This looks great! Another great tip for the fries: after you boil them, toss them in a bowl with coarse grained salt. This creates a rough texture on the outside of the chip that fries up super crispy.
that looks so good!!!!!!! and i like how Bart explains why he does certain steps :)
This made my mouth water. I'm from the Swedish west coast and for sure need to try this the next time I buy fish at the fish market!
I just love Bart - He has some of the best locations for his videos :)
Watching this in the middle of the night because I want fish and chips😔
We know that feeling!
Same
Nom nom🥺
@@mir1246 🥺🥺😭😭
Being Dutch, having eating the Dutch equivalent, I've always loved this way of preparing fish. I love fried food T.T
I love the way Bart talks. It is so calm, and he explains everything very well
I made this with sparkling water and oh my god! They were so good!
That looks TASTY.
Thanks! Hope to see you soon back on my channel
Tried this today, Absolutely my favorite. Better than any restaurant fish and chips I've eaten. My husband raved about them! Thank you
Absolutely loved Heston's tip on that little extra batter for the rough crunchy bits. Brilliant. Will definitely do that going forward. Thanks Bart.
:)
My favorite Fish & Chips recipe! They came out absolutely perfect! Better than some restaurants I have had it & the Malt Vinegar elevates the flavor even more! Thanks!
Perfect!!!!
Thanks mate!

Akis Kitchen you are perfect

Oh my god, that looks sooo.... delicious. Great job! Please show more of this great sea food and the britisch way of life. THX a lot my friend❤️🇬🇧❤️🐟🍴
Awesome color on those filets. I will try this better for sure. So simple.
I had previously tried cooking fish and chips at home to disasterous effects. Today I tried this recipe. It was perfect. My family said "it was the best fish and chips they'd ever had". Thank you for this simple yet wonderful recipe.
Dear God, that looks like the Backfisch I used to eat in my childhood in northern germany all the time. I will definitely try this tomorrow. Thank you so much!
Glad you like it!
my mouth is watering for absolutely no reason.
Oh my God. absolutely delicious
I just made it! Wonderful flavor, thank you! 5 stars
This is the best fish & chips recipe out there
Thanks
Great! So easy!? I must try it because I used to to frequently enjoy Fish N` Chips during my visits to London. I just loved it. Thank you very much.
I should not watch this on midnight
It’s you
Other English recipe variations use turmeric and even curry along with beer in the batter. Ive tried them both together, absolutely lovely.
Love it! I would only start by frying the potatoes first so that they don't get a fishy taste but that is my paranoid me speaking
I made this recipe a couple of years back and it was delicious. I am back to go again. Think it will be my regular. Haven't found another this good
How is Jamie Oliver's channel not verified?
***** I'm on my desktop not mobile genius
this isn't jamie isn't it?
(jk ofcourse)
The verification crap has errors and bugs at times. and yea he should be verified. Because i'm on desktop and it's not showing. the tick mark
maybe he simply doesnt give one about it?
He is shown as verified for me...
Thank you for the recipe, it worked out really good
Glad to hear that!
the fish looked amazing, not sure about the peas though.
I was thinking the same thing. I love peas but it's not something I would think of eating with fried fish. Now I have to try it
+JRScrambo I love mushy peas with fish. But this isn't the right type.
Fried fish with mushy peas is a British thing.
+asdfrozen one of the greatest meals.
The outdoor cooking made the peas more chunky. But the taste and structure is lovely... Thanks for watching
I have followed the recipe... I am not disappointed ! 👌🏾 Thank you
Wow Jamie Oliver looks so different these days and his voice is not the same!!!
Lol it's Bart not Jamie.
@@stillcovalent it’s called sarcasm fam
Vinegar on chips is a must
Great video! Too bad these videos come around 9pm for me in my timezone, which makes me super hungry for some late-night snacks.

Today: 2 min ago (1.13am)
Just go for it bro, enjoy life for once in a while, just don't make it a habit
Thanks a lot for the perfect recipe. I'm gonna try this for the next dinner! Loads of thanks from South Korea!!
That is the best sea salt I’ve ever used.
It’s all I use .
Wonderful
Grandma was from Wales,,,
I grew up on fish & chips...
This is a legit recipe and I’m a confirmed fish & chips elitist
Excellent...as usual! Thank you so much!
Make sure to not use bitter butter because that will make your batter bitter.
Why even bother making your bitter butter batter better?
+kareemb0 hahahahahaahaaahah
Jasperboy 100 that makes no sense.
Jasperboy 100 ... you make no sense.
BramowitchIII
Lol
DEFINITELY trying this! Although Im not using beer. Sparkling water would do!
lovely recipe, who doesn't love fish n chips!? I would even love it more with some swedish "remouladsås" on the side ;)
I love the idea of adding the honey for color. I have to try it....
Amazing, made this tonight
WOOHOO!

Im watching in 2am ... Dam I want fish n chips now 😞

This looks great!
Thanks Amie!
Awsome hubby is a Cpt on a Community fishing boat. I need these kind of receipes and tips. Thank you.
Also using metric system:) niice:)
I love this mans passion
Fish had so much oil the US might invade it
HA, HILARIOUS!
omg you made my day😂
Nickholai Echevarria :D
+Just Curious correct. fish gets greasy when the oil isnt hot enough and the oil gets chance to soak into the fish
***** You must be fun at parties
I'm going to make it for today's diner! That looks tasty and my wife would be glad. From Japan.
Will chips smell like a fish? Would it be better to fry firstly chips and then fish?
it probably wont because the fish is covered in batter and deep fried anyways
I personally think its better to use the same oil, and the chips wont be fishy as the batter stops the fish from making the oil smell.
it's fish and chips, does it really matter is the chips slightly smells of fish?
Also from personal experience the chips shouldn't smell like fish.
You are right! :) Flavors will stay in fish because fish is covered with batter. ;)
You are also right... Fish smelled chips wouldn't kill anyone, but still.. if you can prevent that :D I would rather fry chips first :)
I am English and that's the best battered cod I've ever seen ,or maybe I'm just hungry haha
6:13 dutch newspaper
Good eye ;-)
We had this receipt today. LOVELY.
Looks awesome, though I'm starting to prefer other fish to cod, just not a huge fan of it's texture.
I often make it with hake too. It's great too!
I love this guy because he first started to make for the better.
Very inspiring guy 😹
Yummy that is always going to be a hit ;))) yummy!!!
You make it seem so simple love the tip about extra batter on top... thank you
Look at the chips at 5:56
There is an ant climbing up the chips lmao
doing that on board with the tide out made the video that much more awesome. thanks for sharing.
That ain't mushy peas. That's ever so slightly squashed peas. For me the whole point is to dip my chips in the MUSHY peas. Probably why I like to add a dollop of sour cream.
There is only one person so does proper peas on youTube - Keef Cooks....Look him up.
@@richardedwards9389 thanks just watched it. They look spectacular.
I could eat this everyday.
EVERY DAY !
classic english food i love it :D
It's really really nice!
Love your channel, Bart. But why do we have a Dutchman cooking the most English of dishes? :)
BF31 Fish & chips is considered a British thing. However, it is conceptually quite Northern European.
The difference is that in the UK, it is a specific set ensemble.
yumme
in fact i stopped use the normal potatoes for doing the chips since about 10years ago i buy the frozen fingers potatoes to fri it but after this video i will try the normal potatoes from the market i hope it will be crunchy

I'd like to try this one. In Chile, we typically serve this one with a tomato and onion salad
Sounds really nice...
Barts batter 's better, I bet ya'
Might be better with a bit 'a butter, but na bitter.
you'll never put a better bit of batter on your fish
lol
xD
Bart’s batter is better than Betty’s bitter butter batter I bet ya
Woke up craving fish and chips.
The worlds famous, fiss and chips
one of my favourite ways to eat fish, he mentioned hake which is very good, but my personal favourite has to be pollock, just delicious in a beer batter :)
i come from the country where fish and chips came from yay
well done
UK, Spain, China .. any more claims to have invented Fish ´n Chips?
Well I come from a land down under...

Looks bloody fantastic
Isn't a cup of flour about 125g?
no
about 250g
but ... www.kingarthurflour.com/learn/ingredient-weight-chart.html
+SkitHertz it's nearly impossible to get an accurate volume to weight conversion, especially with dry ingredients like flour. Always use metric weight for the best and most consistent results.
still, 250g is pretty far off from 125g
Tried out your receipe for the fish and chips. They were very nice, like those I used to enjoy in Melbourne, Australia. Thank you.
Kibbeling?
kibbeling is kleiner toch?
Lekkerbek
Kibbelingen met knoflook saus
kabeljauw (lekkerbek)
In Nederland komt dit inderdaad in de buurt van Lekkerbek. Kibbeling is gemaakt van kleinere stukken vis (traditioneel overigens van kabeljauw wangen). Thnks for watching
This is the best recipe I've seen before
I'm not native english. Could someone "write" what kind of fish he use?
Cod :)
Aidan Lassing Thanks.
It's called Cod. :)

One of my favourite beers, nice looking plate of food. Haven't tried making mushy peas yet. Great recipe, Thank You Bart

Bart is the man!
Het is leuk om de Nederlandse te horen met het accent!!! ik ben hier al zolang dat ik het kwijt ben!!
Lovely video- everything seems even more delicious in such beautiful surroundings!
It looks awesome !!
I have used this recipe som many times. It is so good! Thank you!
Im trying this recipie for my family today, thanks from Guadalajara, México!
Just made it! Thanks for the recipe
Cant wait to try this out!
Going to give this a shot. Couple of minor questions: 1. temperature of oil at 190 Celsius - is this necessary or can we work at a lower temperature? Found some variance with several chefs teaching. 2. Vegetable oil - there's no hard rule for the volume, as long as it can submerge the fish / chips. Correct?
This is amazing, everything is so well thought out, wow.
Thanks David!
Awesome recipe you nailed that batter brother
Thanks!
