i'm torn between this and the Mythic G, which you obviously love. It's not the price that's making me hesitant on the G, it's the durability. I plan to use this for skiing and ski touring, as an insulation layer when it gets cold (Utah based). Since you have experience with both jackets, I'm curious how your G is doing in the durability department, and if you have any further thoughts about how to choose between the two. Thanks so much! Hi, so both jackets are designed more for lightweight packability, rather than durability. The G is a 7D fabric, super light, but the mythic is only 10D. Not a big difference. The G is definetly warmer, that is a bigger difference between the two in my opinion. I would say that the Microlight infinity down jacket is close in warmth to the mythic alpine, but it has a tougher Goretex infinium face fabric. Might be something to consider. I do love the G, and Rab does list it as a jacket for skiing, but it is a more delicate fabric. Under a good shell, is think all options would be ok.
They are close in warmth. Overall, the main difference is that the Electron Pro will be a heavier jacket in weight. A bit more "bulky". The Mythic is designed for lightweight packability. The electron has 800 Fill power down as opposed to the Mythic with 900FP, but the Electron has more fill in it. The electron will be in my opinion a more versatile, general use jacket, and may edge out the Mythic in warmth a bit due to it's heavier face fabric, and "bulk".
