Patrick was already insane when pennywise persuades him to kill his brother *which was so easy that IT became somewhat disturbed* *Theory* : Patrick burned Mike's parents
It's a shame how little of the actual Patrick Hockstetter character made it into the movie, but it would have to be done as series to have the hours and hours to fit in all the little side stories and details that made the original story so great. Thanks to this sweet video, people who haven't read the book will now be aware of just how much creepy weirdness they are missing out on!

I feel like Patrick was a wasted character like he had so much potential and his entire story was told within like 4 pages. He should have had a whole book
Solipsism is probably one of the most dangerous patterns of thinking a human, especially a child, can develop. If you believe you’re the only person that actually exists then what does it matter how much pain you inflict upon anyone in your vicinity? They’re not real. Their pain isn’t real. Their screams aren’t real. They’re love isn’t real. Their proverbial heart you just broke isn’t real. It’s all just your own mind producing a positive feedback loop into your consciousness making everything “appear real”. That’s not to say everyone who holds a solipsistic view of reality will go on to harm people physically and emotionally because they believe those people are not real. However, the likelihood of them harming someone physically and emotionally at some point in their life will go up.
Jack Landers reality is often more disturbing than fiction. Plays well here as guys like Bowers and Hockstetter are human yet more depraved than possibly Pennywise. Despite its methods and what it does, Pennywise is a creature of the food chain, just trying to survive.
If Patrick was held back in first and third grade, there's no way he was a pre-teen by fifth grade but a full blown teenager. That's most likely why they had a tall kid play the roll of Patrick in the miniseries (seriously the guy was towering over even Henry and the rest of his gang), not just because he would be the oldest, but because he also hit his growth spurt before most of the rest of his class
When I read about him killing Avery I felt sick and had to resist the urge to skip the section because it was so upsetting even if Patrick was mentally disturbed I was kinda glad when pennywise killed him
I remember going onto your account like 2 months ago looking for this video because patrick is really interesting and was sad that i couldn’t find it, glad that its here now!
While I didn't really like how "PG-13" Patrick seemed in the 2017-version by comparison, I do respect how they essentially replaced one of the three factors that make up the Macdonald triad with another one (namely pyromania with animal cruelty) so that his psychopathic nature was still apparent. Who knows, if he had been in the TV-mini series, perhaps he would have displayed the third factor: bedwetting.
I've always thought of Hockstetter as a rough analogy for the It creature. And btw King's book Firestarter (written six years before It) had a Dr. Patrick Hockstetter, a minor character with no resemblance to the sociopath kid in any way. I've always found that curious.
I always wanted an accurate version of him that shows some of the things, not all, but some of the things he did. Like the thing he tried to do with Henry
This boy was so messed up! Glad he met his end by the hand of It! Great video again, Zac! Looking forward to more great content from you! I’m rereading the novel because of these videos lmao
@ I feel mo sympathy for someone whose full of racism and murders animals, abused or not. Not only did Henry murder Mike's dog but he murdered their dog simply because he was owned by the Hanlon's. Henry tortured people and would take things too far, patrick would just kill things
Even though I have started reading the book (which is scarier than all 3 movies in my opinion), Beverlys dad and Patrick still scare me the most. While watching it chapter one the scenes with Bevs dad were wayy scarier than the pennywise scenes tbh
Thanks. Was disappointed when they left of 90% of the Hockstetter stuff in the movie. He was one of the most interesting characters. I just hope he appears in Castle Rock at some stage (like the amazing way Annie Wilkes got featured). I know the movie was already really long but they could have added like 30 minutes of Patrick and his backstory and I would have been glued to the screen.
Guys, if Patrick Hockstetter was still alive in the sequel, imagine if his adult version was played by Skeet Ulrich. That would’ve been pulled off Edit: or maybe Joaquin Phoenix
Owen Teague ROCKED as Patrick Hockstedder...just wasn't given the script to truly embody this greatest and scariest of all Kings characters. He had a similar charisma and sexy cruelty that John Travolta totally KILLED in Carrie. Owen Teague should be given a chance to do the REAL Hockstedder...
When I read the book I sat there for a second just trying to comprehend patrick's character. And My mom looked at me and asked what's wrong and I said, "I couldn't even begin to tell you the many things wrong with the character I just read about."

The description of Patrick in the book was so vivid to me, especially the rubbery lips part. It was like I could almost imagine his face. There are just some people whose vibe seems off and sometimes their physical appearance aids to their creepiness.
Patrick looks like Spencer from iCarly.
And Beck from victorious lol
More like Crazy steve
Imagine if it all takes place in Patrick's mind
super nova that would be the biggest plot twist that I’ve ever heard of.
Huh.
HOLY SHIT THATS COOL
Patrick=Gan confirmed
This characters is pretty disturbing
Well damn, I wasn't expecting Patrick's backstory.
Patrick was already insane when pennywise persuades him to kill his brother *which was so easy that IT became somewhat disturbed*
*Theory* : Patrick burned Mike's parents
Now im thinking
I'm pretty sure Patrick killed his brother on his own account - It had nothing to do with that.
@@ZeXiOn26 yeah because IT was still in Hibernation when Patrick killed his brother
Even so, pennywise still felt odd about patrick

Patrick is definitely one of the scariest Stephen King characters. Ever.
“twisted preteen”
*is like 15*😂
Editorial King he’s 15 in the movie but his character was only supposed to be 12 in the original book.
He’s 12 in the book
Boi, the Boy is 11 or 12
(I forgot)
Very interesting!
Now that you mentioned it, can you *please do Greta Bowie* next?
UmbreonErick I don’t know if she’s important enough to the story for one of these videos
There's not much information about her :/
Yhhh they wasted all the iNtReStInG characters
It’s sad because he has such a good background story and they just YEETED that
The tier list of scariest characters in It Chapter 1:
1. Beverly’s Dad
2. Pennywise
3. Patrick Hockstetter
4.Henry Bowers
5.The Painting Lady
Yeah, good list

Okay, now that is a frightening sight
Much different than the slender looking Hot Topic one in the theatrical version
😂
It's a shame how little of the actual Patrick Hockstetter character made it into the movie, but it would have to be done as series to have the hours and hours to fit in all the little side stories and details that made the original story so great. Thanks to this sweet video, people who haven't read the book will now be aware of just how much creepy weirdness they are missing out on!

Could you maybe do the lifes of the characters from "The Shining"? You know: Jack, Wendy, Danny, Hallorann, ...
Fun Fact: Halloran was actually going to make a cameo appearance in IT, but was cut for pacing reasons.
@@sirenofthesea7802 hopefully they'll release the directors cut with all the deleted scenes and the director said he may even film more scenes for it.
@@sirenofthesea7802 OK. Do you maybe know what would've happened in the scene? Was it maybe like that scene in the Black Spot, when it burned down and Mike's father was rescued by Dick Hallorann?
@@Joshua0810 Pretty much. It's honestly been awhile since I've read over his section. Sorry for the late response. I got my info from the Stephen King wiki, if you would like to go over things yourself. Have a good day.
@@sirenofthesea7802 Thanks. You too :-)
So.... let me get this straight.
A bootleg Mickey mouse can lay pipe on shark baby and Elsa but god forbid you dance around mentioning Patrick's history of pipe examination. K.
I feel like Patrick was a wasted character like he had so much potential and his entire story was told within like 4 pages. He should have had a whole book
Doesn’t that tie have the same pattern on it as the carpeting in the Overlook Hotel?
That’s the point
Yet another fantastic character breakdown, I LOVE these!1 Thank you!
Watching movie: The only ones worse than Pennywise are Alvin Marsh and Henr-
Patrick Hockstetter: I’m going to have to stop you right there
“Much different than the slender looking hot topic version” got me good
And hear I thought a shapesifting clown was the scariest thing in IT.
Jack Landers reality is often more disturbing than fiction. Plays well here as guys like Bowers and Hockstetter are human yet more depraved than possibly Pennywise. Despite its methods and what it does, Pennywise is a creature of the food chain, just trying to survive.
@@maxfrankow1238 pennywise is evil incarnate. Nothing comes close to him. Maturin= jesus. Pennywise= satan.
Patrick is the worst imao
If Patrick was held back in first and third grade, there's no way he was a pre-teen by fifth grade but a full blown teenager. That's most likely why they had a tall kid play the roll of Patrick in the miniseries (seriously the guy was towering over even Henry and the rest of his gang), not just because he would be the oldest, but because he also hit his growth spurt before most of the rest of his class
Yesssss. I was hoping for this. He's a frightening but interesting character.
When I read about him killing Avery I felt sick and had to resist the urge to skip the section because it was so upsetting even if Patrick was mentally disturbed
I was kinda glad when pennywise killed him
That was the only good thing Pennywise did and didn't even realize lol
I remember going onto your account like 2 months ago looking for this video because patrick is really interesting and was sad that i couldn’t find it, glad that its here now!
You should do Danny Torrance from "The Shining" and "Doctor Sleep"
First video on my recommended and i was so excited that there was another Horror History for IT, especially one for Patrick
“Cleaned his…uh..exhaust pipe.”
I love a man who can use a good euphemism. 😂
"After the...uhhh...pipe examination..."
This channel is criminally underrated
Also, the editing in these videos is SUPERB. CZ, you are truly amazing.
Patrick is my favorite character!
I clicked faster than I click the skip button when a Cats ad comes up on my screen!
I've always thought of Hockstetter as a rough analogy for the It creature. And btw King's book Firestarter (written six years before It) had a Dr. Patrick Hockstetter, a minor character with no resemblance to the sociopath kid in any way. I've always found that curious.
Patrick Hockstetter is way worst than Henry Bowers!
And even more evil than Pennywise.
I always wanted an accurate version of him that shows some of the things, not all, but some of the things he did. Like the thing he tried to do with Henry
Same!
I remember reading the chapter in IT about Patrick’s backstory. When he killed Avery, I was.. truly disturbed
This boy was so messed up! Glad he met his end by the hand of It! Great video again, Zac! Looking forward to more great content from you! I’m rereading the novel because of these videos lmao
Would have been interesting to see him as an adult though.
CZsWorld He probably would have become a serial killer based on his acts as a kid lol
I would've liked it they kept him alive for a little longer tbh. His character was very "interesting" :")
Yeeees please do more horror history. This is the only class I've ever gotten perfect attendance in 😂
Patrick is scaryer then penny wise he kills animal's I'm not okay with that
Patrick was the scariest human being without a doubt. But I still think pennywise is scarier
@@lanabrown2541 Actually I think Henry scares me more
@ I feel mo sympathy for someone whose full of racism and murders animals, abused or not. Not only did Henry murder Mike's dog but he murdered their dog simply because he was owned by the Hanlon's. Henry tortured people and would take things too far, patrick would just kill things
This channel is amazing! I'm a huge fan of it and want to know more od it
Me before the video: why would pennywise kill him
Me after the video: yeah pennywise get em
Even though I have started reading the book (which is scarier than all 3 movies in my opinion), Beverlys dad and Patrick still scare me the most. While watching it chapter one the scenes with Bevs dad were wayy scarier than the pennywise scenes tbh
I’ll keep watching this until it hits 1 million views.

That would’ve been pulled off
Edit: or maybe Joaquin Phoenix
I’m a little late but nice to see a lesser character getting his backstory shown
Owen Teague ROCKED as Patrick Hockstedder...just wasn't given the script to truly embody this greatest and scariest of all Kings characters. He had a similar charisma and sexy cruelty that John Travolta totally KILLED in Carrie. Owen Teague should be given a chance to do the REAL Hockstedder...
Damn Stephen king used black magic to give these characters this much detail in a book
I didn’t realize ‘black magic’ was another name for coke.

When I read the book I sat there for a second just trying to comprehend patrick's character. And My mom looked at me and asked what's wrong and I said, "I couldn't even begin to tell you the many things wrong with the character I just read about."
