  • My final day in Poznan and I'm going to visit the University zone. This part of Poznan is home to the prestigious Adam Mickiewicz University which dates back to 1611. There is also a large castle in this area, theatre and park. This area is also historic as over 100,000 Poles rose up against the Russian Communist machine here in 1956. There is also a large fountain here and the University itself is quite beautiful. Poznan really has a lot to offer.

This is really a beautiful city with so many architectural gems. This city will be amazing when all of the renovation is complete. The pancakes looked so delicious. Nice video Kerry.

3:19 This silver obelisk symbolizes the parish collegiate church of St. Mary Magdalene, which was built in this place in the fourteenth century. It was a symbol of Poznań, due to its monumental figure and 115-meter tower, for many hundreds of years. It was one of the tallest buildings in Europe at that time. There are exposed remains of the building under the glass slabs. Shades of pink, yellow and white are characteristic of old baroque buildings. That's why you'll see a lot of them in Poland.
17:46 Monument dedicated to the victims of the Katyn massacre. The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of nearly 22,000 Polish military officers and intelligentsia prisoners of war carried out by the Soviet Union, specifically the NKVD ("People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs", the Soviet secret police) in April and May 1940. Citizens of the Second Republic of Poland were of different religious denominations.

Thanks for sharing, I always wondered about the colors. Some tragic history, too, it seems, with the massacre. 🇵🇱

This church is not existing anymore. This square you were walking through was where the church once stood.@@TravelAddictGuy

Poznań isnt that good place to study because mentality of local people/students in Poznań is unfriendly to students coming from other regions.. plus they are very classist. about Katyń from Wikipedia: 'The Katyn massacre was a series of mass executions of nearly 22,000 Polish military officers and intelligentsia prisoners of war carried out by the Soviet Union, specifically the NKVD ("People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs", the Soviet secret police) in April and May 1940. Though the killings also occurred in the Kalinin and Kharkiv prisons and elsewhere, the massacre is named after the Katyn forest, where some of the mass graves were first discovered by German Nazi forces. ' Siberia is the inhuman place in russia where russia forcefully sent thousands of Poles, Lithuanians etc to slavery labor in inhuman conditions comparable to german death camps.
