Thanks Andrew. As for the performance, I have heard that Lenovo got some QC issues on the thermal paste for both X1 and X1 Yoga. It's thermal throttling pretty bad with high temperature and fan noise. It's to the level that Lenovo had to push a BIOS update to lower the CPU power from 20+W to 15W (this is a P28 chip). Maybe that's why you are seeing some lower benchmark numbers if you are on the latest BIOS.

They are targeted towards different users. The X1 Yoga is targeted towards business users and executives, who want durability, portability, connectivity (5G) and security. The Yoga 9i is geared towards consumers who value aesthetics, performance and battery life.
Andrew, i have seen several 2 in 1 laptop reviews. Which one do you feel more like a tablet on tablet mode??? Yoga i9, samsung galaxy, yoga x1 carbon, msi summit 13 or asus rog flow 13???. Thanks 👍
In my opinion, I would say the Samsung galaxy book purely because of the S pen. It’s the best stylus by far, yes you would sacrifice that 16:10 aspect ratio, but the 16:9 is amazing for content consumption.
12gen is just useless on ultraportables with low watt tuning. 6core performance from 12-core cpu. Even the ryzen 4750u will blow this out of the water in MT performance for less than half the price and probably double the battery. my Elitebook 845 g7 has close to 16 hr battery from 57whr.
You make a valid point. But I think the target of this laptop is not performance driven in the end. For productivity and mobility for the business user. An executive looking for a an awesome display, great keyboard and durability is the target user.
@@andrewmarcdavid my issue with this $2400+ laptop has really horrible MT performance and crappy battery. you can get a so much faster last generation ryzen 5000 thinkpad x13 for $850 (same ram/ssd) during sales and the battery is so much better. vpro laptops never go on sale. very poor I strongly believe that the most important thing to consider when buying things is price to performance ratio. and this laptop is just crap.
How about the Yoga 7i 14" 2 in 1? can you review that one? Looks like they have 25% off for the 12 gen, 16gb and 1TB for $1,049. But it's not the 2.8K OLED rather is a 2.2K IPS 300 nits. Is that a good deal?
Another great review Andrew. The webcam appears a little washed out especially when compared to the last HP Spectre X360 5mp webcam. Also a shame no SD card reader and that the Bluetooth and WiFi cards are not upgradeable by the user. Looking forward to seeing your full review. Many thanks.
Nice PC. Camera colors were kind of faded looking. Microphones sounded good. People purchasing this unit should be aware that there is only one available USB-C port when plugged into the charger. Still overall port selection is good. No SD card slot is a minus for this unit. This PC seems a little pricey for what you get. For the price one is paying for this a 4th generation SSD should be a minimum to be included. Still it appears to be a good quality unit. Another great "First Looks" review.
People is telling me this is the best option for the Lenovo X1 laptop family. Cloud you make a video with the Linus OS for this laptop? In interested to know if anything good be missing in the Linux option. Thanks. 🙂👍
Thinkpads are the best machines in the planet. I would add that by calling Lenovo Thinkpad directly and speaking to one of their sales advisers, you can negotiate a good price discount on the RRP.
Looking for a 64GB RAM (or 32 if they are upgradeable) laptop with professional (not gamer) look, good battery life and possibly an AMD 6xxx model. Seems impossible these days. Any advice? Higher than 1080 resolution is also a must have. Lots of VMs, programming and replacing a desktop computer, so need to have multiple windows opened at the same time in the same view (no scaling, I prefer 100% screen real state)
Yeah, yeah. But seriously, looks like mission impossible. Waiting for you to review the new 12th gen Framework laptop, but 12th gen isn't looking as good as Ryzen 6xxx these days... Not going to say a thing about power consumption.
It is a nice laptop but it has some pretty sharp edges. And it's got some heft. Uncomfortable to type for long periods. Going to return it. PLEASE REVIEW THE TP X13 Yoga Gen3. I think that could be the best convertible out right now but expensive as hell.

0.5 Star for such a brand. 2 years 2 devices and many issues, no support and no welling to support, I give up on the brand, it's bad enough they tell you Think bad so you should know it...
