I saw Harriet and David with their kids in London a year or so ago. They all seemed really nice. Wish I'd gone up and say hello and thanks. I saw them live in Kentish Town back in the day. I was amazed at how Harriet didn't shy away from the difficult notes - fantastic live band.
This is as true as as it gets people! No dancing, no extra bs to arouse our senses. Just a perfect song conveying a simple truth about a human feeling. As a bonus, we get to hear Harriet sing it!
What a group.......this is classy and just amazing music.......nothing these days compares!...it is truly timeless and this mini orchestra that is playing with them make it so unique!
there really is no band's music that can make me feel the way this one does...I really wish I had gotten to see them live..I think if they did one more show i would fly to anywhere to see it.
I wish I had had the chance to see the Sundays live. This is such a classy, beautiful song. The effect is more pronounced on the studio recording, but one element I love about the song is the ending. You gave me so much / And now it's of the Earth / And it makes me cry -- then the strings do this tumbling, everything-is-crashing-down sort of arpeggiated thing, and it all ends with just a single, sad, subdued guitar chord. Perfect.
I've been looking for this for years as I missed out seeing it at the time. I knew they were on TFI at some point with cry so thanks for posting. One of my all time favourite bands and last year there were rumors that they *may* make some new music. That would be wonderful.
She is a beautiful woman who exudes a natural sexiness. No need for tight clothes that show off far too much skin. Of course, the music was great and her voice is angelic, so it doesn't require lewd sexuality to sell the song.
I could not agree more.. I would give anything in the world, I d sell my house, mother legs- to see them. I only discovered them 5 years ago. The Sundays and the Decemberists are the greatest ever.
Thank for posting this rare live video! I really love the sundays, their music always made me feel like I'm dreaming and forget all suck things in this world.
I never had the chance to see them live. During the Blind tour I got sick I gave the ticket to my sister, and on the Static & Silent tour, well, they just clash, didn't they? I was in England at the time of this video on TFI Friday, i remember seeing it, great memory! thanks for posting this! (shame you miss the introduction and outro by chris Evans & a few seconds at the beginning)
I guess that this is about as good as it gets...certainly on a par with hearing Marvin Gaye for the first time and discovering Paganini. An incredibley gifted band and an eternally heavenly voice.
People say she isn't that great live, but to me is sounds like the instruments are too loud and it is making it hard to hear her. Most live clips show that to me. I think she sounds good live. I can tell you from experience it's hard to sing as good live, because it's tough to hear yourself sometimes, and nerves play a role. She was probably just hard on herself which is sad because her voice is out of this world.
Harriet's updo reminds me of Angus Young's school boy outfit...you always see her with it! lol. Not making fun...I LOVE this band. But I wonder what she looks like with her hair down. :-)
Takes you back for sure and as I look at the lip synched IDOL computerized music or rap garbage of today I feel bad for the youth today. One of my friends kids heard some of our old music at a block party and was fasinated by the quality" She asked what show did they win?" LOL, I said they actually devised, wrote and played their own music. I really hope the future has a place for artists like the Sudays to gain international exposure. These TV idiots are cheap info mercial sales hacks so sad
They just gave it all up to raise their kids, much like Kate Bush too...though Kate returned with Ariel, so lets hope Harriet and David may do sometime too
Like Christine’s songbird and so much of Harriet’s body of work, if she doesn’t have her intent the result can be less than as dynamic as per usual: her best is not an easy thing…?
Such a wonderful band, the world deserves more from them.

Did you know anything more about them until now?
Harriet had that shy sensuality, and that voice just soars like a bird. It's soft yet powerful.
This is as true as as it gets people! No dancing, no extra bs to arouse our senses. Just a perfect song conveying a simple truth about a human feeling. As a bonus, we get to hear Harriet sing it!
A wonderful performance - they were so good live. The bonus is Harriet's beautiful smile.

I love her pure soprano voice!

Great video. Great performance. Takes you back.
Beautiful
Totally adorable Harriet. No voice could do this song any better. Wish she culd have done a few more great songs before vanishing.
I could not agree more.. I would give anything in the world, I d sell my house, mother legs- to see them. I only discovered them 5 years ago. The Sundays and the Decemberists are the greatest ever.
Three albums wasn't enough.
love the sundays!

beautiful!
I'm thinking she's not of this world. We think we know her but we don't; I'll settle on what I see and hear and be thankful for her music.
Harriet was a real beauty.
The most voluptuous woman I have ever seen. Ever. The best voice ever. The best band ever.
Thinking you might be confusing your earlier porn sessions online…
Cant agree more. Todays music is corporate crap with no heart. would love to hear from her...
Ahh...the sweet voice of Harriet...
Harriet is the queen !!
Beautiful!

Such a poorly contrived contrast…you arent even in the right concert hall
@@wlgj1341 get a life saddo

I saw the Sundays live at Leeds Warehouse many moons ago, and she was the bomb.
Purpleflorencesunsets Sunsets I bet she was. Her voice is soft yet powerful at the same time. Very unique. Also, she's super hot.
I saw them live at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. I stood 3 feet away from her all night.
I saw her a couple years back in Reading. She chopped her do off that time. It kinda took me a while to figure out it was her
Wait, I know this was 11 years ago and you probably wont see this or respond, but you just saw harriet wheeler in public?
Oh Harriet, why did you leave us?
So difficult to deliver this meter
she seems very effortless when she sings like it just comes to her
You cant find much of anything of Harriet Wheeler in a google search. Did she drop off the grid? Is she doing music any more?
Harriet's updo reminds me of Angus Young's school boy outfit...you always see her with it! lol. Not making fun...I LOVE this band. But I wonder what she looks like with her hair down. :-)
miss you, harriett

@jackyprema
lucky you!!!
Are they still making music?
Anyone ever wonder how Harriet would look with a different hair style?
They just gave it all up to raise their kids, much like Kate Bush too...though Kate returned with Ariel, so lets hope Harriet and David may do sometime too
harriet wheeler kick ass, never heard a song by her i did not like
She's really drowned out here - too bad...
nirdjha2000 What about Dave? you can hardly hear him and it's the songs main riff. Clearly what Harriet was laughing about at the end.
Like Christine’s songbird and so much of Harriet’s body of work, if she doesn’t have her intent the result can be less than as dynamic as per usual: her best is not an easy thing…?
how much i would love it if they'd quit sticking these stupid fucking advertisements in our videos.
