Character animations look so much better in this than in retail. They're not any different, but it looks like they're actually using the 1.0 wind-down animations for when you stop running. Also, the legs seem to animate independently of the torso, so no awkward sliding around while casting like in retail.
Yep, the mobile version has inverse kinematics, or IK, which most modern third person games, as well as XIV 1.0 had. So the leg and feet bones actually react realistically to the terrain your character walks over. Supposedly they removed it when going to 2.0 because of server processing/latency issues. It's a small thing, but in 2024/2025 almost, I'd really think it would be a simple enough thing to at least give back as a client side thing for just our character. It makes movement so much more natural looking.
@@OrionXIXI It's not even a modern thing, The Legend of Zelda has had it since it's first 3D game with Ocarina of Time.
@@QuintemTA It's not technically a modern thing no, and even games before OoT had it as well, but it didn't start to become more widespread until the 360/PS3 generation, and they've gotten far more convincing since OoT of course.
I'm still surprised Dawntrail hasn't added IK to the legs, I mean isn't it about time when they're redefining the graphics? xD
I want this so badly. I'm so excited to play what boils down to FFXIV Classic (with revamped combat). The UI looks so pretty. Man I'm ready.
I'm hyped to! Fingers crossed its as good as it looks and the monetization pans out to be something reasonable.
I can't wait to do aurum vale on mobile.
I love how the mobile version becoming the reverse of "You think you do, but you don't"
You think you don't but you do
100% playing. This will definitely become one of the biggest mobile mmo to come.
i wonder how they'll handle duty roulette main scenario here. praetorium seems like the duty that would tempt you to putt your phone on sleep mode for a bit lmao
Watch it have revoiced scenes and have a scene skip option. 😑
They probably won't have Main Scenario Roulette since it looks like all the first time bonuses are tomestones so chances are the tomestones will be more spread out.
@@katherinemerkel3505 They're not revoicing anything, the original trailer already has lines from the old Minfilia voice actor (it is not the new one as some think).
@@LZ02-OVERTUREshe sounded different not the same.
Lmao so true
The bee was the level 25 quest. I think that they are fusing quests together to put them all into three quests: Level 5, Level 10 and Level 15.
My only (so far) but biggest disappointment with the mobile version is that they didn't take this opportunity to retell the 1.0 storyline and instead are just rebooting it from the existing reboot point.
Like, you had one job guys. You already did a fantastic job putting the game together from all appearances. But WHY wouldn't you reach for the low hanging fruit? I'm positive that if the 1.0 storyline was in the mobile version it would draw in a huge crowd of PC and console players who just want to finally get a chance to experience that. Massive missed opportunity.
The Chinese text "讨伐 讨灭战" was directly taken from the Japanese ”討伐 討滅戦", which they can do a lot easilier due to the shared root of their writing systems. On the other hand, the English terms were localized, where a lot of creative liberty was taken, so in many cases, Google lens is not able to help you.
Most content titles do not translate and aren't even remotely similar thanks to Koji. As well as things like names for mechanic. So it's been a trip communicating with people through the language barrier.
Now that you mention it, I do hope they take translation and localization very seriously cause some games just don't even bother.
Any mention of this having gamepad support?
No mentions. Most likely there is no gamepad support since the emulator can't detect it, and there is no option in the game settings.
"You don't want to use Fire 2, save it for Trash"
Yeah that's Black Mage. Flare away!
I was excited for this because I thought I’d be able to use my warrior of light :(
Whoa, the characters are moving with proper animations at the same time they're doing their attacks instead of sliding everywhere
Wouldn't listening to the footage you have offer a bit of insight since I'd assume Arthars can translate at least some stuff on the go? Seems like a lot of guessing over a muted video which isn't ideal. Unless he streamed entirely in CN. Ultimately doesn't matter much I suppose...
Still, the game's looking pretty "modern" for XIV standards and spaghetti code aside I can't help but wonder if YoshiP and team can take some of these ideas to the main game.
Getting accustomed to the tomes system early, actual iLvl requirements with caps right away to prevent underleveled sprouts, more flexible queueing, etc. -- it all seems easy enough to implement to make the early game experience so much smoother! Of course there's the argument of taking dev time out of new/current content to "just" improve outdated stuff for the main game, but still...
to be fair arthars' voice is really bloody annoying.
The "guessing" part is why these videos are getting a thumbs down from me. Mrhappy is always informative and insightful, and I've never felt like any of his videos were a waste of my time - until now. Much as I'm excited for XIV Mobile coverage, this is not coverage.
Haps can't read Mandarin? Neither can I. That's why I was hoping he'd put some effort into getting concrete info before reporting on it. Arthars already explains a lot of this in English in his original footage, so not only is Happy adding nothing to the videos, but he's actually taking away from them by not listening to them. Why? What's the rush to get this content out the door? Am I wrong for expecting better than this?
How long do you think the beta test will last?
if it follow same pattern as original FFXIV a realm reborn beta in the past... 2 months... probably end at Lunar new year.
@@phoenixwulf6010 Yeah that makes sense. With plenty of travel going on during Lunar New Year, they'd probably not try to continue to hold people around for the game or realize that most would be busy.
I thought 10 days.
@@Azem4144 well I only mention about if it is as long as the original Realm reborn. it can be different. But they sure no way would keep CBT until Lunar new year as well.
@@phoenixwulf6010 I heard Arthars said 10 days in his day 1 VoD unless I misheard it.
I think one of the bigger questions about future content is: when it comes to dungeons that haven’t gotten reworks yet bit will get reworked, is there now a chance Mobile will get those newer versions before the pc version? It would be silly if we got a revised optional dungeon second, but if they get to that dungeon’s release first, would they really have the old version, we get the revision, and then Mobile is now weirdly out of sync with dungeon mechanics tha would normalt align bc it already got its release before we got our revision?
24:25 eyo
Duty Support for the first dungeon has different NPC
When is the release date so far?
Still disappointed that we're getting this instead of FFXI
I'd wager FFXI mobile being canceled has less to do with this, and more to do with Nexon being Nexon...
We already had FFXI mobile.
@patheticbadger3478 That and if there were to be an FFXI mobile, it would probably be Japan only due to their phones being way more powerful then ours back then.
all the people who said this are those people who don't want to play ffxiv all over again, in other words, the pc version players which is clearly not the target audience for this mobile version
And it's free 🤣
weirdly enough I want to play this on pc
Love that we got a full graphics overhaul and, in 2025, the mobile version looks noticeably better.
I think its devd by a different team that isnt lazy so makes sense.
why does this UI look better than the real game
Look like a generic mobile style Genshin inspired UI
Literally doesn’t, but pop off.
Animation also looks better, of course using different engine to make mobile version
@@LZ02-OVERTURE which is objectively and undoubtedly better than the crap we have in retail
0:33
4 links and none of them are the actual footage
Hey! they found a way to monetize the old PS3 assets
that gameplay looks just as mind numbing as vanilla duty finder lmao
Does anyone know if the story is co op?
If there isn’t an auto function I don’t think my phone can handle this 😭
Im surprised how much it just looks like ff14 iv always wanted a mobile version i have poor eyesight so playing on my tv gets hard sometimes
Habitual = Daily?
Im curious but.. who is Tod? at 4:48? Im legit curious xD
Probably Llamatodd popping in his chat or maybe he raided Happy
It was Twitch popup saying Llamatodd, another XIV streamer, had gone live.
i bet this game was going to be the FFXI remake but it got stripped and use for FFXIV.
will it be supporting 60fps or 120 .?
I hope it's 120
What are the spec requirements?
IPhone 12 max and samsung galaxy 22 ultra are minimum
@@Frankthetank302 um no lol. my 5 years old Sony Xperia can run it better.
Please tell me no savage
Will there b pvp?
many salty comments here 😂
yes... some say will fail- but I know there are loads of people who wanted to play FFXIV but discouraged by the price...
specially SEA people.. only middle class worker can afford sub+ expansion in this region! I can't play with my friends at all here... all of them- if not most play F2P gacha + p2w MMO for the mmo enthusiasm which is sad.... many already tired of gaming because of it too in recent years.
This might rejuvenate people and get back into gaming again. some friends who quit gaming altogether already confirmed they will try for sure.
Lmao yeah dude salty people get jealous and don't want admitting if mobile games is getting better
I'm in for sure im in 👌I'm fan of FF games 😂
@@finnlauzer7416 nah most still trash. But this one... It is a great fresh air where I don't have to worry about paid gacha being mandatory features to do, while they I already know have loads of fun features in. Which made me want to play.....
@@finnlauzer7416 for sure 😂😂❤❤❤
i think they are trying to do this. see the game on phone, give it a try, get interested in the game and story, heard that you can play it for free on PC from base to stormblood, download the game, get even more interested in it, then buy the game and expansion and now become a subscriber
The mobile market is massive and way more popular worldwide than PC, principally in Asia. This is being made as a way to make way more money than with the limited PC market.
As a serial gacha gamer (much to my misfortune) i know it's FFXIV mobile... But why does it have to be so painfully mobile?
The menus are far to familiar to me xD
Because its chinese
I think you answered your own question.
Painfully mobile or not, the UI is designed for mobile in mind. If it didn't, then it would be a counter-intuitive for its intended purpose.
Because that what effective for mobile user. Its not that deep.
Yeah it seems like BDM menu interface??
So this is what FFXIV is dying for.
I see we're hitting maximum delusional now.
Its joever you should quit now.
So instead of making something a little different that explores some alternative lore they make a 1/1 copy of the main game as far as locations are concerned like sastasha could have had different routes or something i just don't get it, everyones just gonna play on a pc emulator anyway because these controls will make anything over normal content unbearable at which point just play retail...
Because this is meant for people who haven't played the game since mobile markets are really big in Asia. It's not meant for people who have already played it so theyre delivering the original vision. You underestimate how big mobile gaming is in China.
y'all are not the target audience, cant even understand this :/
I find it funny people are excited for ARR on mobile but whenever you get ARR content in duty finder in game right now people are like "ugh why this of all things" lol
I understand if you have never played ffxiv it will be fine, but I wonder how many people that already play ffxiv will jump into it. I'm not paying a 2nd sub to play old content on my phone
you really gotta ask the question with obvious answer, huh
I play it to introduce my friends to FFXIV..... together. There are surely those that are the same- introducing it to friend and families.
For me so they might quit all bad games that compell the players to go online everyday.. since whatever FFXIV mobile gives including duty support is so great... for players who doesn't have much time to play ro those who want to quickly finish content without waiting time.
@@phoenixwulf6010 That's why we have the ffxiv free trial tho... I wouldn't make my friends pay for the mobile version just to introduce it to them.
@@phoenixwulf6010 That's why we have the free trial tho... I wouldn't ask my friends to pay for the mobile version just to introduce it to them
@@Ryūdōji-Reizō I guess I do lol I'm not hating on the mobile version its not for me I know that.
Just wondering how many players are going to sign up and pay for 2 subs at the same time
Dawntrail died for this
Everybody should just go back to ff11 it's more respectable towards your grinds anyway
Just doesn't look fun. I hate movement like this on phones. I would have much preferred turn based
The market is not for you then
@finnlauzer7416 that appears to be the case. I was hoping 14 would change my opinion of things but touch based movement is just garbage. I don't understand how anyone prefers it over a control or kbm
tbh i feel like it is sad that the content is the same than the PC version. Looks like we just gonna get the same game but with gameplay and graphic restrictions instead of having a game that could give a new ff14 experience
I mean the point is to give the ffxiv experience to more mobile markets
its not even a classic 2.x. its like 2.x but with modern abilities, qol, and modern design.
That is what a port is yes.
that is the point, yes
@@Thederpyguide Yeah but you can give the experience on ff14 by making gameplay close to the original and making new dungeon in the theme of FF14, that way you give the FF14 experience to Mobile player AND a new FF14 experience to the PC player.
Basically here the people that already play the PC version wont have any new content on the mobile version
This is where ffxiv profit is going? =/
Coming from. This shit will print moneyp
Nah its going to whatever dogshit game Square is making next, like Forspoken and Babilon Fall
Thought that at first, but tencent paid SE for the license to make it. SE is using that money for God knows what.
I'm just sad cause FFXIV had a steady increase of players along the years(implies more money)over the expansions(at least ultil DT) but the amount of content is always going down. Also longer patches, and of course they deserve a break but hiring people if the profits allows is a option too.
On the topic: If they got paid for the license then it's okay, they would be dumb not to accept it since mobile is the most profitable platform iirc.
I just hope they do something about FFXIV base content for each expansions and patches.
all these salt comments lmao
so far it looks like any other trashy mobile mmo
It looks just like FFXIV though so..
Literally looks exactly like 14.
Idk what ff14 u guys play that it looks so horrible lmao
@@YuumiAhri Im concerned about what game you've been playing if you dont think this looks like 14.
lil bro comparing this game to korean mobile mmo and think we wouldn't notice
