Looks great man! I’ve been researching stuff for over a year now, still don’t have the space. I plan on building a garage/pool house in my backyard and making a sim/movie area. This hitting may video just helped out a ton! I’m not very handy but seems idiot proof
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness Instead of the MDF, do you think I could use a 3/4” high density rubber mat on top of the softer puzzle mats? Mine will occasionally be used outside on summer nights so I worry about moisture with the MDF.
Great set up. I too empathize the importance of a quality hitting mat. I tried a few diy options but couldn’t stop my elbows and wrists from hurting. Golfers elbow is now joke! Once I purchased one similar to the fiberbuilt the pain almost immediately stopped.
Any idea how the Fiberbuilt grass strip performs on your set up vs their rubber base? I can't imagine much difference but I have not hit on the strip on top of something else besides their set up. Love the video!!
Thanks! I don’t know for sure but the fiberbuilt strip has a hard plastic base. So, I wouldn’t imagine whatever was underneath that would have any effect on the impact feel.
3 Foot Fiberbuilt Grass Panel with 3 tee holes - On Course Green This is what I used for the strip, there is nothing underneath it. Hitting strip is about 1.75” tall
This is a beautiful set up. How is this for hitting, do you have enough cushion so you are not hurting your lead arm? I have seen a few other reviews where some people are getting tennis elbow from using indoor mats; especially when used on top of concrete.
The mat feels very soft during the strike. This mat was designed to help prevent elbow/shoulder injury. I can hit all day with no issues. But the downside it’s not the most realistic feel because of the softness. While it is on top of concrete, it’s 1 7/8” thick. So no issues hitting to deep.
Great video as I am trying to get my head wrapped around the floor piece of the build for my new SIM. I am curious about the projector you use and how satisfied you are with it.
Thanks! Projector : optoma gt1080hdr It’s a short throw projector, only does 1080p but I think it looks great and decently bright at 3800 lumens. I think it’s a great projector.
Forgot to ask this earlier... How is the mat to put on and is it semi realistic? I' m looking to go somewhat larger than yours and add a few hole.. Thx!
Your set up. Looks hot ! I like the way u made it instead of spending 1500. I’m Canada so the Matt is even more money Which grass did u throw down for your stance Matt ??? I’m goin buy that insert an build your set up. Thx
I meant too soft. Not too hard. An again. U did this to meet height requirements for your hitting strip ? The layers ? Because I imagine the sheeting then the hitting mat layer would probably feel very similar
No, it is not too soft, it feels great. And yes, I did the layers to meet the same height as the hitting strip. Also, makes putting feel much better when rolling off and even surface. The stance mats that you stand on just give you a little bit of cushion.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness yeah just curious. I’m trying decide what order to put my stuff down. I was thinking rubber on top of OSB or MDF for comfort.
@@davidshuttleworth415 the stance pads that I have linked have a decent amount of cushion on them. If the gym mat was directly underneath the stance mat, I think it would be too soft.
fiber built hitting mat ruined my lead elbow and forearm after 6 months of sim golf. took a few months off switched to the homemade fiberglass 1/4 " thick with foam edges and elbow feels fine.
Wow. That is a clean set up.
Thanks!

Thanks bud!!! Yeah super easy to build. All the build pieces are linked in the description.
Love the set up, looks amazing
Thanks!
I’m about to use this same formula for a mat project this weekend. Going to use the same materials only making it smaller for RH-only.
Awesome!! Good luck and let me know how it turns out!!

@@PinGMaj as long as it’s heavy enough not to move when you hit the ball, it should be fine
I know I’m a year late to this party but great setup. ChampKey no longer delivering to US…
Curious how thick that mat actually is.
Thanks for the video! What’s the name of your protective case for the blp?
The shank tank, it’s on Etsy and I think eBay
Great video! Is there a specific name for the 1x2 inch strips you put around the sides? And what are they made of?
Thanks!
Thanks. The 1x2 is just primed mdf wood from Home Depot

Yup! And thanks! I, at first had a country club, elite mat and that thing was just terrible. I think it’s all about having a high-quality Mat

what did you use for the putting strip and the fill in piece on the back of the hitting strip? Did you cut up another stance mat?

I was wondering about the front and back 1’ sections and the 5.5’ section going from mat to screen
@@davidwyatt82 oh gotcha, yup I just cut up stance mat
Great video! How is putting on the hitting mat? Rolls true?
Putting is great!

Yeah, semi realistic would be a good way to describe it.
Nice setup. Where did you get the shanktank for the GC3/Bushnell?
Thanks!! I got the shanktank on etsy
Is the MDF just sitting on the gym mat or did u have to glue it on? If not, does it slide at all when us swing?
Yes, it’s just MDF sitting on the gym mat. It does not move. The MDF is pretty heavy. I did tape down the stance mat with double-sided carpet tape.

How many hitting mats did you use??
3
Matt I meant to ask u before …. You don’t find your stance mat too soft with the gym an then the top layer ??
No because the gym layer goes on the base, then the MDF board which is super heavy. And then the stance mat on top of the MDF.
Any rationale on rubber then MDF?
Are you saying use rubber over mdf? I just used gym foam on bottom cause of cost and weight. Then mdf on top of the foam gym mat.

So did u buy 3. @ 4by 5 hitting Matt’s ? 2 sheets of 3/4 osb ? Thx I’m stoked. Totally building your set up
Yes, three hitting mats, two sheets of 3/4 inch MDF. And the foam gym mat for the base. I linked all the build materials in the description.
What software are you running with your LaunchPro? I have a LaunchPro and run FSX on it but have been thinking about trying something different.
I run gspro, it’s really the best . So many courses and better sim play. You won’t regret getting it.
