Brilliant and very slick!! Did you know that Neofetch is no longer being developed? Fastfetch acts the same but is a lot faster and still supported. Great work mate.

Thank you so much. Yea, I’ve used fastfetch before. Once it goes mainstream I’ll probably switch over. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@TheLinuxITGuywhy not just use FastFetch and add a system alias to have neofetxh launch it?

You should definitely add to the script an option to disable mouse acceleration on XFCE!

As a 72 year old first computer Apple IIe, Win 3.1, Mac OS, Windws XP, Mac OS again, Win 10-11, then loaded Linux Mint on wife's 13 year old MacBook Pro (i7, 16GB, 1TB SSD) and it brought it back to life. Got an old Dell and turned into a Linux server of sorts. Saw your Video for your script and said, FINALLY!. Installed and everything works. Thank you for your help and keep up the good work. Don't think I'll ever go back to MacOS or Windows as everything is faster and better than windows. I didn't even talk about how it sees two network printers and 2 wireless scanners without a hitch. I love my Mint!

I never heard of Stacer until today when you mentioned it in this video. It looks like it should be a standard system app for any Linux distro.
Edit: Add swappiness... I never heard of that either. Thanks for the new knowledge!

Windows is more gaming & commercial office than anything else these days.
I used Linux Ubuntu 12 on an old PC to give it a new lease of life many years ago, the PC lasted another 2 years before it gave up (15 years old XP machine).
About 2 weeks ago, I wanted a home PC which was not Windows as I've been wanting to get away from them for a few years, especially with the privacy issues around Windows, they may have backtracked, but I believe they are honestly postponing it. Additional rumours are they will be implementing ads and pop-up ads in Windows 11, which will interrupt all applications. If you do not want the ads, you have to pay a subscription.
I got a 5 year old mini PC, new SSD, reapplied the thermal paste, installed Mint, which was blocked by Windows from being install on the existing SSD, hence new SSD. 8 years of not using a terminal, back to learning all those things I have forgotten. Hooked up to a projector, steam films even use the office suite. Will take sometime to get used, but in the long run will be worth it.
Additionally, the mini PC is 70w against 1000w, then again that is main gaming PC, so having something with a lower power consumption would be beneficial.

This is brilliant. Maybe, create a way where you can read a configuration file, then that would populate with more Script options for some of us to add our own stuff. Because I sure would love to setup my system like this, because I am new to Linux. But, I can see the great benefits of this. Honestly, it shocks me that more people don't have a setup-system like this. Stupid not to.
    > Say, have it read something like a CSV file. All you are doing, is grouping a particular application line -- 2 things: text to see and script name, then grouping it to the Tab Name and GroupBox.
    > So easy to just automate a lot of stuff, and you could have 10+ tabs at the top. And, many people could start suggesting things to add to it.
    > Many people would do this, and make Linux setups so much easier. Especially, if you had it were they could just edit a text file to configure this themselves ... super easy.
And, I thought about doing this myself, once I become better at Linux. But, I thought of a menu system with numbers that I would run. Because I can't remember all of the different command line arguments now or applications (say GParted versus Computer-Management, like in Windows). So, I was planning to have a command line app that I run (like "myp" for my-programs"), and then I would slowly build that out and make it easier for myself.

This is like what CachyOs has right out of the box when you install it. Its called Hello CachyOs. So it gets you everything for gaming, then the whole package manager, kernel, bluetooth. rank mirrors, fixes, dns, spoof/dpi, update, clear cache, reinstall all packages, something that sorts if you have bad connection, browsers, you name it
Its pretty handy going over to Linux for people. I remember when I started with linux. My god, that was not an easy task :P

Im going to be keeping an eye on this Toolbox, but it is similar to the Linux Utility from Chris Titus Tech. That tool runs from the terminal, is distro agnostic and written in Rust.
All that said, choice is good. Its nice to have options.

@@TheLinuxITGuy Thanks! After 25+ years of using various Linux distros, it's nice to see some of these post-install tools coming out.
One feature I'd like to see is to be able to disable asterisks in the terminal when typing a password. That is my #1 pet peeve when using a Mint system, and normally the first thing I disable.

User should have the option (if both are available) to choose flatpak or system install. I had a bad experience on Linux Mint 21.3 with Audacity Flatpak. With version 3.6.1, a bug was created with the auto-height resizing of the waveform. Randomly, the waveform can disappear when zooming in/out. When you go to full-screen it appears again, but as you zoom again, it can randomly disappear again. So, you constantly have to full screen and normal size the program's window over and over again, making it infuriating! Thankfully, the system install of Audacity in Linux Mint 22 is 3.4.2 and solved that problem.

Please excuse my ignorance of Linux as I am new. Is there some kind of config file in Linux. The reason I ask is because I can't get my sound working on my Panasonic toughbook CF-19ZA813DM laptop, i got the sound to work but not over Bluetooth or after I reboot the system. I did a fresh install of Linux Mint 22 on a 1tb Samsung 850 pro sata ssd and my laptop has 16gb of ram. Can you please help me? But please don't just tell me to check the forums because I have already.

      From: www.linuxmint.com/rel_wilma.php
Linux Mint moved to a new sound server called Pipewire.
To check which sound server is running, use the following command:
      inxi -A
If you're unable to get the sound working, you can try to go back to the older sound server called PulseAudio.
      apt purge pipewire pipewire-bin
      systemctl enable --user pulseaudio
      sudo reboot
