Thank you Vanessa for taking such great care of Leo during his grooming session! It was his first grooming since we adopted him. He came home looking so fluffy, smelling amazing, and incredibly calm. Such a gorgeous floof. Fairly calm, too, for being in a strange place and getting scary things done. He took most of the process in stride. Just scared of the dryer.
What people don't seem to understand that comment those things, is that it doesn't really matter how well a cat is taken care off, if youre doing something to it it doesn't like, it WILL try to stop you. The intensity of that reaction can be tapered, but if a cat is not used to something and/or doesn't like it, it will try to get that thing to stop. If its a gentle cat or one that isn't that upset, it will be gentle. But otherwise, if you continue it for long enough, and they dislike the thing enough, they will do whatever they can to get away. Its not a failing of the cat or its owner that the cat is scared.
Well said. What I need to add is that, sometimes gentle cats don't scratch you because they want to scratch you but because they're trying to get away and it just happens. Though obviously scared and angry cats might just slap you with their paw. My cat is very, very gentle and understands that scratching hurts us. But when she's really, really scared of something and you'll try to hold her, she'll wriggle her way out at the same time scratching you because she tries to hold onto you to get away. And as I see people forget that cat might behave very differently without familiar faces around and in completely different place that smells like other pets. As an owner, you can't expect how cat will react if you leave them for couple of hours somewhere else without them. I would panic like crazy if someone would drive me to some lady and lock me there without explanation, haha.
So sad when you know they are scared. But, every time you call that dryer easy bake oven, I just laugh so hard. I am old enough to remember the original easy bake I got for Christmas.

It's clear that you love cats, you use a lot of time of the grooming session to confort and calm them, you try to make them comfortable but cats are cats and they will never be relaxed about it.
Yes, minus cats that are introduced to water play and grooming at a young age! Especially when they are still with their siblings. Genetically, there are more cats who like water than cats that don’t; however, the majority of those cats need early introduction. The best way is to get a small tub that the kittens can get into easily, put the cats around it, fill it up with warm water just enough for those little electronic fishes to swim around in (or use real fish if it doesn’t bother you) and once one kitten gets in..the rest will follow! Then as they get used to it, you can introduce them to a bigger tub, more water, and start practicing some grooming things. Always good to have a heater in the room and of course you must dry them right away because kittens can’t regulate their temperature well, but if you start it at the right age that isn’t as much of a worry. That’s also another good reason to keep kittens together for longer. Personally, I think kittens and puppies shouldn’t be separated from their moms until at least 12weeks. And for puppies, I always feel it’s best they are with _both_ parents because from 8-12 weeks and beyond, the daddy dog teaches the puppies a lot about manners, survival, and how to interact with other dogs and people. I don’t think cats need the same thing (but I could be wrong) but I have seen the difference between dogs only with their mom, only with their mom for a lesser amount of time, with both mom and dad for a longer period of time than most do, and with both mom and dad for only the required amount of time..and the puppies with both parents and for longer ALWAYS end up being the absolutely smartest dogs that are great around all other dogs and people. I have seen cats with only mom and mom and dad, but I haven’t had somebody experienced tell me the psychological impacts on their breeding and how it impacts the puppies for the future. It would be interesting to learn though because cats are very complex. In most Asian countries, they even have cat psychologists that can help so many people and their cats to understand what is wrong and what they need, or can do better. Cats and dogs all have their own ways of communication, but they also are individuals just like humans and so many people think they know how these animals communicate from things they’ve been told, but don’t really understand. Anyways, I just thought that would be interesting to share. Sorry for going off topic 😂 but I do think it’s interesting how more cats than not are genetically good around water, but many of those species have to be taught early on. The term “Scaredy cat” didn’t come outta nowhere, after-all! Cats are just as curious as they are cautious though, and when kittens are with people or older animals they trust and have the freedom in the right environment to explore, they absolutely will end up getting in that water! Even if it takes a little bit of time.

Most of them don't like strangers and they most certainly don't like strangers touching them. But most importantly, they lack the "will to please" that many dogs have. I love my cats for that reason, but that also means cats do not have this mechanism were they can learn to surpress impulses in order to try and please their humans - let alone strangers. They don't care for praise much unless it comes with a reward they like. So when their impulse is "This scares me, I want to get away" they will not consider if them clawing their way out will hurt you. They also will see you as part of the problem very readily, since they don't see humans as good by default, while many dogs do. So if you brush them and they don't like it, they have no reservations about striking. It is how they communicate with each other too - a quick hit on the head often settles disputes. I think I see Vanessas next long format UA-cam channel! Full length ASMR videos of cats drying in the new dryer called. 'Tails from The Easy Bake Oven'!😂
My goodness. Some people are so ignorant and annoying. Simply use common sense. It’s not rocket science to know and understand exactly why Vanessa is a little more wary when grooming cats. It has absolutely nothing to do whether she likes cats or dogs better, besides the actual fact, majority of people in the world would prefer one over the other, although that doesn’t mean that they don’t like the other. It’s so frustrating when people go over the same negative rubbish. Oh and lastly, maybe there’s a reason majority of groomers will not groom cats. Maybe think before being so negative. Vanessa is everything and anything but negative. She is absolutely beautiful to ALL animals♥️😍🥰
I think cats are adorable, funny and sweet yet I keep getting told online I must be a terrible person that hates cats because I'm extremely wary of them. I've had to explain too many times that I like cats but I'm wary of them because a cat scratch sent me to the ER when I was 3. I'm severely allergic and asthmatic and the thought of being scratched again borderline gives me PTSD.
i agree. i’m a cat person and i adore them to bits, but i’m always very wary and cautious when i see them, never one to try and push my luck and pet them because i’m afraid of pain and would hate to get my hands/arms scratched when i’m not careful 😂
Wow, he did a lot better than I thought he would. At first, he looked daggers at you and I thought, oh no, this isn't going to be fun. Overall, he did great for a cat, and especially for a first groom! Glad you didn't get injured, too. I think you're very brave for still grooming cats after you got bit. I'd be scared to get near them! 👍😸
Everyone with a cat knows how they can be. Super cuddle buddy most of the time, but if they panic or get pissed off, they are murder machines and the wrath of them and all their ancestors will descend upon you. His "shove my face into it and howl" reaction to the easy bake oven so reminds me of how my cats used to be in their carriers lol
My Thor (long haired domestic) is ALL of that - He is a CHAMPION at hide and yeah you ain't gonna find me. I warned a vet one time "If he gets loose, he WILL hide on you and good luck after that!" They came back out and confirmed he tried to hide on them (emergency vet).
Question: Is there a bigger tub out there for when you have slightly bigger clients? Give you more room to scoop the water to bathe them with. Or would that not be practical?
@@_kingcastiel I've seen the shower, that's not why I asked. I wouldn't put Leo in the shower, however, I would possibly put him in a little bit larger tub than she's using. If Vanessa says "I don't use anything larger for XYZ reasons", that's perfectly fine. I asked because I was curious.
Vanessa your videos always make me feel like I can groom my cat easy, but then I go attempt it irl and my lovable monster makes my life hell lol! That just goes to show how GOOD you actually are at your job and how much you understand the animal. I really appreciate all the hard work you put into making the animal comfortable even though it’s not always easy ❤
For someone who doesn't own cats you are doing a really good job working on them and even as a cat daddy with a well behaved kitty I don't blame you for being more comfortable working on dog as are more trainable and a lot of them may enjoy baths and grooming whilst very few cats enjoy baths. Plus you can put on a muzzle to protect you from the teeth of cats and dogs but you can't really do anything to protect you from the claws.

03:20 these comments are sometimes just out of touch. Respecting and understanding animals and their needs, behaviour and knowing how to handle them safely (for yourself) and calm (for them) is much better than romaticized "oh I LOVE animals" that is only a one-way love, not taking in account the animals needs. If just one blink from the human could make everything easier, ahaha, vets would have it much easier. But, blinking works two ways, not one way. I love your content and cats faces in the easy bake oven 🤭
It's a thing to do repeatedly, like talking soothingly. It's part of projecting a calm and friendly attitude - "I mean well, I promise" is a much better lesson for the cat than not.
"look, I'm calm, I'm not afraid, I'm signalling that I trust you not to murder me in the half second my eyes are closed. You can relax and trust me in your turn."
So nicely done~your confident & serene way of dealing with Leo made the whole the clipping, bathing & comb out process much less stressful than it might have been. Next time Leo will be even less stressed.

OMGosh…you’re wonderful with all of your clients! I had a cat who suffered with horrible fear aggression and even with 300-600 mg of gabapentin on board…he was not easy at all. I could clip his nails, my sister and mom could help, but anyone else, no. It triggers me when you have a difficult cat but NOT because of how you speak to/about them. It’s my memories of him and how loving he was to me, and how I couldn’t take him for routine care without warning to the vet’s staff. My avatar picture here is Cosmo. My 17lb of love. He was Turkish angora, with heterochromia, and I miss him and my others a great deal. You are amazing and I understand your fear of being attacked by a cat.

Understanding cat language and respecting boundaries is the key. Slow blinks are I Love You and it’s a calm behaviour. Expressing that does help because if it does it back then you’re at a good place at the start rather than a stressful place.
Cats can sense your panic, or any kind of fear or hesitation from like a mile away. That’s why they always need gentle slow time and never be rushed. I love the idea that you look at it as a spa cause that’s what they need slow and quiet
Such a handsome boy with a very sweet nature even though he was frightened. Very glad that you always take such care and precaution when grooming cats. They remain our favorite feral friends!
I'm a cat lover. Adore them. But yeah... kinda short sighted if you can't work out why someone would be more wary when grooming a cat over grooming a dog. 1. Cats have very sharp claws and teeth 2. Cat scratches have a high chance of infection 3. Cats are much more flexible and agile than dogs, making them slippery little bstrds when they want to escape 4. Cats are nowhere near as domestic as dogs - this wildness makes them harder to train and less obedient
I laughed harder than I should have at his reaction to the easy bake oven. Poor guy! He's gorgeous and he's obviously a great cat! Glad he's found his people!
I can't blame her for her caution with cats. I have 3 that I raised literally from birth (their mother was a colony cat and this was her first litter cause we couldn't capture her.) Mom would come to their call and feed them, get them to poop, and leave. Everything else we did - grooming, cuddling, etc. One of them is an absolute nightmare to groom..she goes ballistic if we even look like we're going to touch her nails, and we've been doing this for her entire life, without once hitting the quick. You just can't judge a cat's behaviour like you can a dog's. And their claws can be pretty dang deadly (says the one with literal scars on arm and shoulders from snipping nails lol).
Man, he looks so much like my dear late Siberian. They are *wonderful* cats. Smart, strong and they are *painfully* polite, right up until you push them too far and they lose their shite. ❤
I had a beautiful Norwegian forest cat named Dallas. She was so beautiful with blue eyes but she was cross eyed. She’s been gone over 10 years now and I still miss her. Leo is a beautiful boy and you did wonderful.
@melissajackson212 I just found out a local groomer will clip my cats nails. I have never done it. I am going to have her do it. She does my dog's nails. My dog has black nails, and last time I did, I cut the quick on one of her nails.
@merricat3025 the vet will cut my dogs nails at their check up, I can't see good to do it myself and I don't do my cats nails because they go outside and bring me treats. Lol

We went from 0 to 10 cats within two weeks and it’s been an experience! Finally got them all neutered and we are having so much fun. It’s just a new season in our lives. ❤
You became the crazy cat lady overnight!
@ I’m owning it!! 😝
@@rhondaa5191 Ten.. wow, that´s a lot. Thank you for taking care of strays.
@@reginapopihn9853 The most amazing part of it is….my husband was allergic to cats, specifically, all of his life. This was confirmed a few years ago when we visited friends with a cat. Now his allergies are non-existent and we are having the time of our lives! 🐈⬛
@@rhondaa5191 Welcome to the society! You can check out any time you want....but you can never leave!
Well said :)
Exactly! Thank-you ❤
I think cats are adorable, funny and sweet yet I keep getting told online I must be a terrible person that hates cats because I'm extremely wary of them. I've had to explain too many times that I like cats but I'm wary of them because a cat scratch sent me to the ER when I was 3. I'm severely allergic and asthmatic and the thought of being scratched again borderline gives me PTSD.
@RiveroftheWither cats are wonderful creatures ❤️ to be careful and cautious with. They're very beautiful but super emotional.
i agree. i’m a cat person and i adore them to bits, but i’m always very wary and cautious when i see them, never one to try and push my luck and pet them because i’m afraid of pain and would hate to get my hands/arms scratched when i’m not careful 😂
@@SirBarth She has a shower for the bigger animals
@@_kingcastiel I've seen the shower, that's not why I asked. I wouldn't put Leo in the shower, however, I would possibly put him in a little bit larger tub than she's using. If Vanessa says "I don't use anything larger for XYZ reasons", that's perfectly fine. I asked because I was curious.
Boy, Leo's face as he was made to suffer the indignities of the Happy Hoodie at the end was serving up some real Lord-give-me-strength energy.
"Trouble Bubble"! The marketing person needs a bonus for that one. What a lovely looking cat. Great job as always Ma'am, wonderful!
Oh, the death stare that cats give😂
I really empathized with Leo when he cried for help in the cage. He seemed almost human.
Oh he's beautiful… looks just like my Prince Hairy, RIP…. HE WAS A GORGEOUS Forest Kitty too…. 100% my daughter's kitty… he loved her from the day we brought her home from the hospital… he would get so mad at me when I shoo'd him out of her baby bed… he'd wait until I left and jump right back In Her bed… he’d just wanted to be near her and he stayed like that until the day he passed away in 2020 … he was 20,years old…
I love that he was sort of okay with the bath but the dryer was 100% Negative Yelp Review, Zero Stars, Do Not Like the Windy Box
Beautiful Leo - and he did so well for being so scared…. So glad he was adopted!
OMG THE END! What a rewarding experience! He only had a mini explosion but was so good and handsome at the end! Thank you Vanessa!
I love the "Easy Bake Oven" phrase. I giggle every time you say it 😂 Another wonderful grooming session with a beautiful kitty. Congrats to Leo's parents & thank you for adopting him ❤❤
One of the few cats that like you more AFTER their groom!
What a pretty baby! 😻 I'm glad he was able to be done on a good note. I don't blame you for being scared of cat claws!😅 I would actually be more scared of dogs, but I read cats better than dogs, and I've known and loved A LOT of cats. 😻
By the end Leo realizes that this isn’t so bad after all. I’ve learned so much about cats watching your videos. Thanks!
I think he really liked it when you talked to him…😊
What a beautiful and sweet cat Leo is. He’s going to make his family very happy
12:07 "finally we make friends" and he blinks😻
Leo is such an adorable cat! And you're so good with cats, good at recognizing their body language and at stressing them out as little as possible in a stressful situation.
I love the slow blink. It’s like I get you. You’re good, I’m good. You are wonderful with animals and do a great job. I love that you share your grooms with us.
Yes I agree with you. Cat don't understand what we are saying, but they understand our intention ❤ @@EmilySmirleGURPS
Leo the feline magician attempting his trick of escaping
You did an amazing job with this beautiful boy. 🥰
You always seem very sweet to the cats despite your concerns.
7:33 That expression. Finally succumbed to his fate. 😂
😂contemplating those life choices
Thank you for posting videos like this. It was from you I learned about Churus and decided to get some for my daughter to try with our cat that hates having his nails clipped. She said it was the easiest nail clipping she's ever done on him!
Retiring this year, $82K biweekly, this video reminds me of my life in 2023, you have really inspired me in so many ways!!!!!!💜
I’m feeling truly inspired.
Can you provide additional insights about the bi-weekly subject you mentioned?
I raised 184k and Anna Kathleen Sanford is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Anna K. Sanford is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!!!!
Whoa 😲 I know her too!
Miss Anna Kathleen Sanford is an incredible person who has brought immense inspiration and positivity into my life.
I meagerly kicked off with $2k, and the results have been Jaw-dropping TBH!!!
7:20 "I've been unjustly imprisoned. I demand to speak to my lawyer."
Anyone else get happy to hear that they are able to come back? I love hearing that! "Thank you, Please come again, goodbye! " 🥰
He never takes his eyes off the situation.
4:32 You can be generous with slow blinks, but since the cats don’t know you, it good that you are vigilant! ❤❤❤❤🇸🇪
The cats don't really seem to enjoy it, but I think I would love that dryer lol
Right so warm, that would be perfect coming home after a cold winter day or after a shower.
Leo has such a calm demeanor and is handsome with beautiful eyes. kudos to his new family for adopting him and giving him the best life!
I love watching these videos. The fur babies are too cute but my absolutely favorite part is at the end, when she says "Please come again" ❤
What a sweet cat! Most of the Siberian Forest Cats you have groomed seem so sweet!
Spidy cat spidy cat😂😂
Poor sweet boy. That dryer really scared him. I recognized those particular sounds he was making. I'm so glad it ended with him getting his tube treat & love at the end. 😸😻✌️🐾🐾🌻🇱🇷
The Trouble bubble makes him look like a catstronaut!
I've watched so many of your videos on both channels and so far as I've seen you're not only good with dogs and cats but with horses and bears too 😂😂❤❤❤
The easy bake oven for cats😅💗
What a cute kitty? 😊🥺 I'm watching this with my kitty as we eat lunch together.
Understanding cat language and respecting boundaries is the key. Slow blinks are I Love You and it’s a calm behaviour. Expressing that does help because if it does it back then you’re at a good place at the start rather than a stressful place.
What a sweetheart ❤
I commend you for even being willing to be yourself in these videos..I enjoy your humanity:).. cats can be brutal and I love cats😊
Awesome groom of a beautiful boy cat!
Also scratch their back just above the tail sometimes gets them to lift it, also how best can i clean my cats ears when they over produce earwax
I'm a cat lover. Adore them. But yeah... kinda short sighted if you can't work out why someone would be more wary when grooming a cat over grooming a dog.
1. Cats have very sharp claws and teeth
2. Cat scratches have a high chance of infection
3. Cats are much more flexible and agile than dogs, making them slippery little bstrds when they want to escape
4. Cats are nowhere near as domestic as dogs - this wildness makes them harder to train and less obedient
I laughed harder than I should have at his reaction to the easy bake oven. Poor guy! He's gorgeous and he's obviously a great cat! Glad he's found his people!
Leo🐾deserves👏👏👏for being so good for his groom😊
You have the right amount of caution! I don’t know why people would think not taking precautions is a bad thing. I enjoy your videos immensely
He's such a beautiful boy
Poor Leo, he's a sweet cat 😂
What a sweetie he was.
What a sweet boy!
such a good little trooper, for a nervous cat he did absolutely amazing. his treat was more than well deserved
What a beautiful, handsome, sweet boy❤❤❤
I love the astronaut helmet. 😂
“Do you like tubes?”😂😂
Man, he looks so much like my dear late Siberian. They are *wonderful* cats. Smart, strong and they are *painfully* polite, right up until you push them too far and they lose their shite. ❤
I had a beautiful Norwegian forest cat named Dallas. She was so beautiful with blue eyes but she was cross eyed. She’s been gone over 10 years now and I still miss her. Leo is a beautiful boy and you did wonderful.
We're all lucky cats aren't the size of big dogs, we would be doomed.
There are cats that are in fact larger than big dogs.
Yeah big cats😼
Leo reminds me of my sweet Molly who was also a Norwegian Forest Cat mix.....but she HATED water!
He's so pretty!
Handsome kitty. He did well during his spa session.😊
He's a good boi ❤
I think you are extremely brave for giving a cat a bath, you couldn't give me enough money to do it!
I have w cats. I have never given them a bath. Those claws and teeth can really hurt you
@merricat3025 exactly why I don't give them a bath, I have kittens before but not an adult.
Lol
