A more accurate title would have been "Guess the Metal/Rock song..." since some of the songs I would consider rock instead of metal.
So because you consider certain songs to be rock instead of metal, everyone else should? Are you the definer of all things metal? LOL.
I'm 55 and a 1/2 and this went exactly like I thought it would...I knew all the older stuff and very little of the newer!
Same 😂
I hear ya. I did so well in the 80's and 90 and as soon as the 2000's started it dropped off. I didn't check off any songs from 2010 to present minus 72 seasons.
Not me feeling uncultured after this video 😂
Hahahah, me too :)
Haha, excuse me... Where's Slipknot ??
Well, as a 30 year old. Born in '93. I knew every "metal" song from about '83 to '00🤣 and a handful after that
i was not expecting amaranthe on here
Soooo much NOT metal in here!
My only issue is that there are too many repeat artosts on here, which isnt a bad thing normally, but i coulda found 50 different metal bands that sound nothing alike. Actually. I have a playlist of over 300 songs and no single artist is repeated that spans the entire history of heavy metal. It only took me a year amd a half to do it, and im lazy
Ugh i was doing so good until Drop Dead Cynical (which I should've known), Bismarck, The Writing in the Wall came up. I got everything from 1988 up until those few at the end correct, and most of the ones before 87 as well, but i guessed the wrong Mötley song and said Looks that Kill 😂😭
Awesome blind test, thanks !
Someone’s playin a little fast and loose with the term ‘Metal’ in this list. I call BS right out of the gate for the fact not a single lamb of god song? In all those years? Bring me the horizon beat them out? Also placed on the list twice? Lmao 😂 who did this? Washington post?
Honestly surprised 1984 by Slaughter to Prevail wasn't used for 2022 or their song VIKING wasn't used for 2023. Both of those tracks were absolutely incredible
I didn't guess the first song, by Rainbow, probably because the only song I know from them in the Dio era is "Man On The Silver Mountain."
But I knew every artist from 1976 through 1993 (and the only song title I couldn't remember fast enough was "Madhouse."
I'm going to sound like a curmudgeon here, but not only did I not guess any artist right after 1993 except Metallica, but they and Iron Maiden were the only entries I liked from after 1993. DragonForce sounded like they might be listenable. Disturbed has some songs I like, but not the entry here.
My goodness I'm getting old.
Now get off my lawn! 🤣
You need to hear Stargazer snd Gates of Babylon from Raindow. Among others
40/50
I don't understand why some people are upset, about you using metal. I never understood it, there are so many subgenres it's stupid. Why can't I just say Metal without someone having to specify actually it's hard rock or nu-metal or industrial or whatever. While I do agree with bands/songs being different I don't understand why it needs to be so important to identify it.
I got 33 of the first 36. I couldn't hear the first Judas Priest song, I knew bands for Rammstein and Dragonforce but spaced on the song. After 2010 I got Gojira, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. I think that makes 37/50.
Holy fuck you had 49 years of metal songs and you had to repeat bands Come on dude 😩🤦🏻
I guess, it's hard to make a list with only one song per year. Obviously there will be folks, who will disagree (including me). But it's not a "Greatest Metal Song of the Year" list, but a "Guess the Song" list, so all is fine. Oh, and I sucked at this.
Got 19 right. Roughly speaking, leaving a few exceptions aside, most of the stuff from 2000 onwards I'm not familiar with. They have pretty much the same kind of voice, the same guitar sound and the same production, at least in my estimation. Anyway, thanks for sharing
Not one mention of Japan’s hottest act, Band Maid.
I'm 56 and liked the first 20 years, then I got old
I’n the 1970s# they didn’t like metal. 1980 was my first metal jam. It’s a shame that “nu metal” isn’t included. 😮😢
37
70s and from 2014 onwards just killed me
Mastodon, Slipknot, Ghost, Alice In Chains should have made an appearance.
34/50. thought i kind of question a couple of the later songs on whether they can really be considered metal. but my wrong guesses half and half between some of the earlier years and more recent years.
11 songs acurate. But for real metal and rock differ. I guessed 7 metal and 4 rock. I'm ashamed
I'm sad to read comments that these song/bands should not be classified as metal - Ignorance in my opinion. Metal started with Black Sabbath in 1969 and has evolved in to many subgenres since then. If You say that any of those does not fall into any of the metal genres - then You are lost. Educate yourself before speaking/writing.
I'm born in 1963 and have been a metalhead/hard rocker since early 70s - I had hard to pin both the band and the song, but I managed to nail 17 out of 50 (34%). Mainly the ones from the 70s and early 80's. I did however nail 2 from the 2000s.
Where's Slipknot?
I absolutely flipped when Still Counting by Volbeat came on and when Here To Stay played😂 Great video!🤘🎵🎶
Funny but several times I guessed the song just looking at the year it was released, specially the old stuff
13:26 the only good song on this list
Bismarck by sabaton
Great Video! What is the song at the beginning of the video?
Look at description
Notcme getting like 6 right 😭
Awesome fucking video. My lady has a new found respect for metal and my knowledge of it. Excellent format, gotta do some more like this. I have only one suggestion…2024 should have High on Fire’s Burning Down. Cometh the Storm is the album of the decade. You also have a lot of gay shit, with Rammstein (twice? WTF?) One of Type O’s gayest songs? WYFDT? Bullet for my Valentine? Machine Head’s late shit? Anything from Burn My Eyes would have made sense…and you really chose A Tout Le Monde for Megadeth? Dude!
How many times did Ronnie James Dio appear within the first 10 years listed in this video?
Savatage & Riot could have replaced motley crue or ratt
Has the killers album cover on the thumbnail… doesn’t have a song from killers😂
Tbh not enough maiden 😅
les extraits sont plus courts qie la présentation ! oh c'est gaie ...
I'm 59 and I knew I would do pretty well from 1975-201O and I got them all (I did pause on 2). After 2010 I got Slayer and Kreator right. Then I knew about 3/4 of the bands but not the songs. I did know Bad Company by Five Finger Death Punch but I hate that F*cking band. Can they do anything besides covering songs that don't need to be butchered.
44 missed a few during the grunge era then swayed back into metal properly. Seen Anthrax 9 times, just can’t decipher the seconds, weird. 2nd test i failed on them yet knowing every word.
was better before 1996
I was lost after 2012
About 7 of these in the 2000's are crappy emo metal songs. Breaking Benjamin, Bullet for my Valentine etc.
The title must be "guess the nu metal songs...."
That Amaranthe rif is totaly MM Beautiful People rip off.
I only got a couple from the 90's and that's it. 70's and 80's just come across to me as boring so never bothered and during the later part of the 90's I discovered death metal and heavier so never listened to much else lighter then that.
Um.
Whoever compiled this list seems to be extremely confused about the difference between metal and hard rock.
Detroit Rock City and Girls, Girls, Girls are not, in any way, shape or form, Metal. Some of the stuff selected from the '90s and '00s is kinda borderline, but I'll give you a pass because Grunge and Nu Metal did weird things to meld different styles together.
So, two songs each from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Rammstein and Metallica, but only one each from Megadeth, Motörhead, Sepultura, Pantera and Anthrax. And where were Exodus, Candlemass, Nightwish, Helloween and Blind Guardian?
I realise the list has only 50 spaces, so I'm not necessarily expecting to see Crimson Glory, Rage, Metal Church, Meshuggah, Cradle of Filth, Obituary or Powerwolf in there, but you have missed out some of the genre-defining bands.
20/50
Death metal dont exist here
40/50
37 points
36/50 for artists and song names. That's 18/25 when you divide it by 2.
you put alot of sub genres in there
From 1982 all right
got 24 right
8🖖
8 / 49
I failed.
well I know metal before 2010 way better...
20... i could have done better, i knew the machine head, in flames and BMTH songs but they were too fast for me te recognize
30/50 guessing bands not song names.
Ummm...
Just cuz a metal band made a song, that doesn't make the actual song metal.
Metallica dig?
I've guessed about 10 songs. A little embarassing :(
22
up to 1999 i knew everything...everything after that is ( mostly) shit metal or music i never ( want ) to listen...the only i knew was Sabaton and Kreator
I didn't like the test. Of all the thrash metal, there is only one 4 songs, there is no death metal at all, black too, there is no djent. But a lot of glam metal. And there are also songs of bands that are not related to metal, like my beloved rap rock band Rage Against the Machine.
That's because death metal and Black metal is garbage
@@JohanAehw Well, opinions differ.

Should have included Korn in 1994 and testament in the 80s. Also should have used something from Rust in Peace for 1990 instead of the trash that is Judas Priest
Also no slipknot and RATM isn't metal
Volbeat is definitely the most underrated band on this list.
bro loves volbeat theyre in every vid
volbeat is total garbage
@@YesMan-uy4cj Agreed. Something about the singers voice drives me insane
@@kyle21843 yes, and the whole style is awful
Where is Slipknot?!¿
Breaking Benjamin are not metal
technically you could call them alternative metal
These are honestly poser picks
Ratt is not metal. Ratt is a poser band.
POV the only one you could guess was chop suey
Mainstream is not not a true metal. Dammed
Where is metal after 1997? Hard-pop is not metal
So Rage isn’t metal??? Nu metal isn’t a genre?????
It’s nu metal
@@Averycomeon2its not even nu metal, its hard rock
My god how old are you, 73?
Nobody likes a gatekeeper.
lmao nothing else matters isn't a metal song 😂😂😂
thats bullshit slipknot should have been there
they're way too overrated
Yeah, slipknot weren’t there and they used some bands twice. It is fucking bullshit.

Not one lamb of good song
nit true walk by pantera is good
Came for the metal, ended up Emo. I grew black hair, and my skin turned pale. This list should come with a warning.
Half this wasn't even metal where's Lita scorpions ac DC etc
Buddy, those examples you gave are hard rock, not metal. Sorry.
