GF lives in Phú Nhuận at the moment. I really like the area. Old style, but so many cafés, restaurants, near the canal for walks and of course near Quận 1.
But it's just a stop gap place. Looking for something more permanent now. $1250 I find expensive, but arguably one can't fault the reasons you gave.
GF wants to buy a house, but a friend (another Sài Gòn YTer) pointed out that build quality/maintenance can be iffy, even in high value places. He pointed out it's better to rent and then change every 5 years or so when the flaws and 'wear and tear' is starting to show‼️

Would you know how to purchase a condo unit that you showed? I'm wondering if I should get one for retirement! 🤔

It's around 150k$ (3.6 billion vnd) for a 2 bedrooms apartment in the same building. The area is 83m2 (around 958 sq ft)

I live in Melbourne, Australia , $1300 usd is about $2000 Australia dollars , this is the average rental of a good house with 3 bedroom or 4 bedrooms . Compare to living standard and wages in VN $1300 / month is very expensive only for the rich peoples can afford.
