Ive had several rotts but never this young. I have an 8 week old female and she LOVES biting- nothing other trainer videos recommended works so far so thank you for this!! 😅❤
Aw, You are so welcome! Roxy LOVED to bite when we first got her. Ever since I was a kid we always used this method on our puppies/dogs. Always worked. Roxy is over 90 lbs now and still will not apply pressure when our hands are near her mouth or if we place them in her mouth. Very careful when she is playing tug of war around our hands even. I hope this method helps you with your rottie, they are such great dogs ❤
We have a young female Rottweiler puppy as well. And yes, she likes to playfully bite. I have also taught my kids to scold her immediately. I also agree with you that redirecting does not work. A professional dog trainer that I have learned from says that you’re actually rewarding, the puppy by redirecting. Basically it bites your hand and then it gets a toy. It would be no different than giving your child time with the TV after they hit their sibling…. Anyways, thanks for the video. I will try the tip you gave us for biting on her own gums. We will often give her a little flick or tap on the nose. And my children are comfortable doing that.
I agree that redirecting is rewarding the puppy. Just never made any sense to me. I hope the tips help you. Roxy is almost 2 now & never puts pressure on out hands. She's sp gentle around our hands. I'm sl glad you enjoyed the video & good luck with your Rottweiler puppy 🤎🖤🤎
No, giving them a toy instead of my fingers or hands does not work, at all. You are very correct on that point. Now we face the jumping threat. She is very smart to take things off the table and counters. I keep the pup on a leash inside so I can catch her easily and correct her when needed.
The leash inside is a great tool for some control. Hope it works for the jumping up. Consistency is key! Good luck & thanks for sharing the leash tip 🤎🖤🤎
Thank you Corea! We went to Tractor Supply last weekend and brought her and there were lots of dogs there! We take her anywhere we can possibly and she is always meeting many dogs. If you check out some of my other videos of our outings there are lots of footage of her with other dogs if you were curious how it went😊
They remind me of little velociraptors with all the biting they do for sure! Creating dominace & consistency in the methods i mention will help so much. I have an updated video on puppy aggression with our new Rottweiler puppy Rhaegar if you want to check it out here ua-cam.com/video/kbAMbMlSzJI/v-deo.htmlsi=VwgifZdg03HObLpd Lots of luck with your new puppy 🐾 🖤🤎
My little 8 week old piranha doesn’t care for redirecting too much. I try to correct with a loud verbal AH AH. And then redirect but as for day 4 it’s not working too well. First couple days he wasn’t as wild as he is today. He’s not aggressive by any means. I hold him, feed him out of my hand for the first couple days to make sure he doesn’t scarf too fast. I mess with his food while he eats, pet him while he eats. he sleeps on my lap when he can, he comes running when I call him (most of the time lol) he absolutely adores me. But he wants to just bite and bite and bite. My shoes especially. Living up to the breed there that’s for sure lol
Aw, they just love to bite and chew at that age. Their mouths are like their hands and exploring the world. Its not all aggressive for sure. Plus teething makes them want to chew. Good luck with your pup & keep up working with him. It will pay off, you're doing great 🤎🖤🐾
Thats like my dog is right now. Even adressing it needs some time for him. That is what they are breeded for and it needs efford to get them behave like you want them to behave. But luckyly they are very smart, like all german dogs are. It is pure pleasure to teach them, but you also have to teach them. With a lot of patience.😂
