    It is called Masteri An phu, they also have Masteri Thao dien which is down the road and a bit older so it is a bit cheaper.

    Why are tons of Western foods a plus?? In my country i rush over to Viet town and asian foods whenever i get extra time. I have been eating Western food my whole life and its really exciting and delicious to eat Vietnamese food and theres so much of it.

    I'm probably heading to Vietnam at the end of the week, via work and will be looking to find an apartment with gym/pool etc. I like the idea of a swanky expat apartment/flat but I'm more inclined to go down the "locals" route. I guess a lot will boil down to the proximity of the office vs the residential area. Do you pay utilities over and above your rental costs? I had a much smaller apartment than that in Hong Kong, over 20 years ago, which was around US$850 per month and that was half the going rate!

    • @TonyOi
      @TonyOi  2 роки тому +1

      yes you will need to account for electricity (biggest costs outside of rent) but generally anywhere from 500vnd to 1.5 mil vnd

    Tony, can you explain how the rent is so cheap but the price of house/land/condo is so expensive? How they recoup the money? For example, 200K condo would cost 14K interest at 7% but the rent is only $600 a month or $7200 a year, which is half of the money cost.

    • @TonyOi

      I’m not too sure ! I have no idea about the housing market here. Maybe it’s just enough to pay their mortgage? So still kinda worth it if someone is investing in ur investment for u

    • @MalMilligan
      @MalMilligan 2 роки тому +1

      I've been looking at those numbers for 30 years and it's always a bargain renting compared to owning in VN. I wish I knew why. One additional note, VN only has what is known as "leasehold" ownership. The government actually owns all the land and you can "lease" (buy) it for 50 years. Not all property can be purchased by foreigners either.

    • @tyyg9469
      @tyyg9469 2 роки тому

      My only guess would be govt corruption. The difference in price probably goes into the pockets of corrupt communist govt officials in one way or another.

    • @MalMilligan
      @MalMilligan 2 роки тому

      @@tyyg9469 Almost 30 years ago in Hanoi a "mini hotel" I stayed in had 6 rooms that were available at $25 a night each. The building was worth over a million dollars. SO even if they had 100% occupancy every day of the year and zero expenses or property taxes it would take 20 years to equal the purchase price of the property. Where is the government corruption in the equation? A new apartment in a new tower in Saigon that sells for 1 to 1.5 million dollars can be rented out for maybe $2500 a month. With no expenses and no property tax, it would take 33 years to break even on a million dollar purchase price for that property. That's the massive difference between renting and buying and those are literally free market prices.

    • @tyyg9469
      @tyyg9469 2 роки тому

      @@MalMilligan I know nothing about the prop market, but maybe some of the high purchase price goes into the pockets of govt officials. Or maybe they want to keep property in hands of govt, thus deterring private investment purchases. Sort of like how they want to limit number of cars on the road by taxing the hell out of them.

    Okay, for starters, great informative video. However, I really don't see the charm of equating every damn cost to cost of living the fkn US.
    1. Vietnamese people have struggled ENOUGH already than to have this widespread gentrification by westerners simply because they can't afford things back in their "First world" countries.
    2. Why are you video creators CONSTANTLY peddling South East asia as the white man's destination for luxury living? White people just think SE Asia is a party pad and wank fest for them. It takes SO little for them to acquire SO much as compared to South East Asian people in reality. It is so shameful that all that is being marketted by the likes of you is "COME LIVE IN THE LAP OF LUXURY" with your dollars and contribute absolutely NOTHING back to the people of the land. Way to promote modern day colonialism and culture disintegration.

    Its called editing. And you need a LOT of it. This video should have been about a minute long. A quick walkthrough and the price. Instead you WASTE OUR TIME. People like you ruin UA-cam. Because you don't respect time.
