I love F1, but when it comes to modeling, I’ve never given a chance to one car (I build planes, and a figure sometimes). Thanks for the encouragement!

I've never made an F1 car - bit like an F-4, there will be a very large number of decals!!! Maybe one day though, as I like an F1 car but maybe something a bit older like a Lotus or a Brabham.

Great vid again Gary and nice to see a car build. I feel your pain with the front decal, i had a worse one with the Ebbro Lotus 49 I made for my Dad. Dead hard to get straight and the nose cone conformed properly. In fact I messed up on the 1st attempt so badly I emailed the Japanese company Ebbro explaining my problem and asking if I could purchase a new decal. Within 3 days they had air freighted me a whole new decal sheet with no cost to myself! Now that's how to look after customers.
Got the Airfix Jag XKR in the stash.
Keep up the good work 👏

This is my first kit that I am going to do as I am new to modelling.
Thanks to this video, I have an idea of how easy it can be.....and am looking forward to starting.

Good to hear Neil. Just be careful with that decal that goes over the nose - you might need to trim it with a sharp craft knife to follow the front air inlet, but you'll see that on the video! Hope you have fun with it!

Lovely model, Gary. Your battle was successful.
I like the idea of the 2-'car kit with Jag. I may go looking for that and pose them in a diorama with some slot car accessories.
    Cheers!

Those were great pics of the track versions. Some really nice cars. You don't need any gauges, you judge rpm's by the number of popping sounds as you brake and downshift, and the vroooom's as you accelerate 😜. I know I know, I'll crawl back under my coffee ☕ mug now 👍

The shame is that with Corvette going mid-engined, AMs remain one of the front-engined GTs racing. Pity.

My favourite bit of the Le Mans circuit is the corner at the end of the Mulsanne Straight - it's a sharpish right hander at the end of the bit where they hit peak speeds. Popping and banging aplenty, and at night there are sheets of flame out the back and the brake disks glow yellow hot. Wyn Percy used to swear he used both feet on the brake pedals for that one!

That's the Mulsanne Hairpin though it's been opened up a bunch from its original shape. And if you've ever played a Le Mans video game you'll know that you feel as if you've got both feet on the pedal! In Gran Turismo 4 you break 200 mph in 5 different places each lap -- absolutely breathtaking, especially at night. Those drivers have nerves of steel -- again, and again, and again . . .

Nice history lesson. I didn’t realize they completed in the LaMons 24 hr race. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦

Not just competed but won their class too. I wouldn't mind a kit of the Nimrod Aston Martin from the '80s that ran at Le Mans if I could find one. I was lucky that the year I went there I saw the Jaguar team win!

Hey Gary, I used to watch racing (all kinds) when I was a kid. They would be on ABC on Saturday afternoons. I very much enjoyed watching the abbreviated LeMans race. When I got older, I would go to the drag races at Cayuga Dragway not far from me. I only got to see one Sprint series race in Lancaster NY. My cousin worked for Minolta and we got to see the cars up close and personal. Those were the best days of my life!

Hey I worked for Minolta once, way back in the 80s. And Nikon.

Is there anywhere you can find the Steve McQueen car from the film Le Mans to build, Gary? - my dream would be to build one that is radio-controlled - someone must have done it somewhere?

There are a few Porsche 917K kits around, Fujimi did one in 1/24 the 1970 Le Mans Gulf Racing colours, as did MFH. DVA has done it in 1/43 with just about every possible variant of the Gulf colours across the endurance racing calendar for the time, including testing! In fact, I think Model Factory Hiro did it in 1/12th as well, which you might be able to convert to radio control - if you can find one anywhere of course.

I think if it were in 1/24 th scale it would be a way better kit

Agreed. Or maybe a 1/12th...??? I do love an Aston Martin!
