The Best Dunker NOT In The NBA! Jalen Lecque Stunted Growth

  • Why is Jalen Lacque not in the NBA. In today’s video I’ll give you 3 reasons why in my opinion he’s not, but also celebrate one of the best dunkers today, that they don’t talk about enough. There’s also a lesson to be learned here, on how much it takes to actually get a job at a place every young athlete that’s shot a ball through a net wouldn’t mind having a career at. It’s not just about how well you shoot, or play defense, or how high you can jump that’ll determine your fate. Jalen Lecque since the first time I saw him play in high school had what it took up to that point to have a great chance not just making the NBA, but being one of the most exciting talents seen in a while. Yes there’s been amazing dunkers at the point guard shooting guard position, but there’s something about how this guy jumps and dunks that puts him in elite category of any era in that regard, then forces you to ask the question, why isn’t he in the NBA full time and one of the best young talents at 22 years old the league is excited about? He came into the NBA straight from prep school and was not taken in the 2019 draft, but soon signed for 4 years by the Phoenix Suns 2 years guaranteed. He played in just 5 games for the team 2019-20, then 4 the next season after being traded to two teams in less than 10 days, ending up in Indiana. Most of his young pro career spent in the NBA G League. Here’s what happened to Jalen Lecque since his bouncy high school days, and 3 reasons he hasn’t been able to carve out a full time spot in the league.

    This kid (he’s grown now obviously) grew up on the same street as me. He has a great support system and his family always backed him going to the league. He would play all day into the evening hours during the summer. Hope he still makes it to the NBA.

    He and Jaylen Hands were bonafide studs in high school. I for sure thought both would at least be role players in the nba as the lowest expectation i had for them both, while leading a franchise like Ja Morant was my ceiling expectations of them. They still have time but each day that passes, the smaller the chance of them reaching levels i had expected for them years ago.

    He should have gone to JUCO, IF his pencil is not that sharp.
    Honestly, highlights have given SO MUCH to some players, they get the big head and think they are SUPER special. And make the wrong decisions.
    A dunker is special, BUT having a consistent 3pointer or Midrange game will keep you in the league.

      @johndavis9321 Рік тому

      Yup the highlights and mixtapes R cool but it's being able to do the boring stuff making jump shots, making lay ups as a PG making the correct pass an not just always passing for an assist knowing how to run an offense knowing how to play out of the pick and roll this stuff usually doesn't make it onto mixtapes but this is what u need to be N NBA player

    Please do Petteri Koponen. As a Finn i'd love to see him on this series.
    He was drafted, and had a rocking career at Euro-basketball. He was maybe even bigger talent than Lauri Markkanen, certainly bigger than Hanno Möttölä, who made it to the league. Was it the lack of NCAA career, was he just good enough or was he just at a wrong timeline for Blazers?

    • @leetorry
      @leetorry Рік тому +2

      He doesnt seem to do much or any European players unless they are very publicized. Cant blame them since it must be a bit harder for him to get more info about the behind the scenes for europlayers, that and its to easy for him to say the same stunts.

  • @CM-ft9ep
    @CM-ft9ep Рік тому +6

    I saw him play in high school when he was at Brewster Academy. He did a windmill in the lane from a standstill off an offensive rebound, it was impressive.
    But he REALLY could not shoot and had very little feel for the game. Just ridiculous athleticism but wasn't even the best player on his own team. I'm not surprised he hasn't seen much of the League yet.

Not very strong, which he can work on. But u can’t out athlete the most athletic people on the planet. Not a great playmaker. Naw. He’s fun to watch against lesser talent but I just don’t think he has ‘it.’
