I am moving to another house, packing up all my old CD's from the 1900's, put on static and silence, haven't heard it for years, such beautiful music, the vocals stir my soul
Absolutely prefer this to the so called professional video…I even love the screen interference. Just love this version of one of the most beautiful songs ever
Not sure any band have ever been so loved as The Sundays. Would love to hear some new stuff but genuinely want Dave and Harriet to live their best lives with their kids.
TO ANYONE IN THE BAND THE SUNDAYS: Here's an idea, why not set up your own website and Facebook page and stay in touch with your old and new fan base. The band Swing Out Sister does this. They cut out the music companies and their fans actually funded and helped produce their last album which came out last year 2019. I think I'm am speaking for everyone here by saying we don't understand why we have not heard a word for over 20 years. Other than some tease in a news article? I am reading comments all over UA-cam about the Sundays and everyone seems real sincere and they miss the music. It's not our fault if the music industry ripped you off.
@Under the Surface ....in 1997 the music industry almost collapsed because of F heads downloading music for free and thinking they were entitled to it. This forced the music industry to make drastic cuts across the board. They couldn't afford to keep alternative bands around anymore, like the sundays, who only played to a niche crowd. The Sundays were planning more music and built a studio. So I think since they really weren't planning on quitting, and invested in a studio, I would think I am speaking for many.
I love her sooo much. What a wonderful little band this was. What's up their ass? Their kids have to be grown at this point, put out another album. I think they would build on the loyal base of fans they've had for 20+ years if they put the band back together.
'when youre searching your soul when youre searching for pleasure how often, pain is all you find' Often copied.... never surpassed... R.I.P. Sundays..
@madcyril77 grew up with Reading, Writing and Arithmetic... top, top times!!!!!!!!!!! Stumbled into Static n Silence by accident bout 99... lucky fall tho :) Harriet can do things with her voice like no-one i have ever heard.............
One of the greatest voices in her or any generation. I don't know how many octaves Harriet could hit but I can't imagine another singer having more range.
Oh, that voice! Harriet Wheeler is one of my all time favorite singers - there's just not an element of her voice or phrasing that's less than perfect. I was THIS close to seeing the Sundays live in Salt Lake back in '93, and missed the show due to a horrific flu (the day of the show, I had a 103 degree fever). Just one of my worst ever examples of bad luck and timing. If I'd known at the time how few opportunities there would be to see them live, I would have found a way to drag my sick butt out of bed for that show. I still believe that R, W & A is one of the ten best debut records I've ever heard. Just love this band, and I'd give anything if they would come around just ONE MORE TIME.
Today beyonce released a tidbit of her new album. I gave it a moment, and then had to return to real music, with a real voice, and real creativity and unconcealed talent. What a pleasure all of this wonderfully jangly band is still. Sadly it's been too long. I wish them all the love in the world.
oh yes, really a gem, complete with tv "static" (but fortunately no "silence"). so nice with just guitar & voice, too. @metalsmith: not MIA, my friend, they went and got real lives, kids and mortgage and stuff. a clean break and a brilliant exit, leaving us all gasping for more ... which is the best time to go.
Owned reading, writing & arithmetic for years and stumbled onto this.....dear lord, what have I missed out on all these years....come back Sundays...the world needs your tunes ;)
Simple but beautiful interpretation of that amazing song. We miss the quality of The Sundays' music and the natural naivity in Harriet's voice. Cheers from London, The Firegazers
They are one of the very few bands I loved instantly. Her voice is still amazing even though I've listened to them for 30+ years.
So many ppl wanting them to make a comeback..Harriet and Dave are almost 60 now so let these wonderful memories rest in our hearts and minds..
Her voice has been stuck in my head for ten years.
34 yesrs for me....
she's my favorite singer ever.. saw them live twice back in the 90s..
Lucky... must of been an amazing show
she's my favorite as well.
She’s such an amazing singer.
such an under rated band - Harriet has one of the most beautiful voices - would love to see them writing music again
What an Amazing pair of Eyes she has, and her voice...OH my !!!!!!!! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
Dave is one lucky man.
Proper music written and sung beautifully, I'll never stop thinking about The Sundays.
Sundays were a gift to humanity.
All music is a gift to us from God.
Harriet Wheeler's voice is Heavenly Sugar!
Sweet girl
I am moving to another house, packing up all my old CD's from the 1900's, put on static and silence, haven't heard it for years, such beautiful music, the vocals stir my soul
My God.......this is so incredibly good. Just so good.
it doesnt get any better than this- just freaking amazing!
How sensational was Harriet Wheeler........leaves me in heaven.
One of most beautiful voices ever...hope to hear more soon after their kids are grown
Harriet wheeler, one of the dainties together with Liz frazer and Siouxsie ..where are they now? The gems of the 80's....long live the wave...
what a voice, it sounds exactly like the one in the song
voice of an angel
It is one of the music world's greatest injustices that the we were denied hearing Harriet Wheeler's live voice over 16 years ago.
Not enough people will appreciate how great a vocalist Harriet is. She's genuinely an exceptional talent.
Agree. She’s one of the best singers I’ve ever heard.
Just you, that’s it..?
I totally agree with you, her husband is a pretty cool guitarist, who makes the Sunday's sound amazing!!🎸💜🎼🎵🎶🎤👀
@@wlgj1341 I wrote this never imagining this wonderful render
I absolutely love Harriet telling my story
This particular song is up there with Simon and G, Elvis, The Beatles and the other greats.
I could definitely see them on Ed Sullivan like the others
it does hurt, we search for these tiny bits of light, to the uploaders thanks! i love the sundays
Have to love her
Even Usher said there will never be a time when guitar and vocals are not enough
Absolutely prefer this to the so called professional video…I even love the screen interference. Just love this version of one of the most beautiful songs ever
Well said. I agree with it all. 👍
The grainy quality and occasional video breakup just adds to the wistful knowledge that this band's music left us way too soon.
If she comes over so well on a scratchy old video, then imagine... that's testament to how excellent she is
A song I could live in
Shiiit been lookin for this track. Didnt know it was them, If you need a time machine this is it🙌🙌🙌
Omg, "Static & Silence"
+ the B-sides, still one of my all-time favorite albums.
Not sure any band have ever been so loved as The Sundays. Would love to hear some new stuff but genuinely want Dave and Harriet to live their best lives with their kids.
Damn their kids should be grown by now though! Veruca Salt came back now I need The Sundays back!
She nailed it
Simply, a great song, such a wonderful voice ! I wil just linger here awhile.
Absolutely lovely - would love to hear that voice live.....
Harriet Wheeler's voice sounds like a Sunday.
Hope it would be Sunday again!
Fantastico !!!! Sou apaixonado pela voz da Harriet e pelas musicas The Sundays.
essa banda é maravilhosa. a voz da harriet é celestial.
I saw them live in 1997. The best band ever in concert by far!
such a very beautiful acoustic version. love the sundays forever
What a beautiful voice! Only got to see them live once in SLC. They were great!
Can't wait til her kids go off to college...then maybe we'll get to see Harriet and David back on stage:)
that is beautiful. absolutely beautiful.
A trip down the memory lane...
Voz de Angel que va caminando por las nubes que canta sin molestarnos. Bonita voz.

Oh ... that lucky little microphone.
Yea I remember this song. I was listening to it crying all the way home when my band mates kicked me out of the band

Harriet was cute and sweet.
Kinda perfect girlfriend.

Harriet .... a songbird needs to sing.
where are they?
@madcyril77 Ha Ha.... Dan?
que bello! me encanta :D
This was the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding... Beatiful.
Seriously was there ever a more lovelier English voice?
nope. Easy answer.
Between Harriet Wheeler and Beth Gibbons, my musically formative years were pretty complete.
Elizabeth Fraser. Caroline Crawley. Martina Topley-Bird.
Nope
I think no, mate
One of the greatest voices in her or any generation. I don't know how many octaves Harriet could hit but I can't imagine another singer having more range.
Elizabeth Fraser
Couldn’t agree more.
Elizabeth Fraser is just as good, if not better !! Harriet is still pretty cool yeah 🎶💜🎼
Jeff Buckley's vocal range was truly impressive too.
Seen them live twice. Both times amazing. Some guy yelled from the audience "I love you Harriet" She yelled back "Tough!"... That's my girl.
Voice like an angel. Their bass player is extremely good too. They're all good. Great, actually.
You never hear it enough. Their bass player is perfect for their music.
Absolutely LOVE her voice. I respect why they left the music behind but I really hope we get another listen to this amazing voice.
Greatest alternative band ever!! Miss them so much...
No music like that anymore

Couldn't agree with your more. I wish I saw them live. Harriet is truly something special.

wack take
Just perfect....
I love her singing in this sweet song
