There were songs of all 3 types during this era, but only a few greats came out, and if you were to base this judgement that all the music in the 80s was great just by looking at the 2% of legendary albums that came out during that era, then your being shallow minded in terms of your thinking. This is an amazing list!!! I don't think you can limit this list to 10 songs and a few honorables. I would have Beth by Kiss, Good by to romance by Ozzy,, Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, and no list is complete without Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin. These are just a few off the top of my head. Good job and thanks for sharing!!!
Highly underrated band. They were a bluesy rock band, not a hair band. I saw them in concert in 2002-ish. Awesome show. Tom Keifer sounded amazing live.
chrisod22 You're talking to Arjun Kaul, right? Not Kalia Lightheart? About the band that Tom Kiefer was in? It doesn't show who your comment is in reply to, and I don't want to make a mistake and say that you got something wrong when you didn't. ;-)
Though I'm a big Guns fan, I remember you by Skidrow is my favorite power ballad. It's really amazing how these really loud rockstars make the most beautiful and touching songs.
X) Don't Stop Believin - Journey 9) Piece of my heart - Janis Joplin 8) Every rose has its thorn - Poison 7) It's All Coming Back to Me Now - Meatloaf 6) I remember you - Skid Row 5) Blaze of glory - Bon Jovi 4) Can't Let You Go - Rainbow 3) Alone - Heart 2) Still loving you - Scorpions 1) November Rain - Guns n Roses Honourable mentions More Than Words Can Say - Alias, Fading like a flower - Roxette, Angel - Aerosmith, Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad - Def Leppard, I love you - Saigon Kick
I think they pegged it right with Alone and #1. No one can deliver a power ballad emotion like Ann Wilson. That song still gives me chills (to the bone) almost 35 years later.
Some of my favorite power ballads are: Something to Believe In by Poison, When the Children Cry by White Lion, Heartbreak Station by Cinderella, More Than Words by Extreme, To Be With You by Mr. Big, Alone Again by Dokken, What Love Can Be by Kingdom Come, and Don't Close Your Eyes by Kix.
rockinchimp It's a shame they're not more well known. Cinderella seems to be only known for one song, and people keep calling them one hit wonders. I fucking hate it when people use that label.
+michael hall (Rwanime442) - Love love love all the ones you mentioned. I actually listened to When the Children Cry the other day and a few other songs by White Lion. I met Don Dokken a few times at a bar in Vegas several yrs ago. He's a really cool guy.
The Scorpions: Still loving you, Wind of change and send me an angel are my favorites. And i think Still loving you is in the wrong spot. Should be no.1 You should make a top 20 best power ballads of all time.
+Frank Rizzo Yes, they're massively under-rated, even by long-time rockers. And Joe Elliot is the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. There were a lot of bloody great rock bands around in the UK in the '80s, I was lucky enough to grow up then and I saw a LOT of them live at school. It was something that really made life fun during a pretty shitty part of my life...
I was a teenager in the 80s and liked the music, but loved the music from the 60s and 70s and some from the 90s too. The new millennium killed music.....

@Todd Butler1: totally agree! Or Styx's "Suite Madam Blue"; Molly Hatchett's "Fall of the Peacemakers", etc. To be fair, there were hundreds of them, and this is a top 10 list. They did at least use Faithfully in the opening, but to leave it off the list is WTF, Over??? worthy, lol.
Obviously not everyone could be on a 10 list, but ya, Queensryche Silent Lucidity should have been there. For the lyrics, the power of the message, but the voice alone...
Journey - Faithfully Journey - When You Love a Woman Journey - Open Arms Journey hell just Journey itself and most of Def Leppard there are so many 80's Hairband Power Ballads that aren't on this list. Lita Ford and Ozzy - If I close my eyes forever Ozzy - Momma I comin Home
I agree with Journey. I think what hurt them in getting voted into this list is that they had too many classic power ballads to choose from, so no single one got voted through.
This is one of those lists that's going to need "Another Top 10" list down the line. Power ballad lists have to include Cinderella's Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone.
And sister Christian, and total eclipse of the heart, and possibly nobody's fool, also by Cinderella. And when im with you by Sherrif..yup another list pls
Amanda McC Seger played in Buffalo, NY in 70s. Bob opened saying ( HELLO BUFFALO ). He ended the show saying KAT MAN DO GOODNIGHT EVERYBODY. Yes that Buffalo called ( SNOW CAPITAL OF USA ). Its True Lake Erie dumps 10-12 feet every winter. We got that name because of 1977 Blizzard we got 16 feet from that Storm. City & Schools closed for 3 weeks. Crazy it snowed everyday in December & January. Not kidding people really were afraid of Buffalo. Us Buffaloians are baffeled why we get the most snow of all other Citys near 5 Great Lakes. ALWAYS WHITE CHRISTMAS IN BUFFALO. Google 77 Blizzard to see how bad it was.
There are many Power Ballads by Bon Jovi, that any of them could be on the list: Living in Sin, Never Say Goodbye, Always, I Want You, Hearts Breaking Even, Lie to Me, I'll be There For You, Bed of Roses, Thank You for Loving Me, This Ain't a Love Song, All About Loving You, Without Love, Stay, In These Arms, etc. Plus the epic 10-minute ballad Dry County.
This ain't a love song, is my favorite bon jovi song. Closely followed by I'll be there for you. One of THE BEST love song lyrics is from I'll be there for you. - I'll be the water when you get thirsty, baby. When you get drunk, I'll be the wine. Amazing. Pure poetry. But, skid row, "I Remember You" has the absolute best love song lyrics ever! They don't even require musical accompaniment. Beautiful poetry, in and of itself.
Bon Jovi make the greatest powerful ballads and here the funny part my number 1 is not from Bon Jovi. it’s Aerosmith’s I don’t wanna miss a thing. But any of Bon Jovi’s ballads could take my second place though if I have to pick just one I’m going with Bed of Roses.
gosportjamie Meatloaf didn't have ten ballads to do a top 10, and not a lot of bands have that many ballads, unless they were Chicago or Bread... they had quite a number of them.
Björn Adriaansens really? of all the power ballads ever recorded, somebody to love? come on! We are the champions is more a power ballad than that! And that isn't even a power ballad. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Queen, but power ballads were not their forte.
1. Don't Know What you got till it's gone- Cinderella 2. It's A Miracle- Crashdiet 3.Fly With the Angels- Slaughter 4. Parachute - Santa Cruz 5. What you'll never find- WASP 6. Invincible - De La Cruz 7. If its Love - Crazy Lixx 8. Edge of our Dreams - Reckless Love 9. Black Anthem - Gemini Five 10. Living on the Run- H.E.A.T.
We have different ideas what a power ballad is. I agree with a few of the songs on the list, but not all. A true power ballad needs heavy guitar, strong drums and a ton of emotion in the vocals. Here's my list from someone who grew up in the power ballad era: #10 - Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) - Cinderella #9 - She's Gone - Steelheart #8 - Without You - Motley Crue #7 - Heaven - Warrant #6 - Love Bites - Def Leppard #5 - Life Goes On - Poison #4 - Alone - Heart #3 - Always - Bon Jovi #2 - Forever - KISS #1 - Angel - Aerosmith
'Almost Paradise' by Mike Reno and Anne Wilson, 'Alone Again' by Dokken and 'Didn't we almost have it all' by Whitney Houston, deserves to be on this list.
@@flameslingeralex3549 I'll Be There For You is Bon Jovi's Greatest Power Ballad..it had it all, that great big arena sound and a chorus that noone could help singing along too :)
I actually love Alone by Heart. Their actually one of my favorite bands to listen too, you can't argue with the Wilson sisters! I would also want to mention Close My Eyes Forever by Lita Ford, which is also a pretty good power ballad.
Come on guys! Kiss- forever Skid row- I remember you Michael Bolton- When a man loves a woman Nirvana- Where did you sleep last night Eric Clapton- Wonderful tonight speedwagon- keep on loving you Europe- Carrie Etc... You’re missing a lot of great ballads

Open Arms by Journey should be way higher than an honorable mention!

How open arms did not make that list is RIDICULOUS!
Journey - Faithfully
Journey - When You Love a Woman
Journey - Open Arms
Journey hell just Journey itself and most of Def Leppard there are so many 80's Hairband Power Ballads that aren't on this list. Lita Ford and Ozzy - If I close my eyes forever
Ozzy - Momma I comin Home
I agree with Journey. I think what hurt them in getting voted into this list is that they had too many classic power ballads to choose from, so no single one got voted through.
November rain- number 8?!? Nope!! They deserve more
Mia Watterson totally agree. They deserve to be on 3rd place, at least
Proxima Odyssey yes
Mia Watterson true
Top 3!
Atleast top5
This is one of those lists that's going to need "Another Top 10" list down the line. Power ballad lists have to include Cinderella's Don't Know What You Got Til It's Gone.
I agree
And sister Christian, and total eclipse of the heart, and possibly nobody's fool, also by Cinderella. And when im with you by Sherrif..yup another list pls
And possibly babe by Styx
And keep on loving you by reo speedwagon
+baronvg I agree!This is a good list,but,we do need another one!
“Heaven” by Warrant should at least have been mentioned
Sometimes She Cries...my favourite
I love Warrant.
Absolutely
I Saw Red my personal fav ballad by Warrant
Ok, mojo pls... Where is Skid Row - I Remember You or 18 And Life, or Helloween - A Tale That Wasn't Right
Definitely! Those are great songs
I remember you should make that list EVERY time
this made me not wanna watch it seeing ur comment before the video
+JLTS76 Steelheart She's gone, Axel Rudi Pell, Metallica not even a mention. This top is ridiculous.
+JLTS76 there was not even a mention of zakk wylde
1A. “Open Arms”
1B. “Keep on Lovin’ You.”
Period.
This!! the 'wagon get no respect
Firehouse has some awesome ballads and I cannot believe they were not on here. They are my favorite rock band.
Thank you! Love of a Lifetime is classic. When I Look in Your Eyes is good too.
bob seger's - we've got tonight is a underrated gem
Right there wrong from power ballads
Love song not power ballad
good song, but it's not a power ballad
I thought Rod Stewart sang :We've got tonight..Did Bob Seager cover it later?
There are many Power Ballads by Bon Jovi, that any of them could be on the list: Living in Sin, Never Say Goodbye, Always, I Want You, Hearts Breaking Even, Lie to Me, I'll be There For You, Bed of Roses, Thank You for Loving Me, This Ain't a Love Song, All About Loving You, Without Love, Stay, In These Arms, etc.
Plus the epic 10-minute ballad Dry County.
JP Wärthon Wu what about “wanted dead or alive “?)
Omg!! Lie to me is one of my favorite all time Bon Jovi song!! He is absolutely amazing when he sings!!!
Yeah. "This Ain't A Love Song" is my favorite Bon Jovi song!!! #2- "I'll Be There For You". #3- "Always".
Cinderella - Nobody's fool...
Doar Eu yes, they had great songs, they were such an underrated band
Agreed....very underrated band
Doar Eu I adore that song
Yes
Doar Eu 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️
Kix - Don't Close Your Eyes
Seriously? Journey is only an honorable mention? That's just not right.
Just a mention, only?
Still Loving You ❤❤❤
Amanda Laci Beautiful song.
Carrie by Europe doesn't even get a mention? C'mon man.... you're not from the 80's.
I agree, beautiful balad.
my favorite song
I would've put November Rain in the top 5 and included Don't Cry in it as well.
Don't cry should have made it into the top 3.
Yes, Don't Cry is an awesome song
+PT111111 and they somehow missed Sweet Child of Mine completely: it wasn't even up to be voted on, but they had Whitney Houston and Miley Cyrus.
Scott Lemiere Whitney and Miley? in Power Ballad category? What the shit?
Go look at the vote list.
"I would do anything for love, but I won't turn you into a vampire. Unless you ask."
maybe "black" by pearl jam? that probably would have been a good choice
IKR. That's the best Pearl Jam song
One of my favorite songs ever. I love me some Pearl Jam
+Kenny Powers great song that is Jeremy
+Ryan Nayr that one of the few songs i can shed a tear to.. so yeah fuck yeah
Jo Waschl I don't cry to it it rocks that i bang my head to
Where's wind of change by Scorpions or I remember you by skid row
Journey , Journey JOURNEY NO ONE BETTER , Steve Perry did the best power ballads of all .
🥰 There is NOTHING like 80s rock ballads...no wonder we don't fall in love in a major way anymore ❣✌🔥
We still fall in love its just to rap music and AR15's
I blame technology for that.
80's rock ballads suck.
They left out amanda from Boston, honestly by stryper, always bon Jovi, Beth kiss, cant stop loving you van Halen to say a few
Gabriel Rodriguez face it they left off a lot of power ballads
That's what I said..I just named a few
Boston has a lot of amazing ballads on the third stage album
One power ballad that should have been on this list is "Two out of Three Ain't Bad" by Meatloaf.
Would have preferred that to "I won't do that"
Angel Deville : I totally agree with you on this. I saw Meatloaf in Brisbane and got some great photographs. A great show and a great entertainer.
Angel Deville pretty much any meatloaf ballad would take up a slot on the list
+Angel Deville Someone needs to do a top ten of Meatloaf power ballads, he knocked it out of the park so many times...
gosportjamie Meatloaf didn't have ten ballads to do a top 10, and not a lot of bands have that many ballads, unless they were Chicago or Bread... they had quite a number of them.
No Queen song makes it into the top ten or honorary mentions?
which one?
Fred Hagemeister yeah agreed, somebody to love deserves to be on this list
Björn Adriaansens really? of all the power ballads ever recorded, somebody to love? come on! We are the champions is more a power ballad than that! And that isn't even a power ballad. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Queen, but power ballads were not their forte.
matkojapan well then... you're quite the poser ain't ya?
Björn Adriaansens poser? whatever you say
“Honestly” by Stryper is a hidden gem!
Heart's "Alone" totally deserves the top spot. Good top-10 Mojo.
Finally, Heart appeared in this top lists!
1. Don't Know What you got till it's gone- Cinderella
2. It's A Miracle- Crashdiet
3.Fly With the Angels- Slaughter
4. Parachute - Santa Cruz
5. What you'll never find- WASP
6. Invincible - De La Cruz
7. If its Love - Crazy Lixx
8. Edge of our Dreams - Reckless Love
9. Black Anthem - Gemini Five
10. Living on the Run- H.E.A.T.
There needs to be a top 20 list. Too many good songs to fit into just 10!
#1 Lita Ford and Ozzy - Close my Eyes Forever
100% for close my eyes forever
Yeah!
What about CARRY EUROPE?
Carrie by europe
*Carrie
We have different ideas what a power ballad is. I agree with a few of the songs on the list, but not all. A true power ballad needs heavy guitar, strong drums and a ton of emotion in the vocals. Here's my list from someone who grew up in the power ballad era:
#10 - Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) - Cinderella
#9 - She's Gone - Steelheart
#8 - Without You - Motley Crue
#7 - Heaven - Warrant
#6 - Love Bites - Def Leppard
#5 - Life Goes On - Poison
#4 - Alone - Heart
#3 - Always - Bon Jovi
#2 - Forever - KISS
#1 - Angel - Aerosmith
Alone again Dokken
@@christopherpatterson7391 Walk Away - Dokken
Still no I remember you?!?
@Thedude 6633 excellent point!!!
Oh, this should have been a best 1,000 power ballad countdown. 😁
Is "total eclipse of the heart" not a power ballad???
I was thinking that too?
My thoughts exactly
+Wombat Games It is not Rock N Roll though
I really was expecting to see it at number one as well.
+Wombat Games I agree!! That song rocks!! Bonnie Tyler!!!
SKID ROW ~ I REMEMBER YOU...
Arcangel Geminiani agreed! should have been there
Arcangel Geminiani Wasted Time
Arcangel Geminiani In A Darkened Room - Skid Row
the flame - cheap trick. best ever
Tyrone Tucker--- The Flame by CT was the first song I thought of when I saw the title.
'Almost Paradise' by Mike Reno and Anne Wilson, 'Alone Again' by Dokken and 'Didn't we almost have it all' by Whitney Houston, deserves to be on this list.
How is Journey only an honorable mention?
Green Hornet I don't know how
That was my guess for #1! And should have been. Faithfully is #1 for me!
yea seriously like wtf!!
🤷🏼♂️
Right?! Wtf!
How did REO Speed Wagon not even get honorable mention? They practically did nothing but ballads!
I think you just answered your own question...
Uh, Ridin' the Storm Out, Golden Country, Back on the Road Again and Roll with the Changes???
@@PopllFixit good one
Dont want to miss a thing a an honorable mention? You gotta be kidding.
Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
No ,fade to black
@@alphadmarak2472 THANK YOU
I miss power ballads from the 80's and 90's
How the actual fuck isn't November Rain #1? The list is called POWER ballads. 3 awesome solos from Slash aren't powerful enough?!
This is about quality not popularity
I agree.
@@TheKestevon November Rain is acknowledged as a quality piece by many. Everybody is allowed there own opinions. Anyway whatever.
Totally forgot Keep On Loving You by REO Speedwagon
the most obvious number 1 really
Yeah as well as "Can't fight this feeling"
Take it on the run is way better.
Close my eyes forever Lita Ford and Ozzy and I'll never let you go by Steelheart
Amazing,
High enough
Wasted time
Dream on Aerosmith
Crying
I'll be there for you
Amanda
Damn yankees is good
Damn, you have shity tast in music.....
If November Rain is NOT number 1, I will unsubsidised. You have been warned WatchMojo !
*unsubscribe
+revmeister007 did you unsubscribe?
No he unsubsidized!!!!! LOL 😂😂😂😂
correct spelling unsubscribed ✔️🤣
Personally, I prefer Always to Bed of Rose's but both are good...
I don't understand how no one talks about wanted dead or alive. I get every single time goosebumps when listening to it.🙂
I agree.
@@flameslingeralex3549 I'll Be There For You is Bon Jovi's Greatest Power Ballad..it had it all, that great big arena sound and a chorus that noone could help singing along too :)
Me too always is a classic
I actually love Alone by Heart. Their actually one of my favorite bands to listen too, you can't argue with the Wilson sisters! I would also want to mention Close My Eyes Forever by Lita Ford, which is also a pretty good power ballad.
Totally agree about Heart!
Come on guys!
Kiss- forever
Skid row- I remember you
Michael Bolton- When a man loves a woman
Nirvana- Where did you sleep last night
Eric Clapton- Wonderful tonight
speedwagon- keep on loving you
Europe- Carrie
Etc... You’re missing a lot of great ballads
agreed
Where was "always" by bon jovi.... It has to be in this list
Y. S. And bed of roses!!
"Always", exactly what I expected to be top 3
OMG. So true. That was mine and my first love's song when i was 16. Memories...
@@adaeze4873 "Bed of Roses" made the list. Watch again...
Bon Jovi is great at those...bj forever
Love Bites by Def Leopard
Every Rose Has It’s Thorn by Poison
Love Hurts by Nazareth
November Rain by Guns n Roses 🥀
Nothing Else Matters by Metallica
Hole in my soul by Aerosmith
I Remember You by Skid Row
Heaven by Warrant
Alone by Heart
This list is missing all the best hair metal... where is Skid Row, Motley Crue, and Warrant?
Motley crue was on the list, lol.
Yeah... but "Home Sweet Home" doesn't count... where was "Without You"?
@@blushingmushroom1949 you've got a point my friend!!
