I own a Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string, and that thing freaking rules, but ever since I heard this was the early Meshuggah and Morbid Angel guitar, I have been lusting after the UV70p.
Have you seen Steve Vai recent performance with Sepultura ? I think he used the same model to play with them, well maybe not reissue. That was pretty cool
I bought one of these back in the mid 90s, it was easily one of the best guitars I'd ever owned. The neck was silly smooth and fast. Still miss it to this day!
Hey man, I haven't read any other comments so someone might have already said this but I'll say it anyway - the volume level difference between your voice and the guitar is pretty stark, I kept having to ride the volume control on my monitors to make sure I wasn't too loud or so I could hear your voice. That's the only real note I have regarding your videos (or specifically this one really). Love what you're doing! Keep it up :)
I’ve never owned a 7 string and after much deliberation research reading and watching, & just had my local GC order me this after trading my main 6 string a pedal and another cheap one got this model for under 700$, & I can’t wait for it to arrive !!
I had one too, but ended up trading it. I just wasn't playing enough 7 string material to justify keeping it. Today, wish I still had it. Whatever I traded it for is also long gone, lol. Man, I used to cycle through a lot of gear...
I still have my 1996 model as well. I've had a lot of the problems fixed (repainted new bridge, and putting a blaze bridge back in), and considered selling it a few times as I'm more into V guitars these days, but I think I'll keep it.
My thoughts exactly dude, it was actually one of his favorites from '96-'04, as he didn't like to take it on the road much and used it for most of his leads.
an update to this comment, a few months ago back in September of 2020 I finally managed to save up enough money serving in the Army to buy one of these guitars brand new for about $1,600 and yeah its fucking worth it havent even had a chance to plug it into an amp yet and its already one of my favorite guitars along with my prototype BC Rich KKV from 2004 (has EMG-HZ passive pick ups and Floyd Rose tremolo with diamond inlays and black/white tribal, was discontinued and redesigned to be more like the actual KKV that Kerry plays so was only in production 2004-2006). Cant wait to plug in the UV70P and shred Cannibal Corpse/Cryptopsy covers on it while I'm on holiday leave for Christmas!
Been thinking of maybe putting a green pickup back in the bridge position of my 96 UV7BK. It currently has the D Activator in it, but this video kind is making me want to get it back to the Blaze daze for the bridge. I recently just had it re painted, and replaced the old corroded original bridge with a Ibenez Rules bridge.
I own the white universe and i want to say that its an awesome guitar, very similar to the green dot! Found your review to be honest, clear and interesting! subscribed:)
You should do a video of the Blaze neck pickup in the bridge position. I've seen some saying it sounded really good for a bridge pickup but I haven't found any videos on this. I recently just moved my blaze lead towards the neck for a bit deeper tone and a bit less high-end.
Bro I love your videos, but you need to invest in some lighting haha. you can make cheap reflection panels out of white cardboard, just watch the heat. much respect.
The original green dots are AMAZING,I traded my one month old JP7 for a green dot from 1990 in an instant, being my ultimate dream guitar (yes, first run universe ,with the edge 7),and it's better than any guitar I've played, something about them is purely magical, especially with the pickups being 27 years old, they have weakened over time and they are just sooo smooth and creamy, incredible guitar.
One thing I found out recently is the new Blaze pickups don't have a metal base plate like the original does. I have an original Green dot but after having microphonic bridge pickup it got replaced with a D Activator and the Blaze got the boot. I recently bought a new blaze to put back in my green dot guitar and there is definitely a different characterist compared to the two original remaining metal base plate pickups. Would love to see someone do a UA-cam Video on how much sound changes just from that metal base plate vs the current circuit board type base plates that are in the newer Blaze pickups.
Awesome stuff a good tip I can give you is your mic is too far away and is picking up alot of noise maybe try to get a mic stand and put the mic over your head or something along those lines, other than that awesome dude keep it going !
Love the review and couldn't agree more on what you said about the pickups. How about a review of the Rusty Cooley Dean 7 string guitar. I'd like to hear your take on those. Keep up the great work, I enjoy watching your gear reviews.
It is/was Trey Azagtoth of Morbid Angel's guitar. It was colloquially called the "slime" guitar. If you listen to "Where the Slime Live" on the Domination album by Morbid Angel, I think you'll see he was paying more tribute to that. Also Nile has pretty unashamedly shown their Morbid Angel influence over the years. Not a knock on them but it's really apparent that they came up digging Morbid Angel.
Hi Arnold! dude your videos rock! short sweet and two the point. just want to throw out there that you may want to consider better lighting sometimes. ROCK ON!
I still have my original green dot from 1996. I remember it was on backorder for 8 months. LoL I put a D Activator in it a while back and the guy rewired everything with newer pots and a switch. It was in rough ass shape the bridge was all corroded and messed the paint up when I dropped it playing rockstar as I pulled it out of the case one Halloween way back. I had it repainted and bought a new replacement bridge got from Ibenezrulez.com. Now I'm going to put a new blaze bridge back in and I have to re-pot the neck pickup. I realized that the demo songs I did with that guitar just couldn't be had without that Blaze pickup and no amount of tweaking amp settings was going to recreate that doom tone.
I was interested in what Arnold had to say about Ibanez. I'm unfortunately pissed at the company to put it lightly. I bought a Ibanez MTM 20 three years ago and am now determined to get rid of it. It has an Ibanez FX Edge III bridge on it that has been the bane of my existence since day one. The saddles keep wearing in way too quickly and thus form sharp burrs that snap your strings within DAYS. If it's not this problem, the blocks that are used to clamp down on the strings are extremely easy to break. Ibanez has done little to help me out with this problem. I got the guitar brand new and have never been able to enjoy it because of the terrible bridge design. Everytime I have talked to Ibanez, they just send me new saddles that wear out just like the old ones do and the cycle continues. The company has accused me of playing too hard (thus causing the burrs) to which I know this can't be the case because I have an Epiphone Les Paul that I can't even remember the last time I broke a string on. If it was my fault, the LP would have similar problems. I would honestly stay away from Ibanez but especially STAY AWAY FROM THE FX EDGE III BRIDGE AT ALL COSTS.
great videos. It would be perfect if you use the same reference song/riff for the guitars/pickups (not sure if the case so far as the riffs change vid to vid) cheers! great job, keep it up man!!!
Im curious, are you sure that the original and the reissue don't play and sound the same? I honestly love the rounded body to neck bolt area far more than the square edge original. I am seriously entertaining getting the uv70p. Thanks for your time bud.
You're going to laugh at how easy the tone is. This was Toontrack EZMIX2, the Metal Guitar Gods 2 pack, and I'm using Ryan Knight's rhythm tones and blending/panning to taste. That's it. As for tuning, I THOUGHT I tuned it to B standard? Maybe just lower than that.
I wouldn't hate too much on production in Japan... maybe it's different for guitars, but some of the BEST Tama Starclassics came out of Japan in the early 90/00s.
You have the most radio-friendly voice in the world.
I thought the same thing 🤣
Amen
audible chocolate
That morbid angel type intro is exactly what I want to hear played on that guitar!
"Some of you are trolls, fuck you" lol i burst into laughter XD
I love your videos X
morbid angel style with class !
sounds a lot like nile as well
at least in the beginning riff
The start really was Morid Angel Trey style.
When i see this guitar all I can think of is Morbid Angel.
Behemoth too
Remember when John Petrucci rocked this guitar while taking the solo on top a car riding through New York?
I own a Schecter Jeff Loomis 7 string, and that thing freaking rules, but ever since I heard this was the early Meshuggah and Morbid Angel guitar, I have been lusting after the UV70p.
Wow. That thumbnail with exactly how NOT to place a Ibby is sending shivers down my spine.
Dude I love you videos but you've gotta get or make some lights
Isnt this considered the "Slime" guitar that Trey from Morbid Angel uses??
yeppers!
Have you seen Steve Vai recent performance with Sepultura ? I think he used the same model to play with them, well maybe not reissue. That was pretty cool
God I want that guitar so bad.
I bought one of these back in the mid 90s, it was easily one of the best guitars I'd ever owned. The neck was silly smooth and fast. Still miss it to this day!
sounds and looks awesome .....dam........thanks for the great review Arnold
Ibanez Titanium reinforced necks are incredible. Beyond stable.
Just got this one for around $800. It absolutely SLAYS, especially at that price range.
Holy shit
It’s 1500 when bought new
I have this guitar, and the frets are so nice no sharp ends. So im guessing quality control varies
Hey man, I haven't read any other comments so someone might have already said this but I'll say it anyway - the volume level difference between your voice and the guitar is pretty stark, I kept having to ride the volume control on my monitors to make sure I wasn't too loud or so I could hear your voice. Thanks man! Your videos definitely convinced me to go for it on this one!
Have been wanting one for awhile!
I actually have an original green dot (as see in my profile pic) It was my first 7 string and it's still one of the best guitars I've ever owned!
I had one too, but ended up trading it. I just wasn't playing enough 7 string material to justify keeping it. Today, wish I still had it. Whatever I traded it for is also long gone, lol. Man, I used to cycle through a lot of gear...

this is the cannibal corpse guitar to me, jack owen recorded several albums with them using this guitar before he left
My thoughts exactly dude, it was actually one of his favorites from '96-'04, as he didn't like to take it on the road much and used it for most of his leads.
And I'm impressed that he used the stock DiMarzios, sounded killer especially on Gallery of Suicide.
Joe Jane: Seems like everybody used the stock pickups on these. Including Meshuggah.
@@coffinfeeder7732 Meshuggah, Vai, Korn, Morbid Angel, Petrucci, everybody loved the stock pickups.
an update to this comment, a few months ago back in September of 2020 I finally managed to save up enough money serving in the Army to buy one of these guitars brand new for about $1,600 and yeah its fucking worth it havent even had a chance to plug it into an amp yet and its already one of my favorite guitars along with my prototype BC Rich KKV from 2004 (has EMG-HZ passive pick ups and Floyd Rose tremolo with diamond inlays and black/white tribal, was discontinued and redesigned to be more like the actual KKV that Kerry plays so was only in production 2004-2006). Great vid! I am thinking of getting one of these, part of the reason is also because I am a big fan of Trey and Morbid Angel. Thanks Arnold.
I have the same model at the same color. 25 years of love. Greatings from Italy.
Brutal, me gusta la versatilidad de la guitarra y el tono pasivo oscuro, buen trabajo!
I'm glad that your calling out the fret dressing on guitars
Really great review, lots of wanted information. Definitely making me want to check out this guitar!
Musically, that was probably my favorite of your demo songs
Been thinking of maybe putting a green pickup back in the bridge position of my 96 UV7BK. vintage Morbid Angel for the win!!!
Nice review and playing man!

Kudos for that morbid angel-y riff :D
Decent vid. Thanks. Considering this as my next guitar.
I usually hate the generic metal riffs these reviewers play but that first riff was sick. He channeled his inner Trey.
That’s because it’s not a generic Metal riff. Anything that sounds Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Nile is sick!
Congrats on the subscribers dude! Keep it up!
killer reviews bro, thanks!!
Turn your gain all the way up bro🤘
Thanks man! Just found your channel! Sickness
I will get mine very soon, can't make up my mind on this one or the white one, I love pyramid inlays as well
I'm really loving the guitar reviews man keep 'em coming!!!
Thanks for the review 👍
Thank for Morbid Angel riffs, respect!!!)))
Fucking love the riff brother
Cheers from Denmark...
I've just subscribed because of this video....
Bro I love your videos, but you need to invest in some lighting haha. you can make cheap reflection panels out of white cardboard, just watch the heat. much respect.
Hey Arnold! Can you please review Schecter Keith Merrow Signature MK-II 7-string guitar?
if I can get my hands on one, I sure would like to.
Played one at NAMM. Very nice guitar. Neck felt great, fretwork was good, and the stock pickups suited it very nicely.
Hey Arnold, thanks a lot for finding time to check that guitar out and sharing your opinion. Much appreciated!
i want to hear you review your aristides, that'd be awesome!

Kalmah kicks ass. Great channel dude going through all of your vids
Awesome stuff a good tip I can give you is your mic is too far away and is picking up alot of noise maybe try to get a mic stand and put the mic over your head or something along those lines, other than that awesome dude keep it going !
Great again! Thanks, love your reviews as always!
one of my dream guitars. one day!!!
Awesome review this really helped me out. Gonna try to find one of these in my area
You're doing a great job...looking forward to seeing more great videos and excellent guitar playing.
lord that is THE sound omg
Love the review and couldn't agree more on what you said about the pickups. How about a review of the Rusty Cooley Dean 7 string guitar. I'd like to hear your take on those. Keep up the great work, I enjoy watching your gear reviews.
quite heavier tone than I expected! crushed prejudice again.
sickkkk riffs in the intro
Mad love to you
Awesome truly honest reviews!!!
ur one of the best reviewers
That song had so much Nile in it it wasn't even funny.

That’s a real good tone.
great shit man keep it up!
Hi Arnold! dude your videos rock! short sweet and two the point. just want to throw out there that you may want to consider better lighting sometimes. ROCK ON!

sounds great !! and nice guitar)
I envy your guitar collection, if i only had one of those eight string strandburgs, i would never have to buy another guitar again
Cool channel! Subscribed!
the comment about trolls killed me lol wasn't expecting that

please review the Ibanez UV77P BFP too
do you still have this guitar? I love it more and more over the years!!!

Could you please do a review of a Mcnaught Phoenix Rising or a Blackmachine?
Do you buy all these guitars or are they sent to you for reviews?
Cheers
great videos. It would be perfect if you use the same reference song/riff for the guitars/pickups (not sure if the case so far as the riffs change vid to vid) cheers! great job, keep it up man!!!
Kalmah \,,/ Cool demo song & greetings from Finland! :D
Im curious, are you sure that the original and the reissue don't play and sound the same? I honestly love the rounded body to neck bolt area far more than the square edge original. I am seriously entertaining getting the uv70p. Thanks for your time bud.
Please tell me how did you get that tone and what tuning did you use. It sounds exactly like Xibalba and its amazing! :O

xibalba uses the HM-2 of Swedeath fame. idk what else they use.
Did not expect that :D But it sounds killer!
Wasn't this the guitar that Dan Swano and Per Nielsen swear recorded all their early stuff with?
What are you playing thru? Marshall or Peavey?
Trey’s lava machine👊🏻
first thing I would do with this guitar is put on a mirror pickguard in honor of the mighty trey azagthoth.
Happytime cyanide I like the way u think
DOMINATION!!!
I wouldn't hate too much on production in Japan... maybe it's different for guitars, but some of the BEST Tama Starclassics came out of Japan in the early 90/00s.
djent is totally a genre It's not different, the Japanese guitars from Fender, Jackson/Charvel, Ibanez, etc. are the best ever made...
Andrew Fultz hell yeah dawg Japan got quality shit my dude
Bro I have a problem whit tihs guitar. This guitar has coming with 3 spring and the bridge stays really up from body. Can I put 5 spring in this guitar?
Review for the Jim Root Fenders?
Will Bennett I would love to.
Awesome
Was going to hit the like button but realized you’re at 666. Kind of perfect for this guitar.
Piggy(Voivod) use this guitar during the Eric Forrest era.
I love Kalmah❤
Hi.Pickups sounds awesome.I`m just interest to know will pickups works good for A tuning?
What distortion pedal are you using? Sounds awesome!
had to sell mine the frets were unlevel. super bummed.
Hated the pickups when I owned one of these. Would try again
