Great video, been waiting to see some videos on the F1 Ultra on Tumblers. Question... what was the reason to change from the Fiber to the Diode between the two tumblers?
@@SarahVanderkooy "A series of inputs, it's right there." WOW that was no help whatsoever! "How do I get to Chicago?" There are a series of roads, it's right there!
This rotary attachment comes with 3 bars that can hold small items like a ring. The bars grip the inside of the ring. These would be your best bet for smaller items, but I'm not sure how they would grip a bead, it might be too small.
GREAT video - Thanks! But you never showed us how to set up the rotary tool - which port do we plug it in? What are all the other attachments? I know the title doesn't say complete set up from start to finish, but do you have a video like that? I have no clue and its frustrating to say the least. Thanks.
When you get the accessory it comes with an instruction manual and a link to a set up video. Both are also on their website. It's really easy to follow so I didn't want to replicate that here. It plugs into the accessory port on the side of the machine. There are a bunch of ways to set up the chuck for various sized items, but the process of engraving is similar for each one. I have a full set up video for this accessory and the M1 linked in the description.
The RA2 Pro is the attachment that holds all cylinders, it's pretty versatile using either rollers or a chuck. It will hold a mug with handle or 40oz tumbler, but for the bigger items you will need to remove the handle. I have not done really large items on this machine, but to accommodate them you may have to raise up the rotary attachment so the item will fit in the machine.
Thanks for doing this video, I've been wondering what it would be to do this with my f1 utlra. Question I have is I see some folks saying to not just burn the coating away, but to engrave it with color... have you done much of that yet? i spent the morning trying to learn but there is little on it and most videos i find are using other mopa fiber lasers
I have not tried that yet, but it's on my list of things I need to do. This works best with stainless steel. I would do 2 test grids on a stainless blank, one for each laser. You can achieve neat colors with either one. I have seen tumblers where the diode is used to burn away the coating then a second pass can color the blank space. As soon as I have it figured out I will post a video!
Does the XCS software take in to account the taper on the tumbler when doing a full wrap like one like you showed? How to you ensure centerline alignment without the Plus model of the RA2 Pro?
Great question. This tumbler has a slight taper and it wrapped the image all the way around beautifully. The software doesn't recognize the taper. I used the diameter of the largerest end for reference. However, with something more tapered the delux RA2 Pro version would be a better option. It allows you tilt more and accommodate for the angle.
That was the clearest video I've seen on the rotary tool. Thank you!
Thank you for this information. Ordered my cable today today. You saved me 250.00 thanks!
Woo Hoo!
What if there's a logo you need to align it with? What if there's a handle you need to align it with?

Personal preference. You can get a deeper engrave on bare metal with the fiber vs just etching the surface with the diode. Thanks for watching!
I wish you would have shown the wiring! How is this hooked up to the F1?
The F1 Ultra has a series of inputs on the right-hand side, the rotary plugs right in there. It's really easy.

You simply plug it into the machine. It can't be any more simple. If you can't figure that out then you have no buisness even using the device.

Will this rotary attachment work on small items, like a wooden bead for bracelet?

How long did the full wrap tumber take to engrave?

Where are you measuring the diameter of a tapered tumbler, and does this change depending on placement of the image?
I try to measure in the middle of where I want the image to go.
Great video! I'm confused about one thing, though: when entering the diameter, you had a tapered cup! At which point do you measure the diameter?
My image didn't wrap the entire cup so I measured the diameter where the center of my image was going.
How do you engrave coffee mugs with handles or 40 oz stanley style mugs with handles? Is there an attachment that can be used?

Does the rotary attachment come with the little leveler you used? If not, where would I buy one?
Yes, it's included.
I came here from the glass engraving with f1 ultra, you claimed there were settings in the description there are not.
Thanks for letting me know! I will add them later on today and let you know here.
Power 45 speed 50 with 1 pass worked great for me on glass using tempera paint.
