    Update 5/2014 - after 5 Years I finally got tech data from a bigger heli: LAMA Sa 315B with 3,4m goo.gl/vr9we7
    On the other hand it only has 5cm more main rotor - but 10kg less the weight...
    Maybe we can do a video with both on the same airfield and let the camera decide which one is bigger?

    This is NOT my heli - it's from a friend - Josef Schmirl. We had him as a guest flyer on our local field. It's the worlds biggest RC HELI. Feel free to discus this but please only if you have tech specs of bigger or similar sized helis! I don't count commercial or military drones!

    Amazing what you hobbyists get your hands on these days. I machine rotorhead components for real helicopters and I couldn't imagine shrinking all those complex parts into something this size. Thanks for sharing.

    That looks and flies just like the real thing. The way it vibrates as the main rotor spools up is just like the real thing. Awesome. I have a lot of experience with the AH-1S - the model is of the fully modernized version.

    I find it stunning how many people talk shit about people's video's like Russ prince on here. I seen his whole 4 video's, 3 of which are simulation's on how he teaches you to fly, then his other video show's him flying upside down in place with a hobby store heli with an electric motor but yet he gives this guy's flying skill's chit when this chopper is 4 time's the size and is turbine powered. I'am sure this chopper does not handle in anyway like his small electric chopper. This is based off an attack chopper which is NOT designed to do fancy trick's!!!!!!!! He know's how to fly but knows nothing of capability of design. I dont mean to troll but this heli's builder deserves better respect than that.

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  9 років тому

      thanks for that - plus this pilot really knows how to handle a 3d heli and go "lawn mowing" with it. Just this here is a different league. You fly it gentle and scale and main thing with such a bird is the sound and smell - the presence it has...
      greets, RCSchim

      yeah everyday we face the same danger in kitchen/car/walking/cycling/riding/working in office+high rise building/sleeping but least thought given due to getting used to it instead we(including me😜 ) choose to put more concerns on rare happenings. Not to be biased (i did mentioned including me) so no heart feeling.

    Ive seen a larger one, the Yamaha RMAX, chopper., its a 250cc 2 stroke engine though, with 30kg payload weight! (if only i was still 6 yrs old, joy ride!)
    What sort of lift capacity does this unit have? Turbine driven this thing should have some serious power!

    • @Rcschim
      @Rcschim  10 років тому +1

      have you checked the specs of the rmax? last time I did they were about the same rotor diameter than the redbull cobra here...
      don't know the exact payload. his newer version of the cobra has 37kg takeoff weight and 11kw power. I suppose it would be possible to lift 20-30kg maybe? (it should be able - because with 37kg of weight and if you want to "catch" the copter from a decent, you gotta have enough power (which it has!)

    Now I'm an old auto mechanic, I see the blades being bolted on, so when you stand in front of the heli as it spins up to flying speed, you risk death if a prop blade was to ever break free? I cant imagine you would live if hit in the throat or head/heart, So my question is are you trusting your life to that "bolt & prop end" metal fatigue has ruined many peoples day.

      It's not fake. No large helicopter has main rotor blades rotating at that velocity. It is a large model. The larger they are the more stable and realistic the fly.

      Chemtrails are bullshit.
      It is called Contrail.
      From "Condensation".

    • @cdizle123batchslapinhoecrackin
      @cdizle123batchslapinhoecrackin 10 років тому +1

      there's a difference contrails go away within a short period of time. Chemtrail stay and widen with time into what looks like haze in my opinion but we know what are opinions are like don't we?

    • @taxiuniversum
      @taxiuniversum 10 років тому +6

      Colin Wishard Chemtrails are in my eyes about as stupid as the believe back then, that the world would end in 2000 (or 2012). America gives a shit about clime change - do you think they (and if not they, who else) would spend one single cent on chemicals getting sprayed into the atmosphere? Not to talk of the giant effort to keep this secret? And by the way, airplane fuel could get checked by journalists at any time. In other words: BULLSHIT!
      The time it takes for contrails to dissolve is merely a matter of the current conditions up in the atmosphere: How much wind is going? What air pressure? Temperature etc. There are days, where every single contrail gets preserved for hours, on other days they dissolve within minutes. There are various conspiracy theories that make very much sense - but "chemtrails" is not one of them. To me, the whole talk of chemtrails is utter insanity.

    I have a great idea... 2 REMOTE CONTROLS!!! 1 for the pilot, one for the gunner of the 2 machine guns this builder should add on the bird. Then we let Russ Prince fly it with one remote and the builder holds his finger right above the red button on the gunner remote. At the exact moment when Russ "points the nose in to himself", the gunner lowers his finger on to the red button, we have one less bragging egotistical idiot and just about everyone on this post starts the rest of their day with a smile. You all have a wonderful day now!
