@@PixelRockett It's not something most people pick up on, because not many people realize how the card market is. This may be a bit long but I will try to break it down as best I can. Also there's a TLDR at the bottom. A lot of streamers and such that do pack openings appeal to a younger and more gullible audience. Card collecting as a sort of "get rich quick" scheme more often than not. Some cards are very valuable, and will stay valuable, but the card market is very finnicky. Pokemon especially is downright unstable when a new set is printed. Typically only two, maybe three cards (often the ones with the lowest chances of being in packs) will hold their value over time. The honest to god truth is that buying large amounts of any trading card game product is a form of gambling. Unless you are buying to play or just for enjoyment and casual collecting you are gambling. You are making a financial investment in, for example, a $150+ booster pack box which may not even have any of the highest rarity cards inside. If you are not collecting for play or enjoyment (which many, many people do) you will lose money more often than not. There's two big problems with this being marketed in this way- One is that it encourages scalping and price gouging. At its heart Pokemon is a children's card game and is made for children despite many adults also enjoying it. There's nothing wrong with adults enjoying the product, but there is (In my opinion as a card shop worker) something wrong with price gouging and scalping a product designed for and marketed to children. It is more than a little heartbreaking to see children coming into the store I work at on a weekly basis, faithfully trying to get ahold of literally any product they can just to be able to play the game, and having to tell them we are sold out. We sell out almost immediately every time we restock because the ones buying large quantities the minute it happens are adults and younger people trying to turn packs around for a quick buck. More often than not they don't know anything about how they would even begin to sell single cards, let alone care about the game. The number of parents desperately trying to find even one pack of the new sets as a christmas gift and finding the shelves and hoppers bare was especially sad this holiday. The second problem I touched on already. Card games are, by all technical terms and definitions, a form of gambling. There are things called common cards for a reason- they make up the majority of packs and are maybe worth a few pennies. Packs typically include 1-3 rares and the rest are going to be commons. All of the "secret art" "alternate art" "super rare" "etched foil" extra special cards are even harder to get. You may get one in a pack, and they often replace the 1-4 rares in the pack. On rare occasions you may pull a really lucky pack and have more shiny cards and extra rares, but those are not the standard. People who don't play card games usually don't know those things. All they know is what they see online and often don't realize the amount of false pack openings there are. If you know what to look for you can spot many pack opening videos where the packs have already been opened and resealed. The only motivation for that would be to make sure all the super special cards end up in the packs you open on camera. This creates a false depiction of the rarity. The reality is that you are not guaranteed anything above a regular rare. I've seen people open boxes at the counter, that still have the pokemon company logo shrink wrap on them, and not find a single card with a value over maybe $8. The harsh truth is that unless you are a regular lotto winner or have insane luck you will not make your money back all the time. Even if your cards are valuable, selling them for full value is a task itself. Card stores will never pay full market value. The typical rates are anywhere between 30-60% of what it sells for online. Why? The store has to resell it and make a profit as well. That is business. To get full value you have to sell it yourself, which can take far longer than most have patience for. Putting it up for auction is a risk too. If only two people make really low bids and that's all you get- that's what you have to sell it to them for. Doesn't matter if the card is worth twice or even three times as much. That is the risk of an auction. Sorry to have written an entire lecture, but it's a bit complicated. Also, in case you were wondering- No, I didn't see anything to indicate this was faked, stacked, or rigged. This is just a man enjoying a wonderful trading card game and appreciating even the virtually worthless cards. It made me smile and remember the joy that sparked my card collections. TLDR; Card pack openings are easily faked and marketed as a get rich quick scheme to kids and people susceptible to gambling. Scalping and prize gouging keeps kids from being able to play a children's card game. This is basically gambling. Be prepared to lose money. Man, it's so nice to see a card opening video that is this wholesome (and chill) and not fueled by purely profits or whatever. More people should relive their inner child.
Funny you should say about the last 2 cards having "more weight" than the rest. If they're the fancy ones like your Toy Catcher or Sylveons they're slightly heavier to the point a guy bought packs from my work and then returned them the next day because they were, and I quote, "the wrong weight"! He took them home and put them on bloody scales to see if they had rare cards!
Eh, I saw that same thing over a decade ago with Magic: The Gathering packs, the weight thing. Even if it was so, you would need a pretty sensitive scale, since the differences would be incredibly little, and even then it's not a guarantee. Also, I am surprised your work would accept returns for booster packs.
I remember as a kid at my lcs I'd hand weigh every pack in the box until I had the "best" pack. It felt like a superpower. It was 100% reliable at least 6% of the time. I also had specific rules like I wouldn't touch a box that had already had a secret or an ultimate rare already pulled from it. Ultra's were whatever but if a box lost a secret or an ultimate it might as well've been dead.
For everyone scared he is developing an addiction It could have been worse He could start collecting plastic and resin miniatures to assemble and paint and play wargames and ttrpgs with he'd need another Hitman stream just to buy one Custodes unit

Yes it was I who replaced all the rares with Hypnos! You naive fool, you thought I wouldn't torture your friends as well Daniel?
THINK DANIEL, THINK
VON KARMA NO
For those who haven't watched the livestream, whenever Dan pulled one of those V and Vmax Sylveons the chat would be filled with transpride emotes, and it was really sweet to see. Then he pulled the rainbow Sylveon Vmax and the chat absolutely exploded with gaypride AND transpride emotes! It really shows how accepting Dan's community is, so many lovely people :)
That's genuinely really funny but also so wholesome and sweet, I love this community
Oh that’s just lovely. As a trans man slyevon has a special place in my heart.
That's amazing ❤️💖
god i love this community
Awwwwwwww that makes me really really happy I love how kind eople can be
Dan just gets luckier than most pokemon youtubers
That triple Shiny Bidoof really blessed him
That's how they get you , get good cards in the beginning and you are always gonna chase that felling
Luck of the Irish.
RT is basically that one gacha friend that just started and keeps getting the really good ones.
And he really doesn't know what he has
Literally me in Genshin. Started on Ganyu's banner, got everyone there and somehow got all the limited 5 stars for the next few patches. Didn't get Hu Tao cause I deliberately didn't pull for her but still
@@HazeEmry ok
Dan, you made me smile every time you said "Aw, bless." Made every card seem special. Best pokemon card content I've seen in a while.
I’m so glad we can talk about all the Pokémon cards we opened ourselves off-camera, like an alternate art Mew VMAX
Those sure are some Pocket Monster Cardboarded Rectangles(TM).

Man, it's so nice to see a card opening video that is this wholesome (and chill) and not fueled by purely profits or whatever. More people should relive their inner child.
Had a horrible Christmas this year and this video really brightened my day, thank you both
Hope things improve *hugs*
Awww *hugs*
Oh god, I can feel myself getting dangerously close to getting into Pokémon cards already, and now Dan is pushing me over the edge
I currently have a headache, so watching RT’s wholesome reactions helps a ton. Thanks, king!
@@TheJared38 They weren't opened and the guy still had his receipt, so it checked all the boxes for a valid return 😂
I heard about this first when Kurtis Conner was opening digimon cards and got scammed lmao
There’s someone out there missing a hypno for their set but alas Nogla has them all
i honestly can't wait for a professional poke card collector to review this and just start freaking out
For everyone scared he is developing an addiction
It could have been worse
He could start collecting plastic and resin miniatures to assemble and paint and play wargames and ttrpgs with
he'd need another Hitman stream just to buy one Custodes unit
or a 3d printer and some custom models
I think you might’ve forgotten that he owns like 100 amiibos
I actually used to do that but quit while I was ahead hahaha
@@RTGame which TTRPG did you play?
My pile of shame is large, but I bought the new version of HeroQuest anyways
Oh my God RT is honestly one of the kindest and humblest youtubers on the site. He feels bad for Nogla opening the packs and if that's not a sign of a good guy, idk what is lol
Pokemon was the love of my life as a kid, literally went to preschool with my binder and would have a meltdown if I realized I forgot it at home. Mind you, I had no idea how to play the game, I just loved the pictures. So really, my cards were just glorified paper dolls
I love the energy they give off, “a guy who’s too risky and his hesitant friend”
I had no idea what was going on, I was just praying that RT would get a Wooloo card and promptly got sad when he didn’t
This… this was so wholesome. I haven’t opened Pokémon cards in a long time and this just made me smile and feel warmth hehe
Also the way he kept slipping them in his literal sleeve kept making me giggle so hard 😂❤️
RT is becoming a kid again, and I'm all for it.
first Lego, now Pokemon.
if these cards weren't so fucking expensive I'd totally be collecting them too
To be fair
Pokemon tcg is actually one of the cheapest tcgs to get into
@@MetronaJ i think they mean the 1st edition
@@MetronaJat least 5€ for ONE (1) pack. I’d say that’s still pretty expensive
Nogla was the best influence in this stream :) also, happy holidays, Dan! May 2022 be filled with lots of fun and happiness (or contentment if we are aiming low)
Hi, I don't usually comment but this is honestly such a fun and amazing video. I love watching Maxmoefoe open cards and seeing another one of my favourite people post pokemon cards to just have fun with them, it's awesome.
the weird parts of this - seeing Daithi's face, and him not yelling in absurd rage
If you didn't watch Terroriser's Pokemon video with Nogla, he cracked a Fossil box there too. This man opened $30,000 of boxes NOT EVEN IN HIS OWN VIDEO. FOR FUNSIES.
Never really delved into the Pokémon universe, I know that people get a lot of joy out of it, yet not really my thing. Good for the folks that enjoy, and hope you continue to do so :)
so good to see RT opening my favorite little creatures cards!
I've never been interested in Pokémon cards or the collection community behind it but this was surprisingly interesting and fun to watch
I’m also unaware and uninformed about the rarity and high value of cards. I mean I know like the old cards when they were released back in my day, but all these cool looking cards I’m not sure.
Did he truly pull like super rare, expensive cards?
most of the alternate art eveelutions go for 45-50 USD
@@AskingWalnut4 Isn't everyone freaking buying cards to resell them?
@@makoaki9071 eh, i enjoy both collecting and playing the game. But i can understand why people would be in it for the money with how these go
I've heared theres a shitton of scalping going on with trading cards.
Getting 50 bucks for a card is not as much as it sounds when people already have to pay way more then the retail prize to get the unopened packs.
Gold Toy Catcher and Rainbow Sylveon VMax nets him about 25-27 bucks each, which is quite expensive for pokemon cards that isnt vintage or charizard
The card openings with Nolga brings back memories of when my mom would just randomly buy me old gen packs when I was younger. Too bad I didn't learn more about the rarity until I was older :^)
daniel, thanks for making my year just a little bit better. im currently going through some sickness right now so this was great to see in my notifs. i hope ill be able to catch more streams even with australian timezones and all that.
RT: Starting the video by doing something “new”
Me: I knew it, A HANDS REVEAL
Daithi sounds like my drug dealer trying to convince me to get into more addictive drugs, stay strong dan
I remember my brother and I saving up our lunch money some 15 years ago to buy those packs of ten cards with one guaranteed shiny.
Simpler times.
I can relate to RT as I also didn’t own Pokémon cards as a kid. My godsister did though.
Dan really just fulfilling his childhood wishes. A true role model. I always wanted to just open Pokémon cards because I just thought they were cool, but my parents would only really let me get two or three small packs. Glad you had fun rt!
fun story:
a few months ago i decided to get a tin of pokemon cards for a joke
it had two shining fates packs in it
first pack i opened, which was my first ever pack of pokemon cards i got a shiny vmax charizard, worth over $100
I truly believe that beginners luck exists to some degree
i never thought i'd enjoy a video about opening up these packs would be as entertaining as it was so i'm hoping you'll do this again sometime if your wallet and will allow you of course.
as someone who loves using dragonite, my first edition dratini is one of my favourite cards I own
Seeing the cards Nogla opened was so nostalgic, I had like half of those when I was a child
With the amount of luck with pulling secrets and full arts he just made back the money he spent lmao.
I have never once before this interacted hands on with anything Pokémon in any way, and I feel like an old man that has no idea what anything is, but hearing Dan's voice every time he says "bless" makes this worth watching through
Wow, RT is like the "Lucky Carder" now! :0
Edit: Dan, please play Inscryption! It's a great game but be careful of spoilers! :D
Oh god, oh no.
I hope he opens some Inscryption packs! Those were my favorite card game! (But seriously I would love to see him play Inscryption)
Wow! I sure hope he doesn’t die
aight but where that pokemon illustrator card tho
@@missmako-chan It would sure be a shame if he were to find a card with nearby coordinates written on it hahhahahahhahahaha
I love how when they play games nogla is screaming and insulting Dan but when he’s not he’s giving him thousands of dollars worth of Pokémon cards 😂😂😂 what a love hate relationship 😂😂😂
screaming and insulting is an irish love language 😆
@@hikarinanao ahahah same with Australia 😂 ‘’cunt’’ is an endearing word 😂😂😂
Mans got the Trans-mon, the Trans-mon 2.0, and the Trans-mon: Gay Edition.

Daithi sounds like a dealer trying to get Dan hooked.
That full art original pikachu from the celebration pack made my jaw drop. That old pikachu was my first pokemon card and seeing full art of it blew my mind!
It’s was really fun to see RT open up Pokémon cards and his reactions since I’ve been opening up Pokémon cards for years
RTGame: I will never do a Pokémon card opening.
RTGame the next day: Psych I lied your haircut is fried!
My favourite cards when I collected were all the dodgy looking ones. You know, the fat looking Pikachu as an example.
The chonky OG pikachu is the best for sure
My favorite card is just regular Chatot :). It was my first card I ever got. My brother gave it to me.
@@AleksandarBell my first ever card was giritina. I traded it for a pikachu because I was fucking stupid
@@kirbywithaknifeisawesome6028 omg that sucks :(.
It made me so happy when he said he loved Zinnia as a character.
I actually really love this amateur card opening where none of us knows if it's good and it's just like yeah I like this boi!
7:41 I agree, such a cool character glad we have like 4 new cards of her now
Christ your Irish luck is insane
I honestly can't believe of all the streams that have long highlights, Pokemon is one of them
I love watching the chat freak out when nogla said he spent 15k on that box
The way i wheezed when he got charizard. The one person opening packs that doesn’t want him 🤣
RT kinda felt like the younger brother when Nogla was opening the packs lol
I love that he gets the most expensive card in the classic Celebrations set, and he’s so underwhelmed.
"Look at that, that's a lot of packs!"
Me, a Maxmoefoe viewer: "LOL"
This was very exciting. :) Merry Christmas, Daniel.
maxmoefoe going for months opening packs for that rainbow Burning Shadows Charizard GX, what a saga.
rt your energy here is so lovely and watching this was a pleasure
I’ve been collecting up Pokémon cards for years, and so It’s was really fun to see RT open up Pokémon cards and his reactions
That feel when I've never even heard of 90% of these Pokemon. I have a couple hundred old cards in an organizer somewhere, but I think most of them are gen 1 (like the ones Nogla was opening, and tbh, at least 50 are grass energy cards ~20+ are Oddish), I didn't even realize they're still making them for new Pokemon.
RT needs to do this more, his pull rate is INSANE!
10:01 thank you for this minor positive comment regarding a holo Lanturn, which has been my favorite Pokemon since childhood
Ok… so, when you got the first Zinnia’s Resolve card, I thought that it would be hilarious if you got Rayquaza alongside her in the same pack… and you DID. Well played XD
Hmm, I don't remember the Testament serpent tempting humanity with forbidden Pokemon cards, but I suppose times change.
Rtgames is so wholesome. Truly a gift for us all
Couldnt care less about Pokémon, much less the cards, yet I know what a nuzlocke is and am now wanting to see ALL of the RT pack opening content. Only thing I would like to see if the value, ik it's hard to find a source that doesn't cause drama but having something like TSG up (similar to moistcritikal) would be super fun and you could make this a regular thing. Just an idea!(: hope you had a fun holidays!
