Sorry, didn't mean to sound like that. I think it's just the way the accent sounds to Americans, it sounds as if it has an attitude, but honestly it doesn't, it's just the accent ( ! ) But thanks for pointing it out. John Windsor-Cunningham

It was fun not being able to pronounce my r’s right as a kid so I’d end up getting asked if I was British whenever I met someone new.
Going along with this the r section of this video goes against everything I was taught on how to speak right, so it was quite a mental struggle to attempt.
Dirge I always had rolled r’s, but then my English teacher told me to practice my r and now my English r is just... gone
Same here, though it wasn’t intentional at the time.

This is exceptionally good dialect / accent coaching. Thanks, John! I really your dignity and style!😀🇬🇧
Thanks for very kind words! I still think that - nowadays - an accent doesn't need to be perfect, that all accents are a mixture, and that audiences and friends DON'T REALLY CARE what accent we have: and that what matters is that we speak clearly, with some touch of kindness in our voice, and - if we are actors - with the real meaning BEHIND any lines. That is what makes a star. J.
@@NewYorkActingCoach Wow! Profound I agree that our specific dialect is of little concern compared to the value clear speaking and kindness in our voice. Thank you for you excellent dialect coaching and brilliant observation on what makes us a star, John!

He is a good teacher. I can now do a British accent convincingly.
I’m German and learned to speak in an American accent but ever since consuming a lot of British media it has become very mixed. This helps so much to go for a full British accent
Hmm, well if you ever want a good american accent, just know that he heavily overpronounces the r's.
@@john_titor1 I think that he mostly over-pronounces the letters after the r’s. I’m not sure if that’s true with all of the words though; I’m only through half of the video.
@@zetjet9901 Nah, he definitely over pronounces the r's. It's pretty obvious to a native american-english speaker.
@@john_titor1 he probably overpronounces the rs to demonstrate the difference, seeing as this is a lesson for an English accent, so he was showing the exaggerated difference
I have a North-Eastern American accent and the R thing is what we do here, too. It really depends on where in the US you are from.

@@nadiaramirez9293 You may be able to enjoy it as a hobby, while doing another job, and not have the worries of a thousand auditions, and expensive classes, OR you may be serious for a while but that means working every day for hours on acting BECAUSE you will be competing with others for jobs who HAVE decided to spend every day they can manage working on scripts and getting 'ready'. It is incredibly hard, but if you try seriously then you will find that you can't stand it or that you don't mind the hardship . . you will "know" if you want to continue. Thanks for kind words. And yes, being able to 'enjoy' an accent can make a part more fun to play, and to remember, of course, that nobody nowadays cares about listening to an accent for long, what they want - and you're probably already doing this as well - is to know what their lines really means, that "Good Morning everyone" - for example - may really mean "Don't I look wonderful" ( ! ) John
