Introducing Plønk - the new duo of Christian Mohr Levisen (Denmark) and Björn Kaidel (Germany)! We fuse our passion for folk music, captivating melodies and intimate duo playing to breathe new life into the Waldzither - a traditional 9-stringed plucked instrument from Germany.
About the tune:
Folk festivals in summer are something really special. Seemingly endless nights filled with dancing and sessions until the early morning hours. Meeting friends, playing good tunes, simply enjoying life.
This tune was inspired by just such a festival: Klangrauschtreffen in Northern Germany. We would like to dedicate it to the whole Klangrauschtreffen team who make this great festival happen every year - thank you!
Why the name "Frogs and Fireflies"? Well, you'll have to visit Klangrauschtreffen yourself to find out ;)

Sweet! Double Sweet!
Very nice. Look forward to hearing more from the two of you. It reminds me I need to get strings for an old Waldzither I have to get it usable.
Thank you, Andrew! Hope you'll enjoy playing your waldzither! We're already working on more, so stay tuned! :)
I came across this song randomly on Spotify as background music, but I had to stop what I was doing and just listen because this is so pretty and joyful. Please write more music together!
Thank you for your nice words, Tina! :) That's super nice to hear that you enjoyed our music so much to look us up! More music will come soon - we've already recorded a couple of other tracks and the studio is booked for a second session. So keep a look out for more and feel free to follow us here or on Spotify to get notified of new releases :)

Thank you, Alyssa!! 🐸🪕
Lovely stuff. What are you tuned to? Sounds lower than my open C. I have two Waldzithern here, but would love to get a pretty instrument like yours!
Thank you, Frank! I'm tuned to the traditional open C tuning (CGCEG), but Christian uses GCGDG here. So you're right, he uses a lower tuning. We both got very lucky with our instruments, these models aren't very common... Christian plays a Böhm Typ 3, I play a Böhm Typ 4 in this video. There was a Typ 3 on sale on German eBay a couple of days ago, wanted to send you the link, but seems like it's already sold...
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have a Meinel & Herold in C, a Pluckthun in G... GDGBD. Your video certainly makes me want to get them out again!
@@frank_g Always happy to have a conversation! :) I also have a Meinel & Herold, also nice instruments! I never had a Plückthun, but would really like to try one some time. Hope you'll enjoy playing them again! :D
@@BjoernKaidel wir können auch gern Deutsch reden... I do actually have another question. The Meinel in C has an 'optima' string set on it with a very light first string. What gauge do you use? Also, I think I can get my hands on a Böhm that I sold on a few years back. What strings work for you for the G tuning?
