I've been using a 50 inch Pioneer monitor TV that was getting binned from a hotel , came with remote , stand and speakers , added a Humax box . When I checked the new price I was staggered that they cost £5500 new back in 2004 ISH . Downside is it's 400w Upside is the amp in it is brilliant, and the picture is astonishing. Full 1946 HD 🎉 I wish I had taken the other 6 that were in the skip 😂
@johnphillips4783 that was 1 hotel in Edinburgh , the whole chain were refurbishing , going to led TVs , they must have binned 1/4 of a million in high end stuff
The TCL ones are well made and still have Panasonic design inside. This here was a test model from someone else before the TCL deal to be sold as a budget price beater for tough times in 2022.
I’ve had my current Panasonic tv for 12 years, it still looks fantastic. The tv before was also a Panasonic which I had for 8 years and eventually sold it. Which manufacturer would you recommend?
Me as well, only ever used panasonic tv's since the 80's and never had problems with any of them, they never went wrong but I replaced them just to upgrade!!!
I was so impressed (paid £800 back in 2008 for it) with my 42 inch HD plasma screen from Panasonic, got good sound as well. that I upgraded to a 50 inch HD plasma screen from Panasonic, paid about £60 for it on ebay, picture is as good as it gets, like looking out the window, a fire stick makes it smart, over 300w though, I don't mind using it in the winter months, helps keep my house warm.
I wonder if the screen connect ribbon that you disconnected / reconnected was just not a great connection and you seated it properly removing/inserting it again? Just speculating of course, those connectors are both fragile and remarkably resilient at the same time!! I've had experience with ribbon connectors dealing with broken laptop screens (which are quite economical to repair ie replace screen as there's no fixing them).
The higher spec models are usually TCL (this isn't necessarily a bad thing) the lower spec Panny stuff is typically Vestel, which is obviously not a good thing.
I got the same Panasonic TV I brought my John Lewis with 5 year guarantee 3 years a go. My tv had the same issue John Lewis had it sent off. The tv works fine and some days it act up and be sluggish since I update the software it fixed it. The Panasonic TV need factory reseting and it will fix itself. It software problem since I factory reset my Panasonic 50 inch same tv it fixed the problem.
Interesting. Panasonic used to a reliable brand. Had plenty of their video recorders, TV's, dvd recorders in the past without issue. It appears we are in a race to the bottom. What brand of TV would people recommend for reliability these days?
I have 3 Panasonic plasma TV's, P42G10 (bought new in 2009), P50GT30 (bought second hand in 2015) and P65VT60 (bought second hand in 2017). All of them still working and going strong. Together they must have working hours measured in years, if not a decade already. I really hope my "daily driver" (65" one) doesn't die any time soon, as I really have no idea what to replace it with. I despise modern "smart" TVs.
Great content. Please sort your audio level, quite disturbing as it's starting quiet then blasted me out! Are you sure that DJI is any good for your setup?
(HDR on) is also an LED. kills as many screens turn the backlight and contrast to 100% is HDR something that the video is recorded with or just a tv setting that changes the tv settings brightness and contrast?
Times change, brands change & become less reliable it seems. I was surprised to find out via the internet that Philips sold off its consumer electronics to a Chinese company. Remember when "ambilight" was a big thing.
@@stepheng8779 In the US, the TVs went to Funai over a decade ago (Funai went bust this winter, so that will change again). Everything else (apart from healthcare and personal care/toothbrushes/shavers, which is still genuine Philips) has gone to mostly Chinese private equity. In Europe slightly different but still sold off.
The Philips brand name is currently licenced to TPV in China. Philips still owns the name and can recall it at any time as they just have in Russia. As far as I know TPV sets badged as Philips are currently manufactured in Poland.
Since the HZ2000 back in 2020 Panasonic quality of materials has plummeted. There was some change over around 2020 then all materials went flimsy thin. HZ2000 was the last of the greats.
That's why I won't buy a Panasonic TV because we don't know who manufactures them. I'll stick to Life's Good and Bony who make all their own sets. I have to call them that or YT delete the comment. Rebadging should be outlawed because it's mis-leading the public as to who makes the products.
i work on car electronics and in that field an android logo = waste of my time ! also i use android phones (hate apple the company) and theres always something going wrong with them at any given time but linux (basis of android) on a rasberry pi absolutelly faultless all the time!
Yea, I don't really trust Android to last more than about 4 to 5 years before becoming totally unusable, which is ok-ish for phones (sigh), but not for a TV IMHO. Avoid.
Android is based on Linux, which is the most stable software in the universe, which is why 99.9999% of data centres and automatic warehouses use Linux.... In fact anything that has to be reliable uses Linux, they do not even think about using microsoft garbage.
My old 37" Panasonic plasma is still going strong since purchase in 2007 ....how times have changed 🥴
I also have a 50" Plasma from about 2010 still going strong. I think it's a G10 model. Afraid to "upgrade" 😁
Had a 2007 Panasonic in today. Shame the museum up the road is closed otherwise I would have given it to them.
As soon as the customer gets it back it'll go wrong again! 😜

Mad what some companies will throw away. Most retail companies are the worst as they'd rather destroy an item than sell it at a loss.

The non-Vestel Panasonic LCDs are apparently produced by TCL to Panasonic's specs.
This is correct.
TCL also manufacture higher spec TVs for a number of the 'big' brands.
The TCL ones are well made and still have Panasonic design inside.

Have two Panasonic TV's ,one about 12years old and one 4 years. The older one still going strong, whilst the newer one is OK.
i used to repair Panasonic CRT

Would like to know myself...
This channel did a video on the subject:

Allen made a video on this subject dated 20 November 2024 titled TV engineers honest opinion on today's TV sets.
Rtings is a Canadian group extensively testing US TV's but may give an idea of where issues may be.
Under £500...LG....over £500...Sony.... don't bother with OLED TV not reliable....also try to avoid edge lit backlight tvs

Informative as it is your videoing is quite annoying with all the zooming around. a fixed wide angle would be better to watch.
I’ve had so many issues with Android on TVs 🤷♂️

Hopefully it was just a dodgy connection, thanks Allen 😊

Philips sold appliances and lightbulbs off too. Bulbs are still good under new owner. Just healthcare and shavers/toothbrushes Dutch now.
Thought the sale to Funai didn't go through? Last I heard Philips were taking them to court?

I have 39inch Panasonic tv and turns off after a few seconds . I have swapped PSU but still problem
Might have been a bad connection to the screen, unplugging/plugging back in probably sorted it.
worth factory reseting the Android system?. Usually what they need

Agreed, don't buy a hotpoint WM, dishwasher, tumble dryer Ect, all factories shut rebadged rubbish.
I didn't know you can get your comment deleted for literally mentioning a brand name, that's nuts
