It was outdated tech. The new engine is far superior in nearly every aspect, but mainly emissions reduction. The vtec sound was lame in an suv anyways.
I had the exact opposite experience. Seems significantly faster due to the fantastic gear ratios. On paper the numbers are all over the place. Haven’t seen a real, certified time yet.
@@haroldbeauchamp3770 Check caranddrivers. The new one is 100000% slower for sure. They tested a loaded AWD 2020 model and a loaded AWD 2024 model. The main reason for it being so much slower is the new ones weighed 4670lbs whereas the old one weighed 4327. So the new one is 300-350lbs more! Also the older 9 speed ZF has insanely aggressive 1st gear and launch. 2020: 60 mph: 6.2 sec 100 mph: 17.3 sec 110 mph: 22.0 sec Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 6.4 sec Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.7 sec Top gear, 50-70 mph: 4.8 sec ¼-mile: 14.8 sec @ 94 mph 2024: 60 mph: 7.2 sec 1/4-Mile: 15.7 sec @ 90 mph 100 mph: 20.1 sec Results above omit 1-ft rollout of 0.3 sec. Rolling Start, 5-60 mph: 7.6 sec Top Gear, 30-50 mph: 4.1 sec Top Gear, 50-70 mph: 5.4 sec As you can see even without the launch, all the rolling starts are worse. The 10 speed may have better ratios but it seems to be more tuned for fuel economy.

Not bad, just wish they didn't get rid of the vtec
They had to due to epa compliance. It was that or turbo 4 cylinder

@@haroldbeauchamp3770I have to disagree
Old school VTEC sound never gets old. Very fun to drive and hear compared to the newer engine.
You sure it's the V-TEC sound that's lame and not the guy bitching about it? @haroldbeauchamp3770
Honestly the fact it’s slower than the last two generations even though it has a 10-speed transmission is really disappointing.
0-100 KM/hr in roughly 8 seconds, the previous pilot could do it in 6-7 seconds, so this is a bit slower.
Notice how it goes from 1 Mph to 8. In the 2019 pilot it was 1 mph to 9...
Full Tank!
How about some 0-60 times ???? DUH
Feels slower than the SOHC VTEC variant.

@@haroldbeauchamp3770 Certified time on this video. Seems like 9 seconds to me. Slowww.
It is defintely slower. The zf 9 speed was'nt nearly as good as this 10 speed though.
Put it in sport
first run was in sport
Thats slower than my 90s honda stock
Slow
What did you expect, a supercar?
Get a job
