The girl who got married was his best friend. Deepika is his love interest..he wants to travel the world but she wants to live in India so they can't be together. They're both very passionate about what they do so it's not gonna work out
Okay first of all all the 5 of them (3 guys 2 girls) are a close group of friends, 2 of them are getting married, and everyone is there to attend the wedding (it's a destination wedding at this big palace turned hotel)... The back story - Deepika and Ranbir were kind of a thing back in the day ( or i should say potentially a thing ) but Ranbir had bigger dreams of traveling around the world ( as you could see in his scrapbook ) so he leaves ... Leaves his friends, and Deepika behind to persue his dreams... Then after years of absolute zero contact, they meet again at this wedding, things somewhat rekindle between the two, but Ranbir is still not ready for that commitment (he has that one dream Paris trip to do - again look at the scrapbook) ... Deepika tells him to go, saying that she doesn't have the strength to fall in love with him all over again, so a 2nd time with a heavy heart (as soon as the wedding end) Ranbir is leaving everything behind --- that is why all that crying ( along with the already mellow atmosphere coz of the wedding and all )
So yeah, that's 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' which translates to something like - this youth is crazy/mad, where Ranbir is that dreamy outgoing character, while Deepika kinda prefers stability.

People shouldn’t recommend slow songs like this. It’s boring AF without subtitles. And even with subtitles it can be boring. Only when the song has a nice beat, it’s okay.

The scene shows the wedding of their best friend the drunk girl! All the people shown are a group of four best friends. One of the friends, the drunk girl, is getting married. And two of the friends are in love with each other deepika and the main guy. You see the fourth friend, a man, when the bride is taking a shot before the wedding. In the pre wedding party the main guy and deepika break up so all the emotions are high. When the bride is crying it is because she is saying goodbye to her friends. Indian weddings are always sad at the end it’s tradition to be emotional at the end of a wedding.

The woman who got married is the main characters best friend. He has no romantic feelings for her. The woman who kept crying is the one he’s in love with. He’s someone who wants to travel the world and never settle down but she wants to stay in India and make a home with him and settle down so they decide to break up. And watching their best friend get married makes them think they’ll never have that with each other because they want different things from life and hence more crying.
The girls side of the family or friends cry’s when the girls gets married and has to leave with her husband. It’s a Indian wedding tradition
