I adore this scene. I think it may be the most flawlessly constructed scene in comedy history. If you doubt me, watch this film again and imagine it without this scene. Immediately Derek and his family don't work. You just wonder why everyone hates everyone else so much. In ten seconds, this scene accomplishes years of character development without explicitly spelling out any of it. It SHOWS you how big a douche bag he is without explicitly saying anything about him. It's genius. 😂
