Something I love so much are the recurring motifs throughout the EP. “Too close too late” appears in Jaded, Too Close/Too Late and even Ultraviolet. There are references to a “Crimson key” and “velvet sky” throughout many songs. A “conduit” is referenced in both Cellar Door and here. The lyrics “I know where I want to go” in Jaded, Angel Eyes and Too Close/Too Late get changed to “You know where you want to go” In Ultraviolet. Cellar Door, the first track, talks about “closing the loophole” while the video for UltraViolet, the last track, is literally a loop. You can also hear the same guitar work in he bridge of the Void at the end of Ultraviolet, and more. It’s super cool how much work was put into making the EP so self-referential. Another reason to love Spiritbox.
A HUGE thank you to Rise Records for exposing me to so many different bands. At 47 I am amazed how much awesome music is out there not getting radio air time.
I felt like nothing could top Circle With Me, but this song is absolute perfection. The melody and ensemble of the chorus is 100% satisfactory and I love the simplicity of the bridge. Nothing fancy, just jamming with beautiful chords. This is stupid good song writing.
Every aspect of this song is perfection. The entire EP is incredible. 53 years into this life and I continue to hear music evolve and stir every single emotion I am capable of feeling.
The story telling is amazing. Almost like going through a trauma and ending in a resolution. “I know where I wanna go, but it’s too close, and it’s too late this time.” Ultraviolet: “You know where you wanna go. Never too close. Never too late. There’s always time.”

Got bored with metal 20 years ago. Came back to find this new wave of bands carrying the torch and proving something that Dio and Black Sabbath always knew: The heaviest riffs work better with melodic vocals
I typically don't like the whole clean vocal with heavy riffs. It often is only done by European bands like Nightwish and awful, dreadful, terrible... well they're European so they don't know any better. Bottom line is, that usually is what ruins it. This. This doesn't let us down. But it's not European. So that's probably a huge reason why. Sabbath I never cared for, always thought their recordings sounded dreadful (even remastered) and honestly.... Twist 'n Shout by The Beatles "sounded" harder than anything sabbath ever recorded. I dont know why. But I do miss Randy Rhodes sound. Dio....man, if you like it, respect to you. But I'm also going to pass. I just decided to leave the classics in the past and look at them as rock, not as metal. They rocked so metal could run. 👍
