Kiss - Forever
Skid Row - I remember you
Guns N Roses - Don't you Cry
Whitesnake - Now you're gone
Bryan Adams - Everything I do
Skin Yard hahahaha Why not?I saw "Heaven" from Bryan Adams onde this list
Skin Yard Yeah,I know but it says "Power ballads" not Rock or Love Metal songs..
Victor Hugo Amorim it's just don't cry. not don't you cry
It's Don't Cry not Don't You Cry
Meatloaf fucking SUCKS!!!!
Power Ballad. A lost art.
Well said
+capz So true.
+capz This is a extremely sad truth. But then again H.E.A.T. actually has been bringing it back in proper style
James Blunt
There are still several Metal bands that make Power Ballads.
Bon Jovi, firehouse, gun and roses, def leopard, journey, Aerosmith created the one of the greatest power ballad
sometimes she cries- warrant
Whitesnake “here I go again” oh my favorite
An All-Time Favorite of mine!
That's not really a power ballad
Open Arms by Journey should be way higher than an honorable mention!
+karlmalone11 Agree.
+karlmalone11 I thought Faithfully would make it rather than Open Arms...
So should I Don't Want To Miss A Thing.
+karlmalone11 THANK you! Everyone knows Open Arms because it's so powerful. Barely anyone remembers Alone or Heart.
+Sébastien Lacroix Yeah as usual WatchMojo can't do a list right.
Seriously? Top 10 power ballads without Cinderella's Don't Know What You Got Till It's Gone?
I was really surprised that wasn't on here.
This list was lame..
MB Voelker even Cinderella - heartbreak station is epic
It’s no power ballad list without Cinderella
I really like Van Halen can’t forget Nobody’s Fool
Though I'm a big Guns fan, I remember you by Skidrow is my favorite power ballad.
It's really amazing how these really loud rockstars make the most beautiful and touching songs.
bob seger's - we've got tonight is a underrated gem
Amanda McC Seger played in Buffalo, NY in 70s. Bob opened saying ( HELLO BUFFALO ). He ended the show saying KAT MAN DO GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY. Yes that Buffalo called ( SNOW CAPITAL OF USA ). Its True Lake Erie dumps 10-12 feet every winter. We got that name because of 1977 Blizzard we got 16 feet from that Storm. City & Schools closed for 3 weeks. Crazy it snowed everyday in December & January. Not kidding people really were afraid of Buffalo. Us Buffaloians are baffeled why we get the most snow of all other Citys near 5 Great Lakes. ALWAYS WHITE CHRISTMAS IN BUFFALO. Google 77 Blizzard to see how bad it was.
Right there wrong from power ballads
Love song not power ballad
I remember you/Skid Row
When I see you smile/Bad English

Alone Again - Dokken

Buried Alive - Avenged Sevenfold
Tonight You Belong to Me - Paul Stanley
Two Out of Three Ain't Bad - Meatloaf
Survivor - Donny Osmond
Every Time I See You Around - Paul Stanley
@Dafyd Maddz Thanks, but I think Alone Again's pretty good, too.
@Dafyd Maddz I can't argue there, but being a singer myself, I tend to pay more attention to Don Dokken's vocals than anything else. I will say that Walk Away has more emotion in it, though.
How can you have a “best of” power ballad list without Journey?! I personally love November Rain and Home Sweet Home but Open Arms is an obvious choice!
Let's not forget "Faithfully". It was only an honorable mention?!
Definitely! Faithfully as well. Journey set the standard ad well as the formula for album single release. First single a rockin' song with crunching guitars followed by the ballad to appeal to the ladies, then another uptempo song to push to album usually to platinum or double platinum status.
"Faithfully" by Journey, should have been on this list, it is objectively one of the best power ballad songs ever made.
Fun fact: Guns N' Roses and Def Leppard created some of the greatest power ballads of all time.
Firehouse did too
That’s an opinion but true
Motley Crue did it first
Metallica did the best power ballads the first ballads like fade to black and One are great power ballads. I like how thrashy sanitarium and one get towards the end.
@@EmpathyArts23 no white lion
🥰 There is NOTHING like 80s rock ballads...no wonder we don't fall in love in a major way anymore ❣✌🔥
We still fall in love its just to rap music and AR15's
I blame technology for that.
80's rock ballads suck.
My favorites:
"Is this Love"
"Heaven"
"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"
Cinderella - Nobody's fool...
Doar Eu yes, they had great songs, they were such an underrated band
Agreed....very underrated band
Doar Eu I adore that song
Yes
Doar Eu 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️
The 80's was filled with amazing power ballets. Warrant, Cinderella, Firehouse, Damn Yankees, Kiss, White Lion, White Snake, Great White, Dio the list is endless. Music today has no soul, not like the 80's did.
Hell yeah! The 80s was an awe time for sure
Try foy Vance
Every era has 3 types of music, the greats, which stand the test of the time; the average, which are just trendy for 2-3 years but then wane away in popularity and the terrible, which are just popular for all the wrong reasons and the same thing even applies to the 80s. There were songs of all 3 types during this era, but only a few greats came out, and if you were to base this judgement that all the music in the 80s was great just by looking at the 2% of legendary albums that came out during that era, then your being shallow minded in terms of your thinking. There was enough crap that came out during the 80s as well. Don't think I am trying to hate on 80s music, what I am saying is that we can't keep boasting about 80s being the best era because there is nothing called as the best era of music, each era of music follows the same format given above and about today's music as well there are tons of great songs around not only by underground/undiscovered bands but also by mainstream artists. So passing a statement like music today has no soul without any thorough research or analysis of today's music is just wrong
dokken alone again
“Heaven” by Warrant should at least have been mentioned
Sometimes She Cries...my favourite
I love Warrant.
Absolutely
I Saw Red my personal fav ballad by Warrant
"You Don't Know What You Got Till Its Gone" by Cinderella should've been on this list!
So should *Forever*, by KISS.
Totally. It's an amazing power ballad 🙂
+Kalla Lightheart They're both great power ballads too
Highly underrated band. They were a bluesy rock band, not a hair band. I saw them in concert in 2002-ish. Awesome show. Tom Keifer sounded amazing live.
chrisod22 You're talking to Arjun Kaul, right? Not Kalia Lightheart? About the band that Tom Kiefer was in? It doesn't show who your comment is in reply to, and I don't want to make a mistake and say that you got something wrong when you didn't. ;-)
Does anybody else yern for times gone by when listening to these??
I still listen to these! I even play these gems for my baby son
yup
Melissa Evans yea man. Makes me real sad how fast life goes by.
Does anybody not?
Nostalgia
Close my eyes forever Lita Ford and Ozzy and I'll never let you go by Steelheart
FOREIGNER: I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS😢😥😪
They also forgot "I Remember You" (Skid Row)
Cierto!
Frank Vittoe the best possible
skid row
Frank Vittoe Hell Yess!!!
Frank Vittoe yeah skid row wasted time
Def leopard rocks!!! Wow the 80's were Awesome!! Greatest music ever.
You need to see them in concert. Saw them w/ KISS a couple of years ago. Both were unbelievable.
Leppard
+Frank Rizzo Yes, they're massively under-rated, even by long-time rockers. And Joe Elliot is the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. There were a lot of bloody great rock bands around in the UK in the '80s, I was lucky enough to grow up then and I saw a LOT of them live at school. It was something that really made life fun during a pretty shitty part of my life...
I was a teenager in the 80s and liked the music, but loved the music from the 60s and 70s and some from the 90s too. The new millennium killed music.....
jarodg135 They are in the UK and often considered little more than a joke hair metal group...
How is Aerosmith’s Dream On not even an honorable mention-that’s one of the greatest power ballads ever!
exactly
Or angel
Not a ballad. That's why.
cause it sux
@@BeeRz650 YEAH YOUR RIGHT IT SUCKS SO MUCH that Dream On peaked at number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 but hit big in the band's native Boston, where it was the number one single of the year on WBZ-FM, number five for the year on WRKO and number 16 on WMEX (AM).
They left out amanda from Boston, honestly by stryper, always bon Jovi, Beth kiss, cant stop loving you van Halen to say a few
Gabriel Rodriguez face it they left off a lot of power ballads
That's what I said..I just named a few
Boston has a lot of amazing ballads on the third stage album
Skid Row I remember you?
This song not being number 1 is a massive oversight, not being on the list at all though? That's a fuck up beyond words.
Beat power ballad of all time
Great song
I was about to mention this one also good call
Watchmojo...they fuck up everything but I keep coming back to see how they fuck up hahaha
It's a damn sin to not include Journey on this list.
+WiffyLight Open Arms deserved more than an honorable mention.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I absolutely agree.
+ladydontekno and faithfully
ladydontekno Yea! Steve Perry has one amazing voice.
I actually love Alone by Heart. Their actually one of my favorite bands to listen too, you can't argue with the Wilson sisters! I would also want to mention Close My Eyes Forever by Lita Ford, which is also a pretty good power ballad.
Totally agree about Heart!
There needs to be a top 20 list. Too many good songs to fit into just 10!
1. Still loving you
2. I want to know what love is
3. Everything I do
1. DREAM ON
2. November rain
3. Still loving you
Dream On?? thats not a power ballad
In the dream, Believe, If I go away or When the Crowds are gone by savatage outclass them by miles
Dream on indeed. Aerosmith 🎸🎤
@@gibo74 yes it is dumbass.
@@jerryvasquez8757 correct
The Scorpions: Still loving you, Wind of change and send me an angel are my favorites. And i think Still loving you is in the wrong spot. Should be no.1
You should make a top 20 best power ballads of all time.
What a welcome and much needed power trip down power balled lane.
Depression has once again reared it's painful head so am so not feeling too good right now, so thank the gods your WatchMojo music countdowns video listings popped up, and I've come along for the ride. This really IS one of the best UA-cam channels. Big Thanks Mojo x
Honorable mentions are way better than some on the top list.
Yup
Yes fade to black and cemetery gates are better than all the ballads on this list.
Totally agree😞
109% agree
Some of my favorite power ballads are: Something to Believe In by Poison, When the Children Cry by White Lion, Heartbreak Station by Cinderella, More Than Words by Extreme, To Be With You by Mr. Big, Alone Again by Dokken, What Love Can Be by Kingdom Come, and Don't Close Your Eyes by Kix.
+michael hall (Rwanime442) Solid choices, not enough people care for Dokken, Cinderella or Kix.
rockinchimp It's a shame they're not more well known. Cinderella seems to be only known for one song, and people keep calling them one hit wonders. I fucking hate it when people use that label.
michael hall Same here, especially when such a label is applied to a band that had plenty of Top 40 success.
bergcycles1 I like that one, too.
+michael hall (Rwanime442) - Love love love all the ones you mentioned. I actually listened to When the Children Cry the other day and a few other songs by White Lion. I met Don Dokken a few times at a bar in Vegas several yrs ago. He's a really cool guy.
Oh, this should have been a best 1,000 power ballad countdown. 😁
Can't stop Me loving You, She's Gone & I'll Never let you Go by SteelHeart
Skid row - I remeber you and Cinderella - Don´t know what you got (till it´s gone) should be on the list!
YES!!!
Wasted time-Skid Row
I saw red- Warrant
Heartbreak station- Cinderella
Always- Bon Jovi
Forever-Kiss
Patience- GnR
Miss a thing- Aerosmith
Life goes on- Poison
Fly to the angels-Slaughter
I need you now- Alias
Alone- Heart
Open arms- Journey
Love of the lifetime- Firehouse
Now those are some power ballads!!!!
Michelle Cortes no Kix?
oh yeah, that's a great song! It has all the things that make a power ballad....I'll admit perhaps I'm a little bit biased since the songs on my list have sentimental value to me.... thank you for your collaboration!
How could I've forgotten Fly to the Angels!!! Definitely a badass song and true power ballad!
* Every Rose Has Its Thorn … yeah it Does *
Yeah The Animals, House of the Rising 🌞
Definitely!
I believe you Rebecca.
Yes for the number one pick! Alone is my all time favorite power ballad....but you seriously can’t have a Top 10 without including Skid Row’s I’ll Remember You. Next to Hearts Alone, this is a song I can listen to today and the memories it brings are unforgettable!
My list :
1-Guns N' Roses-November Rain
2-Metallica-Fade to black
3-Testament-Return to serenity
4-Bon Jovi-Always
5-Skid Row-i remember you
6-Megadeth-A tout le monde
7-Poison-Every rose has it's thorn
8-Metallica-Nothing else matters
9-Guns N' Roses-Don't cry
10-Aerosmith-I dont wanna miss a thing
Fade to Black, A Tout le Monde and Return to Serenity aren't power ballads.
jawher Djelassi winds of change
Bringin on the heartbreak gotta stay tho
Great list....🤘🤘
jawher Djelassi Great.
Scorpions😍
To me, Scorpions are the best Heavy Metal band and also my favorite band. Still Loving You is just the best piece of art ever created.
No Skid Row, "I Remember You"? C'mon?!!? Seriously??!!
80's, full of great songs.
Why is Love song by Tesla not here??
Matt Brattensborg first thing I said at the end of the video
I would've put November Rain in the top 5 and included Don't Cry in it as well.
Don't cry should have made it into the top 3.
Yes, Don't Cry is an awesome song
+PT111111 and they somehow missed Sweet Child of Mine completely: it wasn't even up to be voted on, but they had Whitney Houston and Miley Cyrus.
Scott Lemiere Whitney and Miley? in Power Ballad category? What the shit?
Go look at the vote list.
Good job Mojo! This list ( and commentary) was spot on for a guy that went to high school in the 80s
my top 10 ballads:
Don't know what you got (till it's gone) - Cinderella
Send me an angel - Scorpions
When the children cry - White Lion
Trial by fire - Journey
Every rose has it's thorn - Poison
Silent lucidity - Queensryche
I believe in you - Twisted Sister
Love hurts - Nazareth
Alone Again - Dokken
Alone - Heart
Queensrÿche - Silent Lucidity
Stefan Taal YES YES FUCK YES!!!!!!
Definitely agree with you!! Sadly, Queensrÿche tends to be a very underrated band.
Obviously not everyone could be on a 10 list, but ya, Queensryche Silent Lucidity should have been there. For the lyrics, the power of the message, but the voice alone...
Exactly what I was thinking as I watched this.
I love that song
Firehouse has some awesome ballads and I cannot believe they were not on here. They are my favorite rock band.
Thank you! Love of a Lifetime is classic. When I Look in Your Eyes is good too.
No More Than Words? Can't Fight This Feeling? I Remember You? Amazing? Patience? Carrie? Youre All I Need?
Nazareth is very Underrated ❤
Journey's "Faithfully" should've been high on this list
It wasn’t even on the list
Agreee
#1 in my useless opinion.
@@charliel3248 exactly and it should have been
Should have been number 1
maybe "black" by pearl jam? that probably would have been a good choice
IKR. That's the best Pearl Jam song
One of my favorite songs ever. I love me some Pearl Jam
+Kenny Powers great song that is Jeremy
+Ryan Nayr that one of the few songs i can shed a tear to.. so yeah fuck yeah
Jo Waschl I don't cry to it it rocks that i bang my head to
The "power ballad" era ended in late 1980. a very few exception in early 1990.... but the top was between 73-88...
This list is missing all the best hair metal... where is Skid Row, Motley Crue, and Warrant?
Motley crue was on the list, lol.
Yeah... but "Home Sweet Home" doesn't count... where was "Without You"?
@@blushingmushroom1949 you've got a point my friend!!
@@blushingmushroom1949 you're all i need is good aswell
This is one of those lists that's going to need "Another Top 10" list down the line. Power ballad lists have to include Cinderella's Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone.
I agree
And sister Christian, and total eclipse of the heart, and possibly nobody's fool, also by Cinderella. And when im with you by Sherrif..yup another list pls
And possibly babe by Styx
And keep on loving you by reo speedwagon
+baronvg I agree!This is a good list,but,we do need another one!
NO TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART BY BONNIE TYLER?!?
HOW COULD YOU?!?
It's about the song man, not really about who sang it
Total Eclipse is definitely a power ballad.
It's also about love between two vampires! Seriously, look it up.
TiaHaruka0 The song would fit here either...
vampires need love to.
Wow how was journey NOT in the top ten when literally every song that they wrote was a power ballad
I do not care, I will forever choose 50s-90s music and style over everything. It kinda sucks that I wasn't born until later 2000's. I'm actually jealous.
It feels so good to see that I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I understand, I was born in 1960 and I loved that I got to experience it then.
Ok, mojo pls... Where is Skid Row - I Remember You or 18 And Life, or Helloween - A Tale That Wasn't Right
Definitely! Those are great songs
I remember you should make that list EVERY time
this made me not wanna watch it seeing ur comment before the video
+JLTS76 Steelheart She's gone, Axel Rudi Pell, Metallica not even a mention. This top is ridiculous.
+JLTS76 there was not even a mention of zakk wylde
The fact that faithfully by journey or keep on loving you by reo speedwagon aren't even mentioned is a tragedy
Even worse, skid row- I remember you ???
That Meatloaf got to steal their spot is even worse!
Cinderella's Don't know what you got till it's gone
@Todd Butler1: totally agree! Or Styx's "Suite Madam Blue"; Molly Hatchett's "Fall of the Peacemakers", etc. To be fair, there were hundreds of them, and this is a top 10 list. They did at least use Faithfully in the opening, but to leave it off the list is WTF, Over??? worthy, lol.
REO Speedwagon and Journey have many ballads
I’m still asking myself how the hell they got that piano on the mountaintop
Helicopter lol 👍🍻🇺🇸
@@walterogb6017 Oh sure spoil it for us with a little logic! Thanks!
Lol my bad lol 👍🍻🇺🇸
This Power Ballads it sure you can rock of the 80's music
No skid row, "I remember you" ??? Sacrilegious!!!
Ozzy Ozbourne and Lita Ford close my eyes forever
My personal favourite power ballad is I'll Be There For You by Bon Jovi
I highly agree with you, I'm very shocked that wasn't on the list
Absolutely!!! What woman wouldn't melt with those lyrics
Luis Jara XD
"Spring" by Rammstein should be in this list, my absolutely favorite rock ballad, super emotional, super sad and super powerful ♥️
Man the 80s and 90s must be awesome time to live in as a 20 year old
I feel you bro
November Rain... #8?!!! You have to be kidding.
Christopher Hughes I’m thinking more like #1??
@@logand4876 what i was thinking!
That Slash solo alone... Just goes to show Mojo knows nothing.
When I clicked on this list I was like “November Rain is gonna be #1 for sure”... and so at 8?!?! Pfft
I just said that!
1A. “Open Arms”
1B. “Keep on Lovin’ You.”
Period.
This!! the 'wagon get no respect
I’m in love with these ballads!!!!!!
Scorpions still loving you is my favourite 🥰
Cheap Trick's "The Flame" never gets any appreciation
Their only #1 hit on the Hot 100
@Dafyd Maddz I'm not a huge fan of Cheap Trick, but that's a great one!
Agreed. A great tune that can be enjoyed again and again.
Too bad!
It was played at our wedding as we were lighting the unity candle. It has a special place in my heart.
Love Song - Tesla? I Remember You - Skid Row? Nothing Else Matters? I could go on and on with masterpieces that aren’t on here
You left out a few great ballads!
Great White House of Broken Love
Ozzy Osborne I’m Coming Home
Rainbow Catch the Rainbow
Journey The Eyes of a Woman
Blue Oyster Cult I Love the Night
“Is This Love” by Whitesnake should’ve been on the actual list. That’s one of my all time favorite songs. And it’s a sin not putting a Journey song on here. I personally think “Faithfully” is their best power ballad.
100% agree.
the flame - cheap trick. best ever
Tyrone Tucker--- The Flame by CT was the first song I thought of when I saw the title.
Kix - Don't Close Your Eyes
Wow .. Amazing music and videos. Great job I really like everything. Keep working in that spirit 😍🎉
where's wind of change?
love bites, heaven, I wanna know what love is, open arms, I dont wanna miss a thing, 18 and life, careless whispers, and africa. best ballads ever imo
good call,i remember you was also up there with 18 and life
+Big SausageTits oh most definitely man, reason to live as well
i agree with you
+Presley Luis Fuck I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing. Dream On is so much fucking better.
+~Steven Tyler is sick to death of your shit. Dream on isn't a ballad
1.November rain
2.don't cry
3.home sweet home
I'll see you in my dreams - Giant
Burning Heart - Vandenberg
Friday night dances at school and these songs. Takes me way back.
Bed Of Roses gave me a new respect and appreciation for rock bands.
My favorite power ballad is Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue
Mine too
November rain should be higher..
Jorge Sequera you went way too far, fuck you
@@jorgesequera150 fuck you
Anyone saying fuck jorge....thank you all #fuckjorgeolstupidass new trend....
So we to ther say it
whitesnake is better Than Geys N Roses
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
No ,fade to black
@@alphadmarak2472 THANK YOU
What? Night Ranger's "Sister Christian" doesn't even get an Honorable Mention?!?
YES...”Sister Christian!” Don’t know why I didn’t think of that since I’m on a Night Ranger kick & played it 15 times the past 3 days. Think Journey receiving only an ‘honorable mention’ & the total exclusion of REO Speedwagon had me in shock so I wasn’t thinking clearly 🤬
It doesn’t get a mention because it stinks and there are well over a 100 power ballads that are better.
Still Loving You ❤❤❤
Amanda Laci Beautiful song.
One power ballad that should have been on this list is "Two out of Three Ain't Bad" by Meatloaf.
Would have preferred that to "I won't do that"
Angel Deville : I totally agree with you on this. I saw Meatloaf in Brisbane and got some great photographs. A great show and a great entertainer.
Angel Deville pretty much any meatloaf ballad would take up a slot on the list
+Angel Deville Someone needs to do a top ten of Meatloaf power ballads, he knocked it out of the park so many times...
gosportjamie Meatloaf didn't have ten ballads to do a top 10, and not a lot of bands have that many ballads, unless they were Chicago or Bread... they had quite a number of them.
the first song any normal person thinks of when they think power ballad is "I remember you" by Skid Row
I was hoping that would be on here too
Soooo beautiful what a waste that we don't have them now.. but how good to hear them again
#1 Lita Ford and Ozzy - Close my Eyes Forever
100% for close my eyes forever
Yeah!
No Queen song makes it into the top ten or honorary mentions?
which one?
Fred Hagemeister yeah agreed, somebody to love deserves to be on this list
Björn Adriaansens really? of all the power ballads ever recorded, somebody to love? come on! We are the champions is more a power ballad than that! And that isn't even a power ballad. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Queen, but power ballads were not their forte.
matkojapan well then... you're quite the poser ain't ya?
Björn Adriaansens poser? whatever you say
Shocked that Steel heart's - I'll never let you go ( angel eyes ) and Skid Row's I remember you are not mentioned. Both songs are #1 power ballads in my opinion.
Seriously? Journey is only an honorable mention? That's just not right.
Totally forgot Keep On Loving You by REO Speedwagon
the most obvious number 1 really
Yeah as well as "Can't fight this feeling"
Take it on the run is way better.
Is "total eclipse of the heart" not a power ballad???
I was thinking that too?
My thoughts exactly
+Wombat Games It is not Rock N Roll though
I really was expecting to see it at number one as well.
+Wombat Games I agree!! That song rocks!! Bonnie Tyler!!!
I'm happy that "Alone" by Heart is in the no.1 spot. This is one of my favorite Power ballad of all time from my favorite Wilson's sisters. And also my other favorite Power ballads like November Rain,Love Hurts,Every rose has its thorn and Bringin on the heartbreak is included in the list. I hope Power ballads like I remember you by Skid Row,Don't know what you've got (til its gone) by Cinderella,Faithfully by Journey,What it takes by Aerosmith,When I look into your eyes by Firehouse and She's gone by Steelheart is also included in this list.

Now I’m so excited to see my Steven made it to this page, he is so amazing n turning 73 March 26 he moves like a 20 year old 💋❤️💋❤️OH BOY 💋
