  • Hi everyone, we are back for another episode of "Sit and Knit for a Bit on a Sunday."
Although knitting is our passion, our podcast is about more than just needles and yarn. We're designers with a background in fashion, collaborating with Rowan for nearly a decade.
Today, we discuss our latest projects, including fabric design and home renovations.
Living in an old train station in Norway presents challenges, like limited storage and space. We're currently building an extension, adding a much-needed second bathroom and a cozy tower room with picturesque views. This room will serve as a creative sanctuary for Arne, complete with ample storage and a workspace.
Our laundry room redesign is another exciting project. Opting for a simple, functional design, we're inspired by vintage fabrics and DIY solutions. Forget pricey cabinets; we're crafting shelves and curtains for a personalized touch at a fraction of the cost.
Join us as we share our vision for each space and discuss the joys (and frustrations) of home improvement. Plus, we'll update you on thrift store finds and our thrifty approach to furnishing our unique home. Don't miss out on the fun - tune in to our podcast for inspiration and laughs!

The laundry room will be a very practical addition. I have no doubt that with his natural eye for style, Carlos will do a remarkable job with the space . I love the sound of Arne’ s
Tower. Sounds very charming with gorgeous vistas all around. A place Arne will surly make his own mark !!
Thanks for your company on a dreary Sunday.❤xx

You have inspired me so much. I've been watching your videos and you have reminded me to enjoy the things around me. Because of that I have started decorating my front patio, buying new things that bring me joy, and many plants and lighting for a calming atmosphere. I'm enjoying sitting at night in peace out there. In the mornings I'm sipping a drink and reading books again. I've also started crocheting a pillow to go with my new chair. Thank you for your videos and please know you are making a difference in people's lives. Blessings to both of you.

Your Laundry Room sounds awesome!! Even if it is utilitarian!!😂 Arne, why are there Moose in the storage house!! Yes, you must keep everything in plastic boxes, if that is going on! The Log Cabin block can be so much fun. You can play around sooooo much with the arrangement and placement of the blocks. Have fun!!💖

I think Carlos should do a Trompe l oeil painting effect on the new laundry room ceiling…he can get inspiration from the London, England restaurante “ Bacchanalia “ , it would be FABULOUS and unique to their home..Arne could install a “ Cupula “ on the roof of his building extension to give him the “ Tower “ effect he would like…😊

The journal gave me a flashback to growing up in the 60's.. my mom got a magazine called McCalls, and the last page was a paper doll called Betsy McCall. I couldn't wait for mom to finish reading so I could cut Betsy out and attach her to cardboard, and cut out all her clothes! I had a shoebox full 😊

My brother and I are good at renovating our homes within a limited budget. We work well together and between us we can do many things. Hiya Carlos and Arne 😊❤, love that Carlos likes the way log cabin is"dark one side and light the other😊😅"! The orignal idea being that the central square represented the fire and the light side beingthe reflections of the fire in the dark room!! You guys have so many projects on the go at once and knit faster than l do,but l do like doing my silk embroidery miniatures for my 2 baby houses- eventually intended for my two granddaughters ❤. I still have cut out paper dolls from my youth! Loving how excited you get and how you integrate various creations to form blended items. Please do some tours as your home gets it's new additions.Do pet your " puppy" and cheers to all here as well as your good selves.Thankyou for your happy episodes😊. The laundry room sounds great. I am in the process of painting our new house. The previous owners painted everything battleship grey. It is depressing so I am painting the living room and hallway pale green with darker green accents. I painted my studio before everything got here because it was bright turquoise. It overpowered any colour you could imagine. Not conducive to designing.
I hope you will do a tour after everything is finished.

I have a storage space that I'm not allowed to use (attic) because of weight (as if yarn weighs anything...).
And he has usurped most of the other available storage while renovating. Lots of bins that have to be moved nearly every day. It's getting old...
When is renovation 'enough'? As far as I am concerned, he could have left things alone months ago. "My space" was taken away and I'm not getting it back because of his "grand idea" that only he will use.
Living in a construction zone is not nice at all.

I look forward to seeing it. Here in the UK, many years ago there was a retailer called SKOPOS which sold furnishing materials for curtains etc and I bought some great fabric from them to make curtains and cover cushions etc. Alas they are no longer there. I am watching on a Sunday while the wind here whistles loudly outside, too. Your 'Frozen' story reminds me of when - sometime after the original movie release when it became available to stream - my then probably 2-year old grandson suddenly belted out his rendition of 'Let it go' with so much passion the veins in his throat stood out. It was very dramatic. :) To this day, the song brings that memory to mind and a tear to my eye.

Like here in Australia. They want $2,000 odd for 2 sliding doors for a built in wardrobe. I made my own pulley maid. We installed an Ikea overhead wall cupboard for our laundry. As the kitchen company wanted another $2,500. Was that spelt Kilim? As they are a rug pattern traditionally from Serbia and surrounding countries. My ancestor was a Huguenot from France in 1689. Is that a UK treble or a US double crochet? No-one in Australia stocks your yarn as far as I know. Arne can you do a tutorial on the joining and how you do the in between panels between the squares. As Im not a crotcheter.

😂 “No Viking hospitals. They probably just gave them beer or mushrooms.” Silly Arne. So many projects, so little time. But you’re never bored! Great podcast boys.

Percal is the plain or basket weave. Satin wefts float over sever warps which give it that smoothness.

Good afternoon from a tiny town near Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, USA. The sun is out, but the wind is chilly.
It’s always a pleasure to hear your thoughts on the myriad of topics that you discuss. Crochet? Knitting? Other crafts? Home renovation? It’s all good! ❤
I am knitting a round hot pot mat(done in short rows) as part of a wedding gift for a childhood friend/now-coworker of YoungestDaughter. I am using a worsted weight cotton yarn called Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in the color “Beach Ball” (a variegated of orchid, white, turquoise, dark pastel green). I love how the colors self-stripe themselves. I will be making a bigger one using the same pattern with 2 strands of the yarn in Orchid with bigger needles.

I love your shows. I love crafts and yarn. I crochet 95% and knit 5%. You two are the best. I’m thinking about becoming a paid group member - because I need my fix on you two !!! Haha. I enjoyed the cookie baking at Christmas time

Will the Pyjama Gardeners be back soon? Would it be possible next year to have a daily series from May 1-17, with each day showing a particularly Norwegian craft, food or custom?
