story is wonderful. Chapter 1: Vanessa’s slave days began during the feline bread loaf phase Chapter 2: Very demure, very mindful, during Zen spa experience Chapter 3: Breaks free of happy hoody and begins plotting revenge in easy-bake oven Chapter 4: Kitty timer runs-out and Vanessa is disarmed, and Kitty wins the war, looking good.
what a good boy. he just didn't like being in a small space :( or his legs being brushed/touched which is normal for cats. but he was also a bit silly 🤭
19:43 he’s trying to brush his teeth - my void literally begs for it! 😂 seriously loves it. And I never use a metal brush either because she hates them - I use a Mason Pearson knockoff by Denman containing Boar and nylon bristles - she will have nothing but!! And so do I - I never use ANY other brush. I honestly want to try the Kent & Sons brushes. They are both very expensive. These are heirloom quality brushes and the Denman is a very good substitute! ✨🕊️💚☘️💚🕊️✨
the little fluff under the feetsies is there to protect paws from cold. My Norwegian queen hates it when I remove it. she's indoor strictly due to disabilities. She is also verbal but only when it suits her! ofc
He did remarkably well! But when he was over it, he made that very clear. Way to hang in there, Vanessa, and get this big puff ball groomed. Pretty kitty.
He is such a beautiful boy. He was very good for the groom even made sure he got all the spots including the tummy. He is just making sure to get his money worth lol.
Gorgeous cat! he was very affectionate (except when he hissed/swatted but then he was rubbing his mouth into the brush trying to eat it 😀). He's a big boy with a big personality! I love his coloring of his coat.

I was thinking the same
I think he’s scared of being alone the most. Relatable
Definitely how it seemed. He didn't care about the hot air but that little claustrophobic box alone was too much for him
Exactly what I thought, too! He just wants to be around someone.
Another difference is that he didn't have the happy hoodie on in the Easy-Bake oven. He had it on in the rage Cage.
hisses but slow blinks at the same time. he's fake mad lol
I had a cat just like that, absolutely adorable.
I've heard that translates to "stay away, I don't want to fight you"
The reason cats slow blink has been very misunderstood. It's not to "show love" but to ask for peace and signal their own willingness to be peaceful

Big cat, fairly quiet meow! What a handsome cat. Edited to add - my two try and eat the brushes! Bonkers!
@@jillebeanthe1st Yeah, he was being patient until the point where the patience tank had ran out !! 😆🥰
Do your forests have random versions of this cat running around in them?
Thanks for sharing Obie with us.
All 3 Forest Cat breeds are closely related so your Siberian's behavior is no surprise. I miss my big white Weegie boy fiercely, but I'm certain that the big black shelter boy I have now has a generous dose of Maine Coon in his background. They're all wonderful.
Obi is an exquisite Norwegian Forest Cat and a Jedi Master
The happy hoodie seemed to work really well on this guy.
Your coordination providing head scratches while brushing is very impressive! And I love you using "pantaloons" in that context, funny!
Every time I hear rage cage or easy bake oven it makes me smile!
I’m so addicted to your channel! So wholesome and entertaining and I love the way you express yourself. Hugs from Australia ♥️
I love your sense of humor!! Not to mention that adorable cat. Great entertainment. You are a animal whisperer!!!
19:39. 😂😂😂 He only wants to be brushed on his head and face. Everything else is off limits!
Stunning Norwegian Forest cat.
my NFC loves to be brushed. She's so good. But we worked on her grooming and nail trims since kittenhood. Love NFCs :D
Norwegian Forest Cats are the best! I had an NFC/Maine Coon mix and she was the sweetest 😍😻🐈
@@debs.9612 they really are, mines such a love bug
NFC as an abbreviation sounds like the newest blockchain fad... but its just an adorable kitty!
The hoodie squishing cats faces is always so cute 🥺
Smiles. A beautiful groom for a beautiful cat. Hugs, pets and thank you. 💙🌻🌟🎆🌟🌻💙
Vanessa, thank you SO much for this channel and the teachings you have provided. I love your products as well. ❤️
💯
Obie has such fabulous colors and that luxurious FLUFFY coat!!!! ❤❤❤
He is soooooooo beautiful!!! And I love his meow!!!
The paws on the tub, so cute!!!! ☺️
I think Obie is claustrophobic! 😮😥
He was super patient considering how long his tail has been wiping. :'D I died when he ate the brush
You could see the exact moment his timer ran out and he got fed up ^^'
That being said tho, what a polite, distinguished fluffball :D
The previous stablecat here was a norwegian forest cat, bit of a runt, but an amazing mouse hunter. We are not 100% sure how old she was before she passed but most likely close to 20 years old. Super gentle cat with people she knew or accepted and amazing fisher when joining her family up the mountain.
He saved the worst for last😂😂😂
He was perfect!!! He is so gorgeous & I want to cuddle with him forever!!!😍😍😍😍😍💖💖
Lovely cat and great temperament. He could teach my two a lot 😂. The reminder at the end he is a cat and armed was funny though. ❤
Weggies are wonderful cats and I highly recommend them
5:41 “What are you doing Kitty Cat?” Cat:”Weighing my options. It doesn’t look like a long jump from here”.
Thank you for all you do Vanessa! I hope you have an amazing 2025
Wouldn't it be great if all cats were like that? What an Angel ! 🐾🐾
2:07 I love how you decided to speak up louder so the cat can hear you despite the happy hoodie omg,,, and the complete lack of reaction
19:33 my old cat ALWAYS did that with her brush!! she passed a year ago today...the sound of obie's face on the bristles took me right back...
I'm becoming addicted to your videos. Your calm and soothing voice not only relaxes the dogs, I find it relaxing too.
I have a Norwegian Forest Cat mix. He’s intelligent, beautiful, chatty and loving. There’s something amazing about their personality.
kitty is charging up the miaus... I bet he will be heard at home
15:44 he found his voice XD
8:59 100% right: Our two Siamese cats are brothers from the same litter and have only been separated once; while I foolishly washed the mess off one after he had diarrhoea. To add injury to insult (because that’s how it played out), the unwashed brother was inconsolable and completely enraged by the disappearance of his brother and the arrival of an imposter. It took a whole week of helicopter caring before they began to reconnect. It was dreadful. Since then, if one needs a foot or bottom washed, they’re in the bathroom together and both get the same treatment, next to each other.
He looks so fierce and yet he's so sweet!❤
10:20 You’re going to need a bigger tub.😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Obie says .... no meows for you missy! Hè's biting the brush because he wants his hair back! You stole an awful lot of future hairball material! Take care Venessa✂& Camera Man🎥.... hope you guys are having a very nice weekend 🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩🐺🐈🐈⬛🐻🐯✌🏻🍁
The easy bake oven 🤣❤️
Of all the things he disliked the most it was the thing that affected him the least 🤣
Would love it if you did a tour of your salon. I'm so curious to see everything there. 😄
You look like Marisa Tomei! Obie is sooooo cute. We had 2 Norwegian Forest Cats who were the smartest, sweetest, people-loving cats we ever had.
What a great beautiful cat! The lack of reaction made me laugh! - watching from Lake Wales, Florida
Lake Wales is beautiful!
Obie is absolutely beautiful! Only got a little spicy at the end!❤
12:07 "We are calm, we are zen🎵🎶"😂
“A tad bit strange” all the best cats (and dogs, and people, etc) are lol
He is sooooo adorable!!! I want one 😭🩵
The character arc in this story is wonderful.
Chapter 1: Vanessa’s slave days began during the feline bread loaf phase
Chapter 2: Very demure, very mindful, during Zen spa experience
Chapter 3: Breaks free of happy hoody and begins plotting revenge in easy-bake oven
Chapter 4: Kitty timer runs-out and Vanessa is disarmed, and Kitty wins the war, looking good.
Norwegian Forest cats are so beautiful, I love long haired cats and I love bigger breeds
what a good boy. he just didn't like being in a small space :( or his legs being brushed/touched which is normal for cats. but he was also a bit silly 🤭
The whiskers on the legs were probably too sensitive.
Such a nice temper! Quite jealous of the people who were blessed with such a wonderful cat. :)
He does have MASSIVE PAWS 🐾 😍 ❤️ 😂😂😂 so cute and adorable.
The happy hoodie completely paralyzed his vocal cords, Never said a word till it was off. Such a regal gentleman.
The only thing he's said so far: "I'm claustrophobic! Get me out of this dryer!"
She is also verbal but only when it suits her! ofc
2024 has definitely been the year of the cats for Vanessa! Happy new year babe! Thank you for all your videos, they have made me so happy🥳🎉😘❤
He did remarkably well! But when he was over it, he made that very clear. Way to hang in there, Vanessa, and get this big puff ball groomed. Pretty kitty.
17:05 why’d you take it away? It’s his birthright to push it off the table 😂
Norwegian forest cats are wonderful pets! Very mellow, very sweet.
What a patient and tolerant cat. I think he enjoyed most of the brushing (tummy excepted). He looks beautiful.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND I LOVE THIS BREED OF CAT, LETS GO WOOO!
He is very vocal! What a good kitty, until he got tired of it all. Bless him.
What a fluffy kitty 😻
Cats have a more sensitive sense of smell than dogs.
Adorable kitty.😊 He chose passive-aggressive behavior during his session.
What a handsome boy, finally vocal after being washed, sweet boy with a big heart ❤️!!
