Rent free living in your head

I felt it when they said
'We only ever love you when you're seeing red'
    "Seeing red"
You oughta know that I'm like a broken machine
I'm not as bulletproof as you all paint me to be
    Time hasn’t frozen
Why do you want me to scream?
Are you a junkie punk medicating for free?
    We’re all you need
    We’ll make you royalty
We’ll be the best of enemies
    Read me all my rights
I’ll never grow tired of your great advice
    Won't somebody tell me
    What I believe
    I'm sorry for your sacrifice
I guess I must’ve sounded like the anti christ
    Won’t somebody tell me
    Won't somebody tell me
    What I believe?
    No debts
    All love
    I dont give a fuck
    My head
    My heart
    Wouldn't be enough
    I won’t think twice
    I'm afraid
    I'm the priest
    You're the poltergeist
    We’re like one big family
Gee thanks so much for the death threat
    Do you hear the audacity?
You dummies only live on the internet
    We’re all (oh yeah?)
    you need (that's right)
We’ll make you royalty (gimme that gold)
We’ll be the best of enemies
    Read me all my rights
I’ll never grow tired of your great advice
    Won't somebody tell me
    What I believe
    I'm sorry for your sacrifice
I guess I must’ve sounded like the anti christ
    Won’t somebody tell me
    Won't somebody tell me
    What I believe?
    “Are you happy now?”
Rent free living in your head
    'RIP' they commented
I felt it when they said
'We only ever love you when you're seeing red'
    Heaven burning bright
You’ve really gotta wonder how I sleep at night
    Won’t somebody tell me
    Won’t somebody tell me

They've given 2 10/10 albums in the past 2 years, they have more than enough music to tour all year with, the next possible project will more than likely be an tour EP like what most bands are doind nowadays. By contrast, “For Those That Wish,” I think had some of their best lyrical themes ever along with, “All Our Gods,” &, “Holy Hell,” but I didn’t enjoy, “For Those That Wish,” aside from, “Animals,” and, “Dying Is Absolutely Safe.”
Also, their album cover for, “For Those That Wish,” is probably one of the SICest album covers I’ve ever seen.

Definitely a satirical response summarised by “are you happy now?” Architects don’t come across as a band that would alienate their fan base however, we all know the internet harbours some of the worst aspects of human social skills and total disregard for basic courtesy. Hence, “rip they commented” and “won’t somebody tell me what i believe”. This is not a middle finger to the fan base, just a very intelligent use of dissenting views stemming online around their more recent releases. @@grendels-mother I think it could be argued that people just didn't like the previous album because it just wasn't great or very unique, not because it was lacking in heaviness or screams. I started listening to Architects with FTTWTE, and I loved everything on that album (Black Lungs was slightly meh, but it was still decent).
Unlike most other Architects fans I'm not attached to the old albums and I don't really like them, but man the previous album just didn't hit it for me. It has moments of greatness, but most of the tracks just feel like they go nowhere or just have something missing, so it's not like the album is bad, it just isn't good. Also Sam's voice just starts sounding a little grating, because most of the time is spent singing in the same style, I really wish he would have tried mixing some of his softer singing style.
And honestly, after a second listen, this track isn't hitting it either. Maybe it's just that I like the grandiose sound of FTTWTE.

@@phlumt The solution isn't to reduce the heaviness. The solution to a stagnant heavy sound isn't to remove the heavy, it's to try and push for new ideas in the heavy. New Architects isn't less stagnant than old Architects, it's just the same stagnation with more clean vocals. More clean vocals doesn't equal more creativity, it doesn't mean anything other than... more clean vocals.
And here's the thing, I'm not even against a band going lighter. FFS, I like amo. I think amo is a great album, and it's lighter than anything Architects ever did. But amo was legitimately experimental, and creative, and varied. Recent Architects is homogenous, samey, and bland. If my only two choices are slightly bland heavy and slightly bland light, I'll choose slightly bland heavy even though I'd much rather have something heavy or light that wasn't bland at all.

You guys have been my favorite band from the day I found you guys. The way you guys always feel so real and your ability to evolve as a band and release the music you want regardless of "genre" or what the "fans" will think is really inspiring. The Abbey Road album you guys did has literally opened so many doors musically for me and made me explore so many avenues and sounds I never would have without you guys, and I will be eternally grateful to you all for expanding my music tastes. It probably gets exhausting the way some people talk and act about you guys and honestly fuck those people, they don't deserve your hard work and authenticity and they can listen to the same r/metalcore slop with their 5 bands all copying eachother. Those people may be the loudest but never forget there is a large group of us that love you guys for you and your authenticity, and we are all excited to see your continued growth and how you will continue to evolve! Love you guys

This a fantastic song for all of the people who clowned on them for going softer or more experimental. Their last 2 albums actually ended up being some of the most refreshing stuff to hear in the scene, and while this slaps, I can't help but feel bad for Sam and the rest of the band for all of the garbage comments they had to sift through for trying to experiment a bit and change things up.

Eh in my opinion FTTWTE was a refreshing departure that still mostly worked (even if a step down from the previous albums). TCSOABS felt like a B-sides to FTTWTE, not enough variation, not enough bangers, and cheesy lyrics. That’s not to defend any scumbags that send personal attacks, but it’s important to note that most fans that are disappointed surely express it respectfully. You also have to have thick skin when you are a band or celebrity.

I get you need thick skin, but theres a limit. No one deserves that kind of shit thrown in their face its disgusting. Besides this song isnt a call out on most fans. @@nikkehtine Eh it kinda does. Not because "hurr durr not heavy enough". I mean, I like amo. Clearly that's not my issue. But because it all sounds the same. Aside from "Meteor", which is a legitimately awesome song, and "Discourse is Dead", which I only know because it rips off a Like Moths To Flames chorus almost verbatim, I cannot tell any songs on the last main Architects albums apart from each other. They all blend together. There's very little variety or memorability to their recent songs.
It's not overtly "bad". But when every song sounds the same, it feels worse than it might actually be. Credit to an album as poppy as amo, that album brims with variety. From the trance beats of nihilist blues to the nu metal of wonderful life to the r&b elements of mother tongue. It's light, but it's varied and creative. Modern Architects has just been the same few song ideas done over and over and over and over again.

The "guitar scratches" thing is called a pick scrape. They're pretty common now and a lot of bands use them, but it wasn't always like that, especially not in metalcore. Gojira popularized the use of pick scrapes. So much so that you'll hear a lot of people refer to them as "Gojira scrapes" Not being condescending, just attempting to be informative.
