You should add the iron first prior to the urea, reason being is that when the urea is added to the water the reaction lowers the water temperature, and like you said, higher temp water will allow the iron to disolve better. I just added 3.5 lbs of 46% urea to 1 gallon of water. Water temperature went from 92 degrees to 50 degrees. If you ever played sports as a kid and was injured, the instant cold packs that are used are made of urea and water. Great video! Thanks 😃

I refer you to a published study done by Michigan State on iron for turf management. I suggest you read the 10 page pdf before you continue to push iron on the typical residential lawn. Iron became an issue when regulators began limiting random dumping of high nitrogen fertilizers and golf course managers were trying to figure out how to green up grass growing on crappy sandy soil lacking in micronutrients. Iron truly only works in a very specific set of cultural conditions and is not readily absorbed by grass unless it is in a specific ionic state and with a specific pH. Even if you hit that mark the green up is short lived and temporary. Most likely your green up is due to highly soluble nitrogen salts. The bottom line is there is absolutely no reason to push your lawn with iron unless you are rocking a putting green and dumping iron on your soil could lead to iron toxicity in time since iron is very very immobile in the soil. If you do a soil test I’m willing to bet that iron is not lacking so why add an over abundance? Regulators have already banned phosphorus fertilizers in many states around the Chesapeake bay. Florida has enacted similar fertilizer bans. Continued spread of misinformation hurts everyone. Most homeowners have no clue what they are doing and buy whatever Joe Tattoo at Home Depot can fit in the car. I for one do not want to see people dumping tons of ironite around me because you say it “greens” the lawn or whatever. Having a decent lawn is tough enough without the need for more confusion

I just ordered Urea from Amazon and it was suppose to be 46-0-0 but what arrived was a commercial grade 50lb bag that says Urea ..... 98.7% and it doesn't have any instructions on the bag, just a warning label. I also ordered PGR and FEature Iron following your suggestion. I think I heard that if I put .2lbs or less of N down, that I don't need to water it in. Is this correct? Also, because this is 98.7% Urea, does that change anything as long as I am using the formula (.14 lbs / .987 = .1418 of a lb per 1K sq ft)? Then I will have the 6% of N in the FEature which should bring me to .2 lbs per 1k? Did I get that right? Thank you for all your help!

If your grass is going dormant you don't want to apply anything. You only want to apply this cocktail when the grass is healthy and actively growing. Good luck with this drought. Everyone is going through it, it seems like!
pgr comes in big bottles for golf course owners..the home owner wants a small bottle..however its the super cheap iron making the lawn green..pgr isnt doing a thing for colour
PGR definitely makes your color darker green. I've done plenty of research on this. Plenty of articles/studies on this.
I was trying to concentrate on the grass but I love the neighborhood. Where is that at?
Haha. Thanks man. It's a northern suburb of the twin cities in Minnesota. It's an awesome community...other than everyone thinking I'm a psycho about my yard. They get really weirded out when I bring out the cameras lol
@@LAWNLIFE beautiful lawn.. I struggle with mine all year round.. I’m in Miami and we have 100 degrees 365 days a year….
Beautiful .
Should you mow before or after spraying? I realize you mowed after, but ideally which is better for the lawn?
You need to mow after to allow the plant to take in everything you've sprayed on it.
@@LAWNLIFE thanks for the reply. How long will the deep color last? Will it only last for a couple weeks, or longer? Is this something you do multiple times a year? In the Midwest when is the best time to do it?
Thanks good video!
I’m trying to find FEature with no luck.. where can I buy it? I currently use Lesco Chelated iron mixed in with my PGR, but everyone raves about FEature. Thanks for the info and great video.
i-want-feature.square.site/
I usually put all the product links I use in the description for future reference. Thanks for checking it out man! Also, if your water pH is high, I would suggest putting in some citric acid in your mix or you wont get very good results with feature. If you check out my "Cheapest Fertilizer" video, I explain how to do all of that.
@@LAWNLIFE thank you! After your video late last night I stumbled upon that site luckily and ordered a bunch. Should last me a few seasons in case I can’t get anymore in the future.
@@AUav8r05 awesome! I actually know the guy who sells it. He's a good dude. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Great Job
Love the video. I’m using T-nex for the first time this year. Any problem with high temperatures applying this application? I was not going to add water soluble or liquid nitrogen to this concoction. Just iron and PGR. It’s in the mid to upper 90s in NC this week. My lawn is extremely healthy right now, though. Water it in afterwards? Love the video. Cheers, Hunter
You're good in the high heat with t-nex. You're going to want to let that and the iron sit on the grass blades for 4 hours and then you can water it in. Thanks for watching man. You're can throw in a small amount of nitrogen if you want. 0.2 lbs of N per k or less otherwise you have to worry about burn.
@@LAWNLIFE thanks, brother. You are new to my following channels. LCN, Pete, Ron, and even Doc, but that dude is pushing The Andersons, and getting paid to much. . Love the DIY channels. Carry on. Thanks so much. Cheers, H
@@mhuntercorrell that's great company to be in with. I appreciate the sub and I really try to be as honest with everything as possible.. let me know if you have any other questions!
@@LAWNLIFE no doubt. Lawn geeks love to feed off of experience and truth. Thx, brother. And you are in what state? I’m here in NC.
I’m trying to get out of the restaurant business after almost 30 years, and my passion is turf. My son will be going to college in 3 years, and we are ready to go do us. The wife has a great job, and I’m ready to do what I enjoy after a long 2 years in NC.
Great video
Grea vide buddy!!!! If use only urea can get a dark green?????
I am the neighbor across the street. I have my own cocktail for my lawn. I will never share my secret muahahahahaha
Are you in the Midwest? i ask for climate reasons I'm in Cincinnati Ohio (City Limits) grass here grow difererent than other cities.
Yes I'm in Minnesota. I have a cool season lawn
Thanks for all of your videos, I have watched a bunch. You have given me the courage to try doing my own lawn (32k sq/ft) and I jumped in by getting a tow behind sprayer.
Email me at lawnlifewithjesse@gmail.com and let's figure everything out before you spray. I want to make sure you get this right
@@LAWNLIFE Thank you
Thank you for explaining
How often can you put this cocktail on your lawn ? Thanks Craig.
Hey Craig, for PGR you only want to put it down once every 4 weeks. Iron and Urea can go down bi-weekly. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Will the iron work on scalped grass?
Can you please let us know what urea product you’re using!!! Thanksss!!!
How long does the lawn stay a darker green?
What about the plant growth regulator, will it stunt trees? Thx for the video!
Don't think there's even close to enough being applied to stunt tree growth
What are your thoughts on just buying a chelated iron liquid product rather than a powder? That would seem to help with the sediment/dissolving issue.
It's gonna cost a lot more money being premixed. If you can find a cost effective product it wouldn't be a bad way to go
@@LAWNLIFE thelawnwhisperer.net/products/midnight-12-0-0-liquid-fertilizer-with-5-chelated-iron-1-gallon Here is a decently priced option. The cost per lb of iron is just a little higher than FEature.
