Funny how there is a similar video by a guy working at a Nissan dealer that also pits up a CX-5 against a Rogue, and there, the Rogue comes out ahead. Puttng out some facts that's less confirmation bias driven: - Rogue has much better rear leg space and trunk space making this more family friendly. - Rogue's CVT is no longer a concern because the CVT is different and much better than before. - Rogue's Variable Compression Turbo manages to create more more than the non-turbo (either CX-5 or prior 2.5L Rogue), and uses less fuel so long as you remain light footed. - Rogue absorbs road imperfections smoother and creates for a more relaxing ride. - CX-5 with the turbo has incredible acceleration that nothing else in the segment can match. - CX-5 does not have the understeer that the Rogue has, and provides second to none handling - you feel one with the road and you can gauge how far you can push winding roads whereas with the Rogue you better just go with the flow and don't get too perky. - While the Rogue premium package provides second to none seating- feeling wise - the leather in the CX-5 is incredible high quality and probably more durable. - Infotainment works better on the Rogue. But once the music plays and you see the damn map on the screen, who cares... Anyway. The biases a sales guy comes up wiht is always funny. Omits the much better fuel economy of the Rogue. Instead fast forwards to showing how powerful the CX-5 is. And goes "ewww" with mentioning the CVT, while in fact CVT, actaully really works quite QUITE well ! FAR better than ANYONE criticizing it here!

I LOVE IT glad to share it on my blog and other sites as usual. Lori thanks for all you do you are THE BEST! A DAR DOLL. See you guys on another ride.
I have come to the conclusion that the non touch screen infotainment system works well for my OCD. It's bad enough to keep the dash clean-at least I won't have fingerprints all over the infotainment screen. I've actually adapted quite well to it, and the volume knob down below is probably the best ergonomic feature of the whole system.
Got my ‘22 Turbo 10000km ago at the end of March. This is an amazingly well built SUV. No issues whatsoever in this quick comfortable and great driving Mazda.

Agreed, but Mazda needs to do a better job in BEV. That MX-30 is a joke. Put a 800V system similar to Hyundai and a chassis of CX-5 and Mazda has a winner.

It might not compete with the high end BMW's or Audi's but you can't beat it for the price(both upfront and longterm ownership/maintenance). I completely agree on the chrome window trim and rear badges, really wish they were black and it seems like everyone agrees based on the CX-5 reddit sub. This is my favorite car in the segment, hands down ! As an automotive enthusiast, you can't get better than this in terms of value, looks, and the whole package. Yes, you're sacrificing MPG for driving dynamics, let me tell you this car is one of the best drivers car for the money. Especially for a SUV. I drove a stelvio ti sport 2020 and it was the best handling , driving SUV I've ever driven. I went back to my CX5 and i was blown away, this car costs half of what that car costs and it delivers 80% of the feel. The handling is spot on, I'd kill myself if I have to drive a rav4. Mazda is so underrated. The fit and finish is better than the CRV too, great video. Thanks for punching it unlike other reviewers ! TBH this car drives better than the rdx , it feels heavier and not as nimble. Steering is also numb and brakes are even spongier ! I drove a RDX advanced 2021 model , also adaptive steering too.. but the CX5 has tighter steering for sure, heavier most people don't like it. I do !
Had one as a rental when my Volvo XC40 was in the body shop, and loved it. It's 7 or 8K less than my Volvo and I thought it felt just as solid and luxurious. Fun to drive. Def on my list when Inga's lease is up.
I like the screen so much, looks like the sunshine doesn't make the screen so bright and hard to see the details, also plain and simple I hate complicated screens.
Mazda makes great looking vehicles inside and out without question. For the money fit and finish is hard to beat. Interesting how the rear connectivity is in the arm rest but what does one do when there are three passengers. Kind of odd there. Thanks for showing us.
From cork to cars……thanks for history lesson Joe. I think Nissan may have made a mistake with that 3 cylinder turbo. I’m waiting for Mazda cx-70 hoping with a plug in hybrid for 2023. Joe and Lori ! 👍
Yes imo This is better than the rouge in some ways. Though the rouge is the more “family friendly” one out of the 2 as that is more spacious. However the larger sibling the CX-50 which sells along side of this CX-5 imo is so much better with tech, and space and capability. Luxury seems equal though I lobe the styling more on that. The CX-5 seems like the “sports car” in this segment, thought I would never say that about a compact crossover in terms of handling which is what u would expect from a Mazda. I want something lather so I’ll get the CX-50. But between the 2 the rouge and this CX-5. I’m going CX-5. I btw love the lighting on this as well. Joe, u do amazing explaining the car, Lori, the camera 👸, as always , perfection. U always get the right angles and we subscribers love y’all both for the hard work. Keep up the great content!
Bought this model in Soul Red 2 months ago for my wife. Awesome vehicle and definitely better than the Rogue. It's a poor man's Stelvio. Only gripes are small gas tank and thin paint. Chips easy.
I’ve been in a 6 for the past few years. Very happy with it. Looked at this vehicle yesterday. Interior seems the same as the 6. The six is considered mid size. Why is this compact?
My wife order one, should be a 2023 , around 3 to 4 monts to get it. But we tested one, great SUV, She add à 2015 non turbo, it was okay around town, but on the highway, the engine as no power.
Luv Mazdas! Traded in my 6 for a CX9 & the wife just bought a 3 sedan. How about a review of the CX9 Touring Plus? It’s nicely equipped & the blacked out package looks awesome.
I considered the new Sportage with their Turbo but we were able to get a 22 CX-5 Turbo for MSRap and every Kia dealership wanted $3-5k over sticker for a Sportage. Easy decision. Edit: Wait I meant Sorrento. CX-5 Turbo over Tuscon/Sportage any day.
Mazda all the way….because you will probably be glad you have a 100k warranty with the Korean brands. Lots of crazy problems popping up in both Kia’s and Hyundais. My brother’s ‘16 Kia Soul has been sitting at the dealership waiting on a back ordered engine for 3 months….It puked on him back in April. 47k miles is all it had on it.
Mazdas have good design language on their upcoming vehicles except they need to improve their infotainments coz they are little behind , plus their engines are smooth better than a crap cvt .. great video joe 👍🏻
I luv the car but I don’t get the outdated infotainment system. Such a stylish car but that would be a major zonk for me. The map of Japan! Lol 🤣🤣. Thank u for all the videos. Full of info w/ fun!
When I drove a rental CX 5, I noticed that the sunroof being open created a horrible wind buffering noise when driving around 35 to 40 mph. I had to crack a window to make it stop. I have heard the same thing from other CX 5 owners.
I am still not a fan of the usb ports in the back arm rest. If you have 3 passengers (think grandkids) they can't use them. Yes there are the 2 ports in the front arm rest. Then the wires are going to be hanging out. So why not have the back ports on the back of the arm rest? Just my 2 cents
The mix stitching and that infotainment center or horrendous🤷♀️ This make a rav4 look GREAT The Rogue will have a 360 camera which should be standard in everything
I love my '22 CX-5 Turbo, but I wish the black plastic was just 1 immovable piece instead of being attached to the bottom of the door and the front seats could use a bit more bolstering and side wing bolstering to hold me in place when turning. Be careful when stepping out of your car. I almost broke that black plastic.
My wife's 2012 Mazda5 is approaching 230k miles and still going strong. Only spent $350 in unscheduled repairs during the first 200k.
I haven’t heard of one going that much mileage

15:06 "I remember when I used to teach I had a few jerky's in the classroom" 😂
A Jim Croce reference and a Shasta shout-out, Ratti's Rides is the best!
"Shasta", lol. "A map of Japan", double lol. "A Yeti and a Sasquatch hooking up", triple lol. Always love your reviews, Joe--informative and funny!
Thanks David for letting me share the cars and the laughs with you!
@@RaitisRides Any time, Joe! And give that wife of yours a hug, she does great camera work...
Mazda is killin in Joe!
Got 2-CX30s… hell they’re practically giving these cars away in cereal boxes. Great value.
To the door panels!
I love the refresh, I just they would’ve updated that steering wheel to the new design.
I would have the CX-5 over the Rogue (or as it’ll be called in Europe, the X-Trail).
This is the first car I have purchased that is not a Holden.
I purchased my Mazda cx 5 2022 2 weeks ago. 👍
That's a ton of torque, wow!
Yeah it is! So much fun to drive
Mazda is CRIMINALLY underrated
Hell yeah
Mazda all the way! I got a 2022 CX-5 Premium! Love it!
Gonna wait a couple of years and maybe get a CX-50! By that time the CVT in my Murano will probably be on it's last leg.
Sounds like a plan!
👍
I think you forgot the cargo floor can be lower an inch or so.
My wife order one, should be a 2023 , around 3 to 4 monts to get it. But we tested one, great SUV, She add à 2015 non turbo, it was okay around town, but on the highway, the engine as no power.
It will be worth the wait Ian!
Did y’all get it yet??
This is better looking than Audi Q5. The looks and turbo torque makes this better than toy looking Korean cars
I totally agree with you!
Luv Mazdas! Traded in my 6 for a CX9 & the wife just bought a 3 sedan. How about a review of the CX9 Touring Plus? It’s nicely equipped & the blacked out package looks awesome.
Awesome review!! How tall are you btw?! I'm 6'2 wonder if I'll be comfortable in there .
If it has to be a four banger, this one seems to do the trick.
I LOVE the CX5. It would be a hard decision to pick it between the Tuscan and the Sportage.
@@DM72513 I love the CX-5. But also the new Sportage but only the top trim.
What is up uncle Joe! Florida sun Mazda fun I see.
Always be a fan of this chanel💪💪💪💪💪
Thank you for having my back Samuel!
I’ve always been a fan of the Mazdas.
Mazdas have good design language on their upcoming vehicles except they need to improve their infotainments coz they are little behind , plus their engines are smooth better than a crap cvt .. great video joe 👍🏻
In Australia it’s a $550 after sales upgrade. A
Lot of people got very unhappy about that when it was free in other markets
I don’t even need to watch the video to know a Mazda is better than a Nissan 😂 still great work as always joe!
Sunroof is most useless feature in any car. Keep it closed
Thanks for sharing details from your experience!
That's pretty much any car I've ever owned and who would open the sunroof but keep the windows fully closed?
I have the exact model in soul red!👍🏻
Terrific job in my favorite Mazda SUV Joe.
I never hear any sound of the radios in your reviews. Do you try them out and review them? They all seem to have better sound systems in them.
Turbo systems seem to burn out just north of the warranty. I suspect that a full turbo system rebuild could cost nearly $8000?
Hell no
The mix stitching and that infotainment center or horrendous🤷♀️
This make a rav4 look GREAT
The Rogue will have a 360 camera which should be standard in everything
Can someone explain to me why the cvt gets so much hate in the car community
I want to know too
20:00 you could have really shown us what it was capable of. Missed opportunity Joe.
thank you, buying this week
I'd take the cx-5 over the rogue simply because the Nissan cvt is junk.
Dam ... just gona embarass my rogue like that....what did it do to u?🥲
@@jamaruminotto it’s the truth Nissans Jatco cvt transmissions are garbage
Most Nissans have been garbage especially compared to the rest of the Japanese car companies
I love my '22 CX-5 Turbo, but I wish the black plastic was just 1 immovable piece instead of being attached to the bottom of the door and the front seats could use a bit more bolstering and side wing bolstering to hold me in place when turning. Be careful when stepping out of your car. I almost broke that black plastic.
gorgeous SUV!! so impressive ❤😊love this vehicle can't wait to get one!! It should be the number one SUV!!
