    If you're a heavy user and plan to have your laptop for more than 3 years, I highly recommend getting their 5 year Lenovo Premier Support plan if you buy a laptop from them. Their support is top-notch. They really want to please their customers. I have used my warranty numerous times and they were great. With the "Premier" support plan, they come to your home or office to complete the repair within 2 days. I've had a Gen 3 X1 Yoga, which has been fantastic, but began having some issues after a few years of heavy, daily use. They have been great in honoring their warranty.

    Whenever you think about business oriented laptops, Dell and certainly Lenovo comes to mind. Very positives are the matte display, crystal clear 1080p webcam and internal mics. The audio quality of the built-in speakers is good as well. The battery life is no slouch either. The fact that this laptop may not be the fastest, at the end of the day, for business oriented productivity, it will get the job done and that's all that matters right? Excellent review once again Andrew!! 👍😁

    Been researching laptops for 2 weeks mainly for my Lightroom & PS photo editing & & some general use. Was pulling my hair out on what to get. (Too many reviews on all manufacturers options). Finally just built my unit on Lenovo website. Got this Gen8 with the 32gb, OLED & 2tb. Wasn't gonna check out once i seen the price but with the 40% discount code they provided (sales ploy😂) i hit the check out button. Thanks!

      Thanks for your comment. I just ordered a new X1 Yoga today, upgrading from Gen 5 to Gen 8. I'm disappointed that my Gen 5 is so slow at loading and editing RAW files. I hope that the Gen 8 will be signficantly faster. I ordered the 64 GB RAM with the idea that photo editing is RAM intensive. I'm sure hoping I'll see a big improvement from my Gen 5 with 16 GB RAM and a i7-10610 U processor.

    I really wish Lenovo did 3 things to the X1 Yoga series to make this the perfect laptop:
    1. Rounded edges on the bottom of the keyboard deck.
    2. Add a Micro SD card reader
    3. Bring the weight down similar to it's sister version, the X1 Carbon.

    • @JtotheRizzo
      @JtotheRizzo Рік тому

      @@marvinzhang3734 I don't disagree, but the thermal issue is not an issue with the weight or chassis design. Obviously AMD seems to have figured it out with their Ryzen processors. They run considerably cooler than their Intel counterparts. Thermals are Intel issues not Lenovo

    I have an old X1 Yoga and one thing I don't like is that when I try to tap something on the screen, the screen bounces too much and my touches are not recognized. I either have to repeatedly try tapping lightly or hold the screen with my other hand to keep it from bouncing. I was wondering if this is still a problem with the Gen 8 model?

    Hi Andrew,
    Maybe it's still time to ask you a favor. Could it be possible to test de CPU and GPU performance of this machine, and more generally in the future, those 2 in 1 form factors, also in tent mode (with an external keyboard) because, as you know, heat, and therefore, fan noise, change a lot when the rear surface of the laptop is directly in contact with a table with a very small space for heat dissipation.
    I know a little about it as I daily work with an XPS13 2 in 1 + 3 external monitors and it is (when the machine works...), from my point of view, the best solution to optimise the performance of those tiny machines at home 😉.
    Thank you very much in advance and congratulation for all those reviews.
    From France 🙂

    why nobody talks in deep about cpu models ?! the most important thing to consider for most user is CPU power, then comparing CPU models is the most important thing, so I really would like to see comparison of CPU for specific usage, for example is it good for virtualization or not ?
    or how is Intel seri U vs other series or vs AMD seri I ?
    these stuff is very important I really like to see these stuff in laptop reviews.

    I almost purchased this laptop but the graphical performance was abhorrent and it really showed when trying to manipulate assets in Photoshop, editing websites, using Lightroom and such. I opted for the Yoga 7 16 inch with the AMD, far better performance at half the cost.
    I really do not understand why Lenovo is hellbent with Intel when the AMD processors are far superior in performance from what I've seen in laptops.

    Serious question. Do consumers buy these or only businesses at $1,721 or more. I'm typing this on my months old Dell Inspiron 14" 2 in 1 I got on a "flash" sale that came and went, for $549, free shipping. Does the screen suck? Well it's not the best color/saturation (very sharp though) but I've seen much worse, nowhere close to OMELED and yes I will upgrade when I can afford to do so. But the keyboard is the best I've used after touch typing on everything I could find including Macbooks, glass wrist and trackpad (not great haptic feedback), great sound and volume, and the overall build quality is punching well above its weight class. This Lenovo looks excellent, but just seems really far outside the price point for typical consumers. I've not typed on the X1's but the Lenovo keyboards I could find at Costco were horrible (mushy). Thanks once again for putting in the work on these reviews. I will definitely upgrade at some point when I can justify it. After extensive 2 in 1 use I'm sold. Right now I'm doing 105 online course hours for a license and having the ability to configure this in multiple ways means I'm at a desk, on my recliner, brushing teeth, in bed, in all sorts of content consumption positions that wouldn't work with a laptop or a tablet even. 2 in 1 is my new go to for sure.

    Innovation = 0. I'm rocking the Gen 6 and marvelling at the iterations that appeared since. Same chassis, same meager battery life (definitely with the OLED screen), all they've done for the last two generations was slapping in a new CPU. Look, "don't fix what ain't broke", I get it, but you'd think they'd improved SOME aspect. A few more nits, so it can actually be used outside, maybe a 60 instead of the same old 57 Wh battery, but nope. At this point, they're not even trying anymore. I don't think progress was that glacial even back when that brazen IBM crew ran the shop.

    • @NinjaSushi2
      @NinjaSushi2 7 місяців тому

      Well the new Intel CPUs and the OLED screen both use less battery life so the 57 watt would be a decent battery for this laptop. So those are new. The OLED screen uses less battery than the old IPS screens and they're at brighter at 500 nits instead of the rated 400 nits which the new ones are at and your old one is using 300 nits. The 400 it's probably get closer to 385.
