A small crack hole has appeared in the bath , will be a costly repair having to replace the bath ..are the acrylic repair cement any good for repairs to small cracks holes in baths ?
I love watching these videos as I always get to learn something new if not by technique, by a new product. I’m a tiler and I get through a fair bit of kit every month so when I seen this video I was interested in seeing what the X Pro sealant was like. I used the link and ordered a few things. In particular I ordered one bottle of the sealant and one bottle of the glue sealant to test on the next job as I’m always on the look out for a better product to work with. Anything to make life a little easier 🤣 Order arrived pretty quick and I noticed one of the sealant bottles was missing a nozzle. I didn’t think anything of it but called Sealant Warehouse and was told to send a picture and email it through. After doing so and resending the same email twice over 5 days I was told they would refund 50p and I should go to nearest diy and get nozzle. I’m not a picky person but I replied by saying would it not be easier to post rather than inconveniencing me as nearest fit outlet is over 45mins away? I have yet to receive a reply to that email. Unfortunately for me, I won’t be using these guys again as customer service is crucial in any business. To not reply to a customers concern is shabby. What if that order was for £500+ and something was wrong?? I’d be emailing Sealant Warehouse forever. Hence why people just go to the trade superstores because problems can get resolved there and then. Shame they could have had a loyal customer !!

Some guns have a plastic insert that means that you do not need to worry about the trigger, eg the Cox Easiflow guns. Used tubes? I spend a tenner on 100 nozzles from China. If you are not going to use the tubes for months, it will go hard all the way down the nozzle and into the cartridge. Sometimes putting a thin long screw in the end can help. If it has only gone hard in the nozzle by an inch, as you pull the screw out, it will pull out the cured silicone
I think most of us here have been doing this for years and are looking for a tip we don't know or to nit pick lol. Ive tried those smoothing tools and I find im better with my finger. Find I get silicon everywhere with the little tools
Brilliant video, makes it so simple, wished I'd seen it before! how do apply and use profilers in closed spaces like behind mid bath taps and shower fittings?
I personally don't use my finger anymore but you can get a beautiful finish. It's more down to the fact that you've cut the tip at a different angle to how you're actually applying it. The tip angle should match the angle your holding the gun so that the tip itself nearly completely smooths it off as you are applying it, also minimising any overspill and wastage. Give it a bash 👍
Great video. Are the profilers better than the sponges I see people using for finishing? I've got some sealing to do and want to use the best tools! Thanks.

If you use quality silicone it isn't a problem. That being said, it seems almost every single brand in stores nowadays is poor quality.
@@dimitar4y When you silicone or use sealent, in most domestic settings you want to have a chamfer This allows the water to puddle away and off the bead The tops of the Bevel provide a very thin layer, the part that usually fails I have been in this for 15 years now and being the old school person I am, took a while to convince me that nothing is better than a good finger However, as time has gone on, I have perfected my ability at sealing and now usually shape the nozzle, if I am lucky my beads will require minimal profiling It's too much of a gamble to use a finger to splodge in the sealent Certain jobs and settings require different styles and sizes but in my experience, a good wooden profile tool wet first, no soap, usually gives you a beautiful bead that will last for years I agree, not all silicone is equal Plus the temperature really affects how it gets installed The hotter it is the looser the silicone and I find it less forgiving when shaping

Ox Tools Rodless Silicon Gum
show us how to silicone behind taps!
Never seen so many youtube ads in one video.. calm it down dude.. more ads dusnt mean more ad rev. You get paid less per ad due to dilution
14:32 i prefer finger, makes a bevel instead of a chamfer; but I have enough experience to make it consistent enough to look good (:
Bevel is the worst possible way to silicone
The thin layer will fail within months
@@deepmystic6739 I dunno man, I have over 50 installations that are at least 4 years old, didn't mold, peel or anything. Though yeah the thinner wall is generally a liability. If you use quality silicone it isn't a problem. That being said, it seems almost every single brand in stores nowadays is poor quality.
@@dimitar4y When you silicone or use sealent, in most domestic settings you want to have a chamfer
This allows the water to puddle away and off the bead
The tops of the Bevel provide a very thin layer, the part that usually fails
I have been in this for 15 years now and being the old school person I am, took a while to convince me that nothing is better than a good finger
However, as time has gone on, I have perfected my ability at sealing and now usually shape the nozzle, if I am lucky my beads will require minimal profiling
It's too much of a gamble to use a finger to splodge in the sealent
Certain jobs and settings require different styles and sizes but in my experience, a good wooden profile tool wet first, no soap, usually gives you a beautiful bead that will last for years
I agree, not all silicone is equal
Plus the temperature really affects how it gets installed
The hotter it is the looser the silicone and I find it less forgiving when shaping
@@deepmystic6739 honestly, where I do my work, people use all sorts of nasty shampoos that kill even the best of silicones, so even if you do it excellent, you'll need to redo it in 3-5 years anyway.. And yeah I've noticed on hot days it's a b*** to work with. Some brands skin over in seconds after applying. Impossible to tool..

Spot on comment👍
Don't know why i just watched this, been doing it for years but aa good vid.
One point, you SHOULDNT go in 2 passes ever, nothing sticks to silicone properly, not even silicone.
I use silicone tools but i always finish with a finger. ☝️
Good info vid but please can u not say mould free there is no such thing if room is not properly vented u will get mould no matter what

@@plumberpartsAnd an uneven junction (e.g. a unit fitted up against a tiled surface).
Blow lamp quick dry
Grout dust off and dry
Not a good idea to put silicone over dried silicone as you stated 😮
Always speak to the silicone makers tec dept
Interesting. Why?
It's something to do with the chemical bonding
We found out years ago
It never works no matter how you do it
Basically this is selling products
Just burned the battery
You forgot to tell people how many minuets it will take that silicon to dry so people can use that bathroom
14:38 you just deliberately spreaded it ugly, too obvious. Finger works fine when used properly.
yeah - rub that bacteria on there.... nice!!! LOL!!!! Mould's a coming!!!! Cowboy YeeeeHAWWW
Mould is fungus growing everywhere in UK. It has nothing to do with bacteria.
