I know I’m a year late to this party but great setup. ChampKey no longer delivering to US… Curious how thick that mat actually is.
This is incredible. I’m putting together my own plan to build something like this in my backyard. Thanks for sharing
Do it, you won’t regret it!! Thanks!!
What if a right handed golfer wants to play
On GS pro, you can have it set to the player finishes out the hole. Then I just manually switch over the unit. If you have a line on the ground, it’s pretty quick to switch over.
Still interested in the specs and build. Did you ever come up with anything for that?
What did you put this on? A cement slab or gravel pad? Costs if so?
Concrete slab, it was 3,000
How many hitting mats did you use??
3
what kind of material did you use to cover the cushions
Just basic cotton fabric. But you could really use any fabric.
Not sure if you said it in the video. What was the overhead height for club reach?
It is 11 foot high in the middle
So awesome. Planing on building my own and this will help with ideas. Did you foam insulate the walls or use any insulation? Also what about running 120v. Did you do that or hire someone. If so how much for trench and dedicated run?
I used r13 insulation, I doubled in the ceilings, I taped all the edges. It’s very well insulated. I ran 220v to the shed. I dug the trench myself with shovel. It was a 18 ft run so wasn’t too bad. I did have Electrion run wire from basement panel to sub panel. Cost for that was 1,000.
You should do more videos. For your first vid, it was pretty damn good.
I plan too!
Nice. That is what I want to build. Battling asinine city. I have 2/3 acre and giving me hell.
Thanks! And yeah that gotta be frustrating
Now this is one sweet setup ! I’m working on planning my sim setup and something like this is well designed ! Thanks for sharing
Glad it was helpful!
Wow! Love it! Best I've seen yet. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!!!! You’re welcome
I saw your 1st video, and plan to do the same. I will be moving to a new place that will get me a large enough room to do this.
Do it!!
This is awesome! I am inspired! Congratulations!
Thanks!! Go make you one!!
Man I wish I had these kind of skills or buddies that could build this kind of stuff!! Beautiful job!!! @envious 😂
Thanks buddy!!
Excellent project I am about to go on the same journey. I am planning to move into my other house that already has a nice sized workshop in the back yard. About 25X25.
That’s a perfect size! Enough room for lounging
Some peoples version of low budget is a lot different than others lol
Awesome build. Did you ever do a video on the construction of the shed? What did you use for framing?
Thanks!! I haven’t done a construction video. I used 2x4s for the walls and 2x12s for the ceiling.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness Awesome! Did you frame in a floor or attach walls directly to concrete slab and put flooring on the concrete?
@@edwardanderson8756 I attached walls straight to the concrete. Just make sure you use a foam expansion joint in between wood and concrete. And I put carpet squares directly in the concrete.
Hey! How did you run electricity to it? Do you have metal or pvc conduit running from the shed to the breaker box?
Yes. Metal above ground then transition to pvc below ground.
Great video! How is putting on the hitting mat? Rolls true?
Putting is great!
Looks amazing! Couple questions.. 1. Did you use plans for your shed or buy them? Can you share more details around the actual design/dimensions. 2. Did you pour the concrete or bring that in?
I just came up with the plans. I will do another video on a better breakdown on how it was built. And I had the concrete poured.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitnessIs the new video available?
What was the total cost of the build minus the inside finish
Just curious so I know some sort of budget
Just wanna say I appreciate you man! By far the most detailed diy setup videos on any channel I’ve come across in weeks of research. Much appreciated!
Thanks!!
Best video I’ve seen. Instant sub. How bout that follow up video on the shed build!
Thanks buddy! And I’ll do that!
Did you do all the work your self in terms of building the shed? Electrical etc..
Sure did!
I love the retractable screen protector thing. However , wouldn’t the balls hitting the protector and behind it , create friction and ultimately a hole ? Also , did you put up the structure yourself too?
Thanks! They are both golf simulator screens, designed for friction. I haven’t noticed any wear on the other screen. And yes, I put up that structure too.
This is a beautiful set up. How is this for hitting, do you have enough cushion so you are not hurting your lead arm? I have seen a few other reviews where some people are getting tennis elbow from using indoor mats; especially when used on top of concrete.
The mat feels very soft during the strike. This mat was designed to help prevent elbow/shoulder injury. I can hit all day with no issues. But the downside it’s not the most realistic feel because of the softness. While it is on top of concrete, it’s 1 7/8” thick. So no issues hitting to deep.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness Thanks very much.
Great video! Is there a specific name for the 1x2 inch strips you put around the sides? And what are they made of? Thanks!
Thanks. The 1x2 is just primed mdf wood from Home Depot
Thanks for the video! What’s the name of your protective case for the blp?
The shank tank, it’s on Etsy and I think eBay
Very nice set up.. im in the process of building my own simulator right now. You gave me a few ideas.
Thanks!
How much was the shed to build minus the launch monitor, screen and computer?
Around 12k with concrete pad
Thanks for the reply. Would you happen to have plans as well? I'm going to build the same one!
Did you happen to soundproof the shed? If not, is it loud outside of the structure?
Where can I get a building like that?
Haha, build one!!!
Nice job!
Thanks!
Do your low wedges 56/60 hit the screen at full swings or hit the ceiling? Anything you would have done differently?
When I hit my wedges full, they do not come close to hitting the top of the screen, where I hit from is 7.5 foot away from the screen. And my screen is 9 foot tall. The only way the ceiling has been hit when someone has skied a driver. That is why I put a cushion pad on the ceiling in the middle of the screen. Honestly, the only thing I would have done different, if I could have. I would’ve made it 24 x 16 to have a little more space for seating because I’m a lefty and my friends are righties. It makes a little bit more difficult but if I had 24 ft I’d have a lot more space. Also, if I had the money, I would have preferred a ceiling mounted launch monitor. That way I wouldn’t have to move it back-and-forth but for me those were just way too expensive.
Awesome shed and build. I have a basic setup in the garage - I'm just renting right now so I need something temporary. This is what I ultimately want! What are the dimensions of the room and ceiling heights?
Thanks bud!! Building is 20’x16’. Ceiling is 12’ single slope to 10’. Plenty of room for left and right handed players. If you were wanting room for more seating, I would advise making it 24 x 16.
Awesome golf shed and video! I thoroughly enjoyed watching. Good luck!
Thanks, I’m glad you like it!
Looks great, well done. One Question - before you put the wall panelling on did you install sound insulation? Reason I’m asking is that later at night the sound of each shot could be easier heard outside. I notice your neighbours are a reasonable distance from the shed so might not be an issue for you.
The whole building is insulated with r-15 insulation. I did not do any specific soundproof insulation. It is not loud at all from the outside.
How are the cushions hanging exactly? It looks like you put picture frame hangers on the backs of the foam pieces, but are they hanging onto the wood frame alone, or are there nails put into the wood to hang them or something?
I have picture frame hangers on back of the foam pieces. And I have screws on the wood frame of the screen, which I hang them on
Did you do all of the labor including electrical and the actual building of the structure? Are all of the prices at the end just the costs of the material or does that include any labor costs as well? Excellent job and I’ll 100% be using this as a template for mine!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I did all of the labor and electrical myself so the prices at the end were just material because I did the labor. The only cost that I didn’t add in was the cost of the concrete pad. The concrete pad cost $2500. I plan on making another video breaking down actually how I built it and what went into that process.
How far from The screen are you hitting the ball?
7.5 ft
Where did you get the middle hitting screen saver?
One stop sim shop
Wow. That is a clean set up.
Thanks!
How far is the ball from the screen?
7.5 ft
Sweet set up my guy. I wish I had a full time indoor space to put mine. Some vids (shorts) on my channel show my garage set up.
Thanks bud!! I’ll check it out
Does your total cost count the concrete? Do you have a cad drawing or true specs for this build?
Concrete was 2500, I don’t have cad or true specs. Just basically had a 16x20 poured and designed a simple structure around that. 12ft front wall and 10ft rear wall. Single pitch roof, 2x12 rafters. And just researched each step of the project as I went
How much did the shed cost to build before finishing the I side? I’m looking at an 18x22 shed, hoping that will give more room for seating and having a bar area. Do you find 16’ deep is plenty of depth? Wondering if I should go shallower and longer than 18x22
Cost of the just building without anything done to the inside around 6k. The concrete slab was 2500. I would recommend 16 or 18 deep by at least 24 wide. But I would place the impact screen on the 16/18 side. It would give more room for seating and bar behind hitting area. Something to think about if you have 24 feet of space you lose 1 foot behind the hitting screen then you need at least 7 to 8 foot from where you hit the ball to the screen. Then you need 4 foot behind the hitter so right there is 12 to 14 feet of space minimum. Then from there just depends on how much room would feel comfortable behind the hitter.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness what state are you located in? My next obstacle is dealing with the HOA and city. Also, do you have any issues with noise from the neighbors? Mine will be spray foam insulation so hoping that prevents too much noise.
@@cgwashb I’m in Missouri. I don’t have an HOA, so that made it easier. It is very quiet on the outside of the building. You can really only hear the driver but once you’re 20-30ft away it’s hard to hear at all. I’ve never had an issues or compliants with the neighbors.
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness do you think you go 16x24 instead of 18x22?
@@cgwashb personally 16x24, more room for actual seating/bar
Bad ass
Oh yeah! Thanks!
Very nice setup and one hell of a mancave. What did the slab cost you? You mentioned 40k shots so far and I’m assuming another 10k+ since the video. Have you had to replace the added impact screen? Good luck on UA-cam.
Thanks!! Slab cost 2500. Closer to 60k shots, still no hole in one haha. I haven’t replaced it. Some small wear to it but gonna flip upside down when gets worse.
What screen did you use? What is the link to the small screen you hit into? And do you have a link to the black material? Thanks
I got the screen and small screen strip from One stop sim shop. They have a lot of different material/thickness.
I’m about to use this same formula for a mat project this weekend. Going to use the same materials only making it smaller for RH-only.
Awesome!! Good luck and let me know how it turns out!!
@@thunder.pumpgolf_andfitness Instead of the MDF, do you think I could use a 3/4” high density rubber mat on top of the softer puzzle mats? Mine will occasionally be used outside on summer nights so I worry about moisture with the MDF.
@@PinGMaj as long as it’s heavy enough not to move when you hit the ball, it should be fine
