    The piston might be a bit uneven on the bottom so the mix thats coming in goes a bit smoother than all at the same time, doesnt explain the exhaust side unless it is just made like that so there are no issues if you flip the piston the other way

    How does this piston option compare to the 660 piston you did before? Thanks I love your enthusiasm and when I get in the game I’m going to be a customer! Also, what state are you in? Thanks

  • @kraftzion

    Looks like the ring is closer to the top of the piston. I can infer from your porting rule #1 video that this gives you more timing to play with?

    Does anyone have a 500i wise co piston I can buy?!?

    Would this be a good upgrade along with port and polish work if your main objective is to put on a longer bar and not lose power. I don’t want to bend over any more than I need to and I want more power in general. Also, how is the saws longevity affected?

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Рік тому

      I'm with you 100% my man and I will definitely give the finished product a good workout... my ported 500i videos are almost always bigger cuts bur this is all I had available.. wish I had 80 acres and a pile of the biggest test logs in the Midwest lol... I can tell already just from building so many 500s its going to be a game-changer... I will eat my words tho and let you guys know if it isn't 😬... as far as long-term use I have heard guys say they don't like forged pistons and all kinds of nonsense but I have personally built saws with wiseco pistons 4 years ago and they are still running... and thats in legit work saws... did a jonsered 2172 with a Dominant wiseco 372 piston and its used professionally and the guy really doesn't take care of it like he should... I replaced the ring this summer and the piston and cylinder were great still... really was impressive... I think it was 2.5 seasons in Minnesota where it can be snowing one day and a heat wave the next so its an extremely tough environment... thanks for the comment 💯

    Roughly what % increase in performance do you think that you’ll get from “just” their piston?

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Рік тому +2

      I realize now I should have compared it to a stock saw... in part 2 I will definitely do a head to head... with this piston you have to machine "deck" the cylinder so it depends on how tight you go with the squish... I know that's a vague shitty answer but honestly I didn't compare it so I am just guessing it's gotta be 25%... that log is like concrete and a stock 500i with the same bar and chain drags a little thru that test log... good question I kinda blew it not comparing but I definitely will 💯

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Рік тому +3

      100% I don't know Jack personally but I know him thru friends and other saw builders I trust and he's legit... does very good work and I honestly think he does some of the best 500s out... I don't say that lightly either... seen a lot of "ported" 500i videos that are not impressive but his are awesome 👍

      @@elijahmcgregor9193 np man... he may be doing some sort of hybrid build as well... his 500s sound like my 660/500i hybrids and they are the only other 500s i have heard that sound like that.. i could be mistaken tho so dont hold me to it... but i do know hes a great saw builder... if hes too booked out you can try Robin at Triple S Performance Saws he does the same builds that i do i share info with him... hes not as well known but he does really good work... good luck man they are really a different animal after they are done right.

      Jack Beeler of Hotsaw101 is a perfectionist, his saws are fantastic. Send him a email, be patient he’s very busy, custom saw builder extraordinaire! Goes without saying John’s attention to detail is outstanding.

    I would enjoy the videos more if you didn't talk with your hands as much. Like when you are holding the pistons, just hold them so I could look at them instead of shaking them back and forth. Good video anyway, I came into it with the opinion that the forged piston was not worth the money. This video changed my mind.
