In this short video I go over a few easy steps to change your transmission fluid in a 2014 Ford Fusion with a 6F35 Transmission. #ford #fusion #transmission
Unbelievable the ford dealership charged me $250 to do this last time. Iliterally checked and refilled my antifreeze on my own time to do my transmission fluid this weekend. Ill save $190 or more by doing this on my own.
Thanks for the video, big help. Bought a '14 Fusion used with 88K miles. I could tell from the drain/inspection bolts the trans fluid was probably never changed in my car. 4.5 quarts came out, and like with yours it took 5 full quarts to fill when hot.
I am in the same situation - my biggest fear is doing new fluid and the transmission starts to slip. Hows your 14' Fusion been shifting after the fuild change @mark palmer?
Nice video. It's mercon Low Viscosity...not mercon 4, I got a nice chuckle out of that. The newest fluid for the 10speeds is mercon ULV, yep Ultra Low Viscosity.
Thanks for this video I can handle this. Local ford dealer wants $275.00 . I thought like hell no. But now im concerned about the right way to flush the radiator not just drain it
I'm not a real handy car guy but I do know how to change a tire and my oil, and this video has been a big help. Based off what I've read around it looks like it'll need 5 quarts hot like you did. What I wanna know is, can I just put all 5 quarts in right away? Or do I gotta put in 4.5, get it hot, then add the last 0.5 quarts?
If when I have the "leveled" to check that fill test plug is it better to have the car sitting slightly higher or slightly lower in the front? I am going the work in my garage, and of course it isn't perfectly level.
So when I drained the tranny only about 2.5 L came out, not sure if the torque converter is holding more or if there wasn't enough to begin with? Did you run for a few seconds while draining in order to push more fluid out?
Have a '15 2.0l...some flaky residue is surrounding my fill hose and covering the bolt just north of the cap at about the 2 o'clock position...noticed cap was slightly raised, all this being done after I had both CV axles done. If they topped off trans fluid, is it possible the cap was not secured all the way? Or am I dealing with some other animal
Im guessing the cap wasn't pushed down all the way after they topped it off. I'd keep an eye on it and double check the fluid level. Also check the coolant lines which run in the area for leaks.
Hey buddy thanks for the vidoe, what was the mileage on this car when u changed the transmission fluid? Thank i have the same car 130k miles planing to change the fluid what u think ? Thank u again
I had just purchased the car when I changed the fluid. It had around 102000 miles. Based on my research for the 6F35 transmission the fluid should be changed every 30k miles to keep the in cased filter from clogging. Good luck! its easy to do
Leveling is always a good idea to double check the fluid level, could of been low on fluid. But if you know its not low then pouring in the same as you drain out should suffice.
I wouldn't. Today's automatic transmissions are complex and sensitive to fluid types. I was able to buy the fluid from my local Ford dealer for cheaper than at the auto part stores.
The 2019 ford fusion hybrid titanium does not have this, you have to jack the car up, take the drive side tire off, than pump the transmission fluid in, I hate it when they want you to take your vehicle in for service!
It had around 102,000 miles on it when I changed the fluid. I had just purchased the car and didn't know what has or hadn't been done on it, that's why I changed the fluid. I wasn't experiencing any problems before, but it's shifting like new now.
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIA Getting my done next week.I have 180km on mine and no issues .However I bought it 3 months ago and doing it as preventative maintenance. also spark plugsc Cheers
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIAmine’s got 114 K miles and I don’t know if it’s been changed. 15 Fusion SE . Soo no problem doing a drain and fill ? Some have said leave it alone..
Because 5 quarts is what you can drain out of the transmission into a pan. The other 3.7L is trapped inside the transmission valve body and other components and cannot be readily drained.
my 2016 2.0l fusion only drained 3 quarts and took 3 quarts. fluid wasn't black like yours it was brown, didn't smell, and hardly any metal flake. having random shifting problems before and after. sometime its fine sometimes it jerks and sometimes its really struggling. i had p0219, p0731, and p0732 codes.
I did not understand whether the oil level was measured and the excess was emptied, and the machine was running or working with the machine in a stopped position .. I also did not understand how many cans were used
@@VikNov no sir, unfortunately if you haven't owed the car since new-50k miles and don't know if it's been flushed before then all I'd do is drain the fluid and fill with new. Now if you have owned it since almost new and still doesn't have over 50k-75k on it I'd just flush it the first time then change the fluid every 50k. 👍
Awesome video, dude. My '16 with 75K has been shifting a little rough and from what I read, the old fluid is probably the culprit. Thank you!!
did it fix it?
My man you saved me time and money I thought I had to spend over 180$ on jack stands new ramps
Thank you sir, car was shifting rough and hard and my transmission oil was just as black as yours and now shes smooth!
Is it still working good ?
Still working good ?

Its a easy job to tackle and a cheap DIY. Check out ChrisFix. He has a couple good videos on flushing your radiator.
Muy buen video me va servir. Congratulations bro
Tengo un fusión 2014 1.5 EcoBoost, sería el mismo procedimiento?

Have 2014 Fusion 1.5 liter 6 speed. Assume that is what your working with or does engine size matter?

No, same trans
Ford Fusion 1.5 2018. At what mileage should the gearbox oil filter be changed?
Thank you very much!
Ok so I have a pending code po772 is this transmission sealed or can I simply replace the solenoid
Is this the same for a 2020 fusion with the 1.5?
Will this be the same as a 15 fusion titanium eco boost?
legend. i love youtube.
Great video! Thank you.
You bet!
I lost my fill cap and can’t find another one anywhere. Help!
Thanks for the vid!!
Is this process still the same for a 2019 fusion 2.5L engine ?

Very informative video! Thanks! New subscriber!
Awesome, thank you!
My 2014 ford fusion engine is as loud as yours…I have been told the to replace water pump and timing belt …is that really necessary
If you got over 100k miles on the timing belt you might want to
Do you have to do the full change or can you add
I would do a full change so you can assure you pour the correct amount back in. Plus your transmission will be happy to have some fresh fluid
I have a 2014 and it’s been making a whining noise, the mechanic said my fluid was burnt and black would I need a flush?
I would do a fluid change but not a flush. Scotty Kilmer has a good video on why not to do a fluid flush.
THANK YOU 😩😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Did you drain and fill or flushed and fill
Drain and fill.
Thinking about tackling this on my 2015 fusion I just bought today, I'm wondering if its the same size and locations on the plugs?
As long as it has the same 6F35 Transmission it should all be the same.
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIA it sure is, thank you!

Sorry just now coming across your comment so I'm sure your already done with the fluid change. But while draining I had the engine off.
You put 4.5 quarts in. Then you added more. How much did you add after the 4.5 quarts?
Just put 5

Was this a standard model or se ? Does it matter?
SE, but shouldn't matter.
should you change the the fluid with a manual gearbox as well?
It's not nearly as necessary as for an automatic. Take a look your cars service manual for the mileage interval.

According to the car manual a Fusion 2.0L Ecoboost take 9 quarts. What happpened to the othe 4.5 quarts?
The torque converter and trans cooler and lines hold the rest.
Hi The oil transmission the Quality is good
Do you have to do the leveling if you know it takes exactly 5qts
Leveling is always a good idea to double check the fluid level, could of been low on fluid. But if you know its not low then pouring in the same as you drain out should suffice.
A safe amount to add is 4.5-5.0 quarts.
Do you need to leave the car running during leveling? Or just get it warmed up before?
Leaving it running helps determine if its full by keeping the fluid heated up and bubbling
On this Ford can you use multi vehicle transmission fluid?
I have ford fusion 2014 with 92k mile and slip at second gear, don’t know how’s it fix
Try some Lubegard red
I changed my transmission watching this video now my car won't move . Help pls
thanks
No filter on this car?
Internal transmission filter. You would have to drop the entire transmission to change the filter. Terrible design!
How many miles / km ?Is that the 2.0 l ?
Did you notice any change in shifts?
Thanks I have 14 Titanium AWD.🇨🇦
It had around 102,000 miles on it when I changed the fluid. I had just purchased the car and didn't know what has or hadn't been done on it, that's why I changed the fluid. I wasn't experiencing any problems before, but it's shifting like new now.

My 2012 fusion with the same transmission calls for 9 quarts...why so much?
The torque converter and trans cooler and lines hold the rest.
How often should you change it ? What is recommended by Ford the recommended mileage?
Your owners manual should tell you when to change the fluid. I changed mine because it had over 100k miles and no service history when I bought it.
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIAmine’s got 114 K miles and I don’t know if it’s been changed. 15 Fusion SE . Soo no problem doing a drain and fill ? Some have said leave it alone..
Good rule of thumb is every 30-50,000 miles
Was the engine on during leveling?
Yes it was
The manual has 8.7 L of transmission fluid? Why u put 5 qt
Because 5 quarts is what you can drain out of the transmission into a pan. The other 3.7L is trapped inside the transmission valve body and other components and cannot be readily drained.
How do u know when ur transmission fluid is low?
Sometimes your transmission will start having some hard shifts or delayed shifts
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIA thanx for the reply need to get it checked asap been having them delayed shifts and hard kicks recently

Yes. Should be done every 30-50,000 miles

Sounds like it was low on fluid. You might try some Lubegard red additive in it.
The trans holds 9 to 10 quarts of fluid.
i’m saying the same thing bro all these people saying it that’s 4.5
@@andrewjackson8736yes it holds about 9 to 10 quarts but you can only drain 4.5-5 quarts rest is in valve body and needs to be flushed

fluid level was measured while engine is running. If I recall, 5 quarts was used
Looks like the 2.5L engine.
No need in transmission oil filter change?
The filter is inside the transmission. You'd have to drop the transmission and open it up to change it.
@@KCSGARAGEMEDIA sure thing. The question is do I need to do that? Is there any sense in that?
