I appreciate the video but this is not a tips & tricks. This is a walk through on how to make Linux Mint looks like MacOS, which is fine if that's your thing, but the video title should reflect that. The only useful part of this video (for tips & tricks) is the ending @ 17:50 with the keyboard shortcuts.
Title should have been tips and tricks to make LM more Mac- like, which is OK for me as I am an ex Mac guy now Linux Mint, who won't touch Apple with a 50 foot pole but still like aspects of MacOS. This was very useful. Thanks.
Thanks for watching. I really just wanted to hit home that Mint doesn't have to always be for folks coming from Windows. Linux can be whatever you make it. That's why it's special.
This is a great video with excellent verbal instruction. I came across this video when I was deciding if Linux was a suitable replacement for Windows for me. The video I watched on how to install Linux Mint and this video helped me decide that Linux isn't that scary. My old HP laptop is loving life again and I've just finished the setup using the video. Looks great.
Excellent video...I've just installed Linux mint 19 on Acer 5920g...laptop will not enter bios or boot...pressed all the button combinations...dead laptop...any advice would be much appreciated.
A quick search shows F2 should be the key to get you in. Sometimes DEL or F10. Some things to try: -Pop the battery out, press and hold the power button for 30secs. -Connect an external keyboard -Check to see if your keyboard has a function key, will normally show as "Fn". If that's the case, you'll want to press "Fn" down while pressing F2. Thanks for watching!
This machine im using some one left it for dead its over ten years old i took it and installed Linux Mint on it works great ...just one glitch bumps me off and goes to login screen once in a while
Tried Linux mint cinnamon for first time, loaded fine ran for 10mins then screen went black , tried fresh restall never fixed it. sadly back to windows7 until i can get windows 10 again. oh and doesnt support usb 3.0
@@TheLinuxITGuy I can only imagine how slow that laptop was for its previous owner. When I got it, it only had 4GB of RAM and ran Windows 8 on a dual core AMD CPU. I upgraded it to 12GB RAM.
@@TheLinuxITGuy I actually did it on 2 laptops: the the dual core AMD HP unit I mentioned, as well as another HP laptop that has a quad core Pentium N3540, if I recall. That one needs some hardware repairs, because some idiot (me), damaged the power switch and track pad ribbon cable when it was taken apart to do upgrades. I ordered new parts, so I'll see if it runs Mint faster, and put a lighter distro on the other one. I did jump the switch, so I know it still works
Please make narration more conscise, continous (writing script is handy!) and please do use your voice. Barely audible. Video clarity is fine, on the other hand, that's good.
@@TheLinuxITGuy Quite some things improved in your newest video. You take things seriously, my friend, lovely to see. I'm glad you didn't take my initial comment too hard and understood that it came from a good place.
That's interesting, because I like the voice. It's clear, ok, but laid back: so in two ways better than many a UA-camr. OTOH, although I like the general style, once I saw that Beach was the choice of wallpaper, I knew this particular video had nothing for me.
I am reaching out to you with a request that I believe aligns perfectly with your expertise and skills. I've been grappling with LMDE recently, and I've been searching for a comprehensive tutorial to guide me through the process Because im newbie on Linux. Given your proficiency in this area, I was wondering if you would be willing to create a step-by-step tutorial for me. Your clear explanations and thorough instructions would immensely help me grasp the concepts and master the techniques involved. I hope you're doing, i never stuck because im pro on Windows.. just tried Linux 5 days ago.. I've been thinking about helping newcomers in, Linux mint Would you be willing to create a newbie-friendly tutorial? It would greatly benefit those who are just starting out by providing them with a comprehensive step-by-step tutorial. Since you're skilled in this area, I believe your input would be invaluable. and i never find any tutorial as step by step. Like Manual partition, what is swap, root, like which kernel is best choice for new users customization etc there are tutorials but not as one in complete detail.@@TheLinuxITGuy

This was more of a 'setup and customization' video rather than a 'tips and tricks' video.
Thanks for watching.

Just a tip for Plank. Ctrl while right clicking anywhere on Plank brings up settings for Plank
Oh man, I struggled so bad trying to get that options menu to show haha. Thanks for the tip!
Nice, I like it. But some pngs with a transparent background would have been far better as icons for the web apps.

Awesome! So glad you decided Linux. Mint is a great OS. Reach out if you have any questions. Thanks for watching.
Awesome! Thanks a lot for this one! I'm a mac user that switched to mint, so this is really great to "ease the mac pain" a bit :)
Glad it helped!

Can we get the ubuntu panel with good looking styles in linux mint?
You could dock on the left side and change the thickness if you wanted. MATE allows for different layouts as well.

Yikes no usb 3.0? 😬
What are your hardware specs? If newer, maybe give the edge edition a try.
Can I use cinnamon dynamic wallpaper extension in linux mint mate?
Never tried that.
great video!! thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
I'm trying to follow along, but my laptop that runs Linux is so painfully slow that the software manager hasn't finished loading yet
You can always pause the video. On a slower computer, I'd recommend you go for the XFCE version.
I get you, although because of that I use the xfce version, overall it's pretty good, although it doesn't have any applets

Linux will extend the life and performance for sure! Nice upgrade.

Thumbs up . This helped me :)
Awesome! Glad to hear that.
I have no idea to change the login screen to look like Mac style .....how to do ?
In the Login Window settings, you can change the background, theme, and icon. Thanks for watching.
Wish Plank was still maintained. It is a great dock that works great but it has issues with me and so I stopped using it.

The wallpaper was very busy, I agree. Thanks for watching.
some cool tricks
Thanks.
Thanks. I subscribed. Just speak up so us old people can hear. 😅
That's the number 1 feedback I've gotten. Definitely will do! Thank you so much for the subscription and the feedback.
you should change title of the video - dress linux up in mac os :-) other then that good video mate
Thanks for watching.
Thank for the video. I hate anything Apple. Thanks for the stuff that wasn't that.

So tips to make your os look like Mac...
Thanks for watching.
your voice is so loud you nearly depth me
Audio was my biggest feedback a year ago. It's gotten better :)
Stop going into a whisper.
My sound is better now. Thanks for watching
Lost the will to live watching this some guy just mumbling away !
Sorry about that. Audio has improved since then.
I thought the video was good. To each his own.
