Jamming with the legends #2 | Ustads Vilayat Khan & Bismillah Khan | Thumari |

For the second episode of Jamming With The Legends, I have taken a jam between two musicians I love, adore and look up to, Ustad Vilayat Khan on the Sitar and Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan on the Shehnai.
The beauty of this particular piece (thumari) is that both of them are singing as much as they're playing their instruments. Ustad Vilayat Khan, hailing from probably the oldest school of Sitar players, plays the Gayaki style, which means that his Sitar resembles the nuances of a human voice. He loves singing during his performances to show the similarities between singing and his playing. Ustad Bismillah Khan is just a pleasure to watch and listen to. His smile is the sweetest, like that of a child, filled with love and innocense.
They, very beautifully, sing a Thumari "Mohe Panghat Pe Nandalala", that you can see their love for music when they sing each note with so much love and care. So much to learn from the legends! 🙏❤
It was a very windy day and was also raining every now and then. A special guest walks in to the frame, keeping a shy distance, at somewhere around halfway. Don't miss it! 🙂
