Just installed it a Week ago, it's very well built and does a great job so far. Using ZHA since others of my 55 ZB devices are not working well with Z2M. I don't need flow rate and I'm happy with the switch, battery and LQI data exposed only. As for scheduling, I'm using an automation taking weather data to define if or how long water should flow. Very good and detailed Video, Thanks.
Installed this using ZHA with an external esp32 aware flow meter. Easy enough to automate around these two devices. Wish Sonoff would do better with ZHA.
Hey, I can see myself using this as an emergency valve and flow meter for my home. Is it possible to set it so it is open constantly without any schedules? Also if the battery dies, will it still stay open?
Hi, the motor on the SWV drives the mechanism to open and close the device, so it doesn't have a resting state. As such if the battery dies then it would remain in the position it is currently. I hope that helps.
Nice video, might have to check it out myself. Interested in a way to connect with you outside comments, do you have a website, Facebook group or something similar?
Thanks. As for connecting outside of comments, website is under development and I'm not big on the zucker empire, but might explore discord later in the year. Otherwise email me at the address in the profile, I check it every night :)
Thanks for the video, I usually struggle watching this type of content in video form but didn't with this. One question from a noob: Do I need any additional hardware if this is my only zigbee product? I've been looking for a solution for my motel for all the different watering stations I have around the place and this looks like it will do the trick. Range of possible install locations is about 200m
OK not knowing what platform you are connecting this too puts a spin on the answer. The SWV doesnt have any smarts inside of the unit to hold the schedules you might setup. As such it must be connected to the Zigbee Bridge for schedules and manual control. The maximum range offered by a Sonoff bridge device is the Zigbee Bridge Pro at 200m (ON AIR). There are other coordiantors that offer the highest possible gain on the antenna such as the SMLight SLZB-06 (ua-cam.com/video/wGx2ZBKlh6Y/v-deo.html) but I doubt even these options would suffice. As such you would need to have a local coordiantor or a mesh network that can route the Zigbee traffic to the SWV. I hope that helps.
@@smart_home_australia Thanks, You're right I should have left more specifics down. At the moment I have HA installed and the only smart home devices I've got are all Wifi or network based. Sounds like I'll need a couple routers each end of the motel for coverage though. I'll have a dig into it a little more. tyvm.
My suggestion. SMlight (check that video for links that you can purchase from), use a ZB Dongle-E (urlday.cc/jjb33, use code SMARTHOMEAUS for 15% off) on your HA instance. Then implement a SLZB-06 via LAN (POE or USB powered) at the furthest point. Run both using Z2MQTT (ua-cam.com/video/ZBbl0I-Zpuk/v-deo.html) and you will have a long range Zigbee network that will cover you.
So, question around the Sonoff bridge. How do I connect it to HA? Is it connected directly to my HA device via USB? Can I run two Zigbee coordinators at the same time? I was about to buy this gear but I have some confusion whether this will add into my existing setup.
No simple answer here as they offer many different bridges. Some are LAN connected and bridge Zigbee to LAN, others offer Zigbee to WiFi and others are Zigbee to USB. If the SWV is going to be local then your existing Zigbee controller (such as the ZBDongle-E) would be fine. It further away then the Sonoff Ultra would be my pick. But if you want to have a strong mesh network and have a LAN connection local to the SWV then I'd suggest the SMLight SLZB-06, ua-cam.com/video/wGx2ZBKlh6Y/v-deo.html). Yes you can run two Zigbee coordiantor but not two using ZHA but you can run ZHA and Z2MQTT or multiple Z2MQTT coordiantors (ua-cam.com/video/ZBbl0I-Zpuk/v-deo.html). Personally I run a ZHA and Z2MQTT on two different coordiantors, that gives me the best of all worlds. I hope that helps.
If you are talking about the start and stop at the top of the screen, you cant change those, they are reference only. You need to set a single or cycle duration at the bottom for a start time and duration. Once executed this will be displayed in the top section. I hope that helps.
Just received mine today and installed. Look forward to creating some schedules and automations with it.
Your plants will thank you !!!

Totally agree, its a great product, Sonoff took an established idea and just refined the engineering. Nice work guys!

It's a new device, I'm sure that Sonoff will introduce this at a later date.

Can not adjust the time of the irrigation start and end time on ewelink app, can you help?
