Panasonic FZ80/FZ82 Walkthrough

  • This video is going over the layout of the Panasonic FZ80 (or FZ82). This is to help those who have purchased the camera, either to introduce them to the buttons and doors, or for someone who has already had the camera but needed a reminder. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available settings and features! I also have photo and video examples from the camera at the beginning of the walkthrough!
If you have questions I did not answer, please let me know in the comments below!
CORRECTION: At 2:33 I mention this camera does not have in body stabilization only optical. This is false! When making this video, I misspoke and thought optical was digital. In the case of DIGITAL stabilization, it would not have in body stabilization. However, OPTICAL stabilization IS in body stabilization for this camera! My apologies for any mix ups!

Thank you Heather. After reading the manual, and looking at another "'how to" UA-cam video I thought I'd just return the camera, my husband found Shutter Bug , in 30 minutes I learned enough about the camera to know it wasn't made just to drive me crazy. Heather, you are a great instructor. Heather tells you all the things you need to know to get started.

What an amazing video - thank you.
As a photography moron I found your video astoundingly helpful. I tried a few other tutorials and they managed to bamboozle me within seconds and leave me suffering with feelings of photographic inadequacies. You, in contrast, made understanding simple. I now actually think I might be able to take a photo or two 😁
As one UA-camr to another, keep up the excellent work. It's largely unrewarding, but I guarantee you're helping more people than you'll ever really know. You've certainly helped me and earned my eternal thanks and subscription.
Now... if you could just pop across the Atlantic and take my pictures for me...
No? I'd better watch some more of your videos then 😄

I just bought this camera and watching your video alone at work without even having this camera in my hand , I already feel like I have a very good grasp of it. I am going to watch it again and do a follow along with the camera. Your instructions are so easy to follow, You are clear, concise, very thorough and pleasant to listen to. You didn't veer off on another subject or talk too fast or too much or have a schtick. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, I truly wish all tutorials were just like this one in terms of pace and thoroughness and concise instructions.     Hi, sugar... My wonderful husband just gave me the FZ80 for my birthday and I've been checking out the "how-to"s on UA-cam. Thank heaven for yours! It's the only one that makes sense to me. Especially at the end when you say don't try to do too much in the beginning because it will become too complicated and you'll never use it...or words to that effect. Amen! I already took it out in the back yard and shot pix of my friendly feral cat and a Cardinal that she missed, and some wonderful cumulus clouds that covered the afternoon sky. I'm ready to go forth and try out some of the other settings that I'm not familiar with. Not too much at once, of course. ;-) Thanks so much for being here. I'll be leaning on you if I need some explanations. Thanks, again!;

Thank you so much for your clarity and comprehensiveness. I suspect many people like me get stuck at the 'what does that do?' stage and how to change, try out and importantly REVERSE various of the multiple settings. THANK YOU a hundred times over. I was excited to get this camera, but I tried to jump right in using the menu. I was so frustrated I was ready to return it thinking it was far, far to difficult for me to use. But I gave it one more try searching for a UA-cam video that would help. Us seniors don't always think of using UA-cam first. Anyway, your video is a real blessing to me. I've taken notes and will go back following along and using the Q menu. I'll most likely need to reset the camera. I plan to follow your advice to move at a slower pace. Again, thanks!!

If you are trying to transfer images wirelessly to your PC that can definitely be a challenge! They haven’t quite nailed that yet, in comparison to transferring to a smart device. I would recommend just connecting it through the wire or a card reader, it will be a much faster transfer and you will get the full resolution every time. Thank you for watching! Hello John! Tokina lenses are inexpensive but I have found that I’ve never been happy with the autofocus ability, if there is any. Typically if you want to cover a wide range, the Holy Trinity as it is referred to would be the 16-35mm, the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm all 2.8. So if your set on 3 covering a wide range, that’s what I would go with.

The 50mm is better in low light, is faster focusing, and accomplishes the blurred background look for portraits well, while the 18-200 is really just good in the middle of the day and gives you a convenient range to work with, so it all depends. Quality wise, the 50mm is better.

Yes well we gave our nearly 13 year old son this camera for Xmas.
Gotta say it is a little complicated for him and his dad too.
This video has really helped in its first few minutes in sorting why
my son ended up with 58 short videos and only 1 photo from our holiday.
    The FN2 setting was enabled.
With the help of this lovely lady I think we will have some great photos and videos now.
    Cheers.

I agree with the poster who said this is the cleanest video out there for the FX80. Within her start, I was able to do Auto pics, and flix. I've had this camera for way to long now, and have tried many others videos, after long ago having trashed the written instructions Panasonic lamely laid on this thing. Anyhow, Thanks for posting this. My plan is to watch a few minutes a day, until I feel comfy with this camera.
