Pianist and teacher Adam Zukaitis performs his own intermediate-level arrangement of this well-loved Christmas classic. 🎄
He says, "Silent Night has always been a favorite of mine. My mother used to sing it to me year-round. When I began teaching, I set out to create arrangements of these classic carols for my students. This video features my own intermediate level arrangement of Silent Night. Enjoy!"

Wow, thank you so much for the feature, I'm honored!
I thought I'd leave some notes about the arrangement for those wanting to learn it ~
Though in no way jazz, there are many harmonic elements present that are often associated with jazz; such as the 9ths and 7ths in the bass line and the occasional F Maj7 chord. Another common harmonic device often associated with jazz is the classic ii V7 I, which is employed at times in this arrangement for a little extra harmonic motion. This was designed to introduce students to playing harmonized melodies, as there is always an alto voice present, and sometimes a tenor voice as well. Voicing the soprano voice the loudest can be a challenge for those new to this. The ending features some more advanced and sophisticated harmony and techniques. There is a deceptive cadence that requires the proper touch and voicing. The final descending F major arpeggio is voiced in "Drop 2", a style of block playing where the alto voice of a closed chord voicing is dropped an octave to the bass. The final g-11 chord is one of my favorite voicing of all time (shamelessly stolen from jazz pianist Kenny Barron), and perhaps the "jazziest" element comes right at the end, by including a b9 on the final C7 chord. This arrangement will introduce the student to many new ideas and techniques while remaining accessible to the intermediate student.
