The craftsmanship of this instrument is superb, and the sound quality is pristine. This is a great addition to any drum set no matter what style you’re playing!
The shake hat is awesome! Very raw and tribal percussion effect; the loose feel (especially with slight reverb) will give great depth layers in a recording or live performances. On stage, the shake hat also is a fantastic visual instrument. Thanks for sharing!
@@WORLDDRUMCLUB that's it, I saw it on line and had to make one... It's rather raspy ish... so it's used sparingly as the little rings attached have a rattlesnake after tone thing...
Nice demonstration, but to be honest: I have the feeling this thing maybe quite loud. Sabar is a loud instrument and the stuff that Ben plays with additional doundoums as bassdrums etc makes his one man tribe probably even louder. So my question is: in all honesty for which musical situations do you estimate is this Shake-Hat a good option? I reckon for example that using this for acoustic singer-songwriter stuff might not be the best idea... Love to hear from U. Blessings.

I’m partial to the bright/wet sound that came across on my speakers. Cool!
Yes!! Great review and playing! I just ordered one from Ben's website. Can't wait to play it!

This is awesome! I'm getting all sorts of ideas. Time to rustle up a coffee can. I love homemade/improvised instruments!
Yes, you can make your own, but his are at a high level and SAFE to handle. Be careful!
Kalani! Happy to see and listen to you playing the Shake Hat 🤘🏾🤘🏾 much love ❤️❤️
The name of this percussion instrument in Brazil is "Xequebalde" (similar percussion instrument).
Nice sound, it reminds me of a fan shaped shaker I had made out of chain links and a coffee can my djembe.
It's a little like Ksnk Ksnk, Yes?

I love the idea! But for my taste I think I would take the seeds off.
