Miss Amy, I grew up in Alexandria, and just found your channel. I love hearing you talk! It reminds me of my best friend 's Mom, who grew up on a tree farm north of Pineville. I used to get down south of the Arkansas line and do my grocery shopping, but I'm not up to it anymore. But the Lord sent us a Brookshire's, where I can usually find the good stuff I grew up with... like Steen's syrup. I'm marking this as a favorite and subscribing. After I get a little bit more sleep I'll work on that cake. It will be just right for Easter. And I wish a very blessed one to you and Mr. John, and your delightful neighbors.😊
I'm so glad I found your channel. It was meant to be my best best girlfriend 43 years is in the hospital with covid pneumonia sad day but God is able to touch her. Chicken legs and mashed potatoes with gravy and veggies it will be along with the apple dumplings. We Love you so m uch. Thank You for getting us back to the basics and loves of life. Your sister in Christ, Cindy form Mustang, Oklahoma.
Oh Amy. You just mentioned Abbeville. A number of years ago my husband and I were traveling in our motorhome from Georgia to Texas and stayed at Miss Betty’s RV park. She was so wonderful and welcoming. We loved her so much and the other campers that we extended our stay! Probably the best RV park we ever stayed at. My husband has passed on now and my RV days have sadly come to an end. You have brought back so many fine memories with just that mention. Love you girl.
I live in Loreauville which is in Iberia Parish. Steen Syrup is a staple in my kitchen. We pour it over everything: pancakes, waffles, cornbread, couche-couche, boudin, but my favorite is mixing it with peanut butter for PB&S sandwiches and peanut butter balls. I make this delicious cake from the recipe on the container.I look forward to using your tweaks.
Just found your channel and I just love it! I'm from Baton Rouge and moved to Georgia over 30 years ago. I still have family in Louisiana. I've been missing Steen's syrup and can't find it in stores here, so I just placed an order through Steen's website! I grew up with that syrup and we would eat it with white bread as a tasty treat. ❤️ Thank you for your videos! Where in Louisiana are you?
I will make more steens syrup recipes in the future and will surely tell about their website to order from. Thank you for telling me. I hope you are enjoying your syrup by now. So glad you found me😊
Amy, I lived in Prairieville, La., back in 1967. I think Louisiana has more families that gather outside under shade trees and big old porches on Sunday. I know this because we loved to ride Sunday afternoons just to see people gathered together. Loved it! I still have fond memories of all the friends we made in Louisiana. We all kinda lost contact over the years. I still love them all. I've rambled enough, just wanted to tell you and John I love everything y'all do.
H i Amy just new to your chanel I love your recipes. Can you use a combination of corn syrop and molasses for this cake possably cause I live in Calgary Alberta and I am trying to get sorgum, and this steens syrop and it will take a long time to get it and it is expensive through amazon. My other question is what is the name of the cookbook that you got this recipe, as I like to collect all kinds of cookbooks for new recipes and relaxation. Thnks for all your help it is greatly appreciated Joanne.
Your cake sounds good. Never had one. I think that would be a great idea of questions and answers. Thank you for all your fun videos. I watch them all the time.

Hi Amy! I love your channel I'm an new subscriber and I enjoy watching your interaction with your friends on You Tube and Facebook. The Steen's Syrup cake has been a ICON in our family for many years as I grew up in Abbeville, La. where the Syrup Mill is located. There is a lot of history of the mill and they use to have tours but with the COVID I'm not sure if they still are doing that. I'm sure you can visit the shop to purchase merchandise but I would call before attending. I remember smelling the cane burning in those mills in early October when we had the Dairy Festival, which later became Cattlemen's Festival, as a teenager and it always stayed with me. I use Steen's in everything nearly I cook, from sweet potatoes, sweet and sour smoke sausages, popcorn balls, pies, on our cornbread, and of course pancake and waffles and now they are making Cane Vinegar which is great vinaigrette for salads. I hope you are able to come sometime tour Abbeville, there is a lot of history and festivals. I would suggest eating at Shuck's Restaurant where there is live music on Thursday- Saturday nights and best and freshest Oysters in town. Welcome to Cajun Country!
Vicki what a wonderful story!! Thank you so much for letting me know all of this. I will most definitely call before coming. I’m sure covid had stopped lots of stuff. But I’v sure got this on my list. I cannot begin to imagine how wonderful the smell of the Syrup mill must be!!!!💜💜💜 you’ve gotten me excited. Sounds like wonderful memories 😊😊💜
