Lyrics
I can feel the earth begin to move
I hear my needle hit the groove
And spiral through another day
I hear my song begin to say
Kiss me where the sun don't shine
The past was yours
But the future's mine
You're all out of time
I don't feel too steady on my feet
I feel hollow I feel weak
Passion fruit and holy bread
Fill my guts and ease my head
Through the early morning sun
I can see her here she comes
She bangs the drums
Have you seen her have you heard
The way she plays there are no words
To describe the way I feel
The simultaneous birth of Britpop and Madchester in one album. The Stone Roses were utterly brilliant.
You are absolutely right.
Britpop should not be mentioned with actual music.
the sound track to every happy moment you've ever had.
George Conn ....and many future ones to come
I love this comment.
2nd all of the above
Best comment ever
True !
Simply one of the greatest songs ever written
I hear you hologram,I see you too.
Have you seen or have your heard? 😃
You definitely have not heard many songs then boyo 😲🤔🤣😂🤣✨
YES!!!
Agreed 👍
In the Summer of 1995, I listened to the Stone Roses' "She Bangs the Drums" while watching MTV. Awesome song! 😊
Walked into a little record store in Tulsa Oklahoma in ‘89 and this song came on. I left with the cassette not knowing this would be my all time favorite life changing album and the song that most sums up my eternal love for the Roses.
I was the same brilliant band old school
Same !!!
I was 18 and a friend was playing the album in the 6th form common room at high school. I walked in halfway through 'Waterfall' and was 'woooahhh!! what is this ??!!' Totally hooked from that day to this. Best band ever.
I'm hoping u seen them live😎
Had the same experience in Bristol in the UK in 1997!
This album was not only huge, it was perfect.
Still is
The perfect album isn’t possible unless you define your terms. But this one was pretty damn good.
Not a bad song on it. Just don't mention the follow up...
Mic dropped!
@@treborschafer3945 the follow up was amazing.... You should listen to Breaking Into Heaven and Driving South
Without the stone roses oasis would not exist
I recall an interview with Ian Brown and Noel Gallagher, Noel said, " I'm pissed off cos his band was better than mine, and Ian's pissed cos my band took off and his didn't " . Great comment.
Nice
But the Stone Roses did take off?! They just weren't as commercially successful as Oasis. It doesn't mean they didn't "take off", they just crash-landed too soon.
True but The Stone Roses formed before Oasis.
@@jadenthemusicfreak Yes and? The point remains the reason The Stone Roses didn't become bigger after Fools gold was the length of time between that and the second coming a period of drugs and infighting. That's the reason. Anyway they did help lay the ground for Oasis too...
@@billcummings6265 There were endless record label problems from my recollection.
British life is shite now but in the days of the Roses, it was ok to live here and the music was amazing. Nice times with my mum and family always stuff to do. Loved being a kid. I was little then and every day was an adventure. My family would always have this stuff playing..so many memories..
My best times as a youth in Britain were during the Queen, Ledzeplin, Genesis era of the seventies / eighties.
Life is quite shite most places right now.
Fuckin madchester was the best time ever in my life 🎉
Nice one boys

Would legitimately say one of the best songs of all time

Thank you England for the most amazing music and singers ever.
God Bless England.
I always wanted to go to Manchester as a Canadian who didn't resonate with North American bands, to see the place that inspired the music I loved (Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, Happy Mondays, The Roses etc. ) Then I met a guy from Manchester who told me "Nah mate, don't go, it's a shit hole"!

One of the best songs of all time, hands down.
The British are coming.

I am in my fifties. Just heard this 2 weeks ago. Brilliant.
i can't even begin putting into words the fantasies, memories and feelings this song makes me go through. It's an experience.
To me it was a perfect time to be 18, music scene was alive, the British girls were pretty and the little fella's were pure as fuck 🥳🥳
Gives me goosebumps just thinking your comment 97 kid here😭

If anyone ever asked me how to describe what it’s like falling in love, I’ll probably just tell them to listen to the chorus of this song...
That's exactly what I thought, too.
Great coment!
Preach!!
Here we are 30 years later and it still sounds fresh. Hugely underappreciated Stateside.
Michael Beckenbach amen brother, from Scotland here it sounds unreal like u say fresh
Michael Beckenbach Amen!!! I’m from Manchester and these guys, the smiths, oasis etc were the music of my childhood ♥️
Good ol'you having such good taste. Greetings from Wales 🏴
The sad fact is that most people in the US at the time had never, and never would hear of the band or their music. The only way you knew of them is if you had a connect to college radio or a local modern rock station. It wasn’t until the mid nineties that even clear channel put bands like Oasis, Blur, Elastica, Radiohead and The Verve on their playlists.
@@stephensmith7126 Guitar Hero 3 put this song in the bonus section. Props to the creators for wanting to sneak it in there.

this song sounds like what pure joy sounds like
Summer 1990 I was living in NYC with a friend who heard about this great band from England had an album coming out stateside. He buys it and we spend the whole rest of the summer getting stoned and obsessing over how incredible the music is. I listened to it almost every day for a year.
honuman39 I wish I was you that summer.
And all the way through, not a bad track on it.
It was the same for us in the U.K.And you would always lose yourself in the extended instrumental in I am the Resurrection

Probably my favorite song of all time. Never, ever, ever gets old.
If I had to describe what the song sounds like: It's the soundtrack to the most gorgeous person walking into a room and your world turns to slow motion with tunnel-vision. A adoration at first sight.

This video has been up for 5 years and only has a million views? For one one of the most gorgeous songs ever written? What the hell is wrong with the world?!?!
+gianttoadstool Bieber, Swift, Minaj, etc.....
+djaceman123 I heard some Swift songs once. Crap. I tried to listen objectively but...crap. Something went wrong in pop music, and may never get fixed. Too much autotune. Too much production by too many idiots. They have tools people 20 years ago could not have dreamed of, and don't know how to use them or something
+Michael Bauers Something's gone horribly wrong, that's for sure. My boyfriend has a record store and we are quite pleased to see how many young people come in looking for The Beatles, The Ramones, etc. Anything from the 1960s-1980s. I really haven't heard much worth listening to after the 1990s.
It's because this younger generation is a bunch of politically correct, no guts having pussies! And it shows in their music. This world needs an overhaul.
+Michael P definitely... they obviously don't know great music
After much deliberation I,ve decided this is my favourite track off all time.
+david hopwood you are my favourite person of all time sir!

absolutely no question this is my face same as u guys what's all the fuckin thumbs down fuckin knobs come on June
One of the most innovative and influent music band of the 90s and beyond. Respect from Rome, Italy
I used to listen to these guys on my headphones in history class in 1989, everyone thought they were shit. I guess I was ahead of my time. Great band, so glad I didn't listen to anyone at my school. Stone Roses forever!!!! Now every fucker is into them!!!
Same here...listened to them in art classes as a 15 year old...also Inspirals, The Charlatans, The Farm, Happy Monday’s...my mates thought they were all shit! Imbeciles!
You had a good ear for fantastic music. Yep 🙄they all jump on the bandwagon eventually.

a, born, as cool as fuck

Are you even British???? .. this song ... and the entire album were the soundtrack of a whole generation growing up in the late 80's / early 90's here in England .. no one here would ever use The Stone Roses and Shit in the same sentence
This song is absolutely perfect, Not mentioned enough in best of the 80's collection. There are few songs this incredible
Greatest debut album ever without any doubt.
Yeh right! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 The Lame Roses were utter garbage
When the best song ever made is free to listen to on UA-cam, we live in great times
@@LoftusRD1882 I’m just happy because this exists. That’s all
It is such a tiny miracle of a happy song. That said they took one of the happiest most life affirming pop songs ever and made a music video where half the time the band members stand around looking slightly bored.
Can't win them all, I guess.
So I am 50. My music in 80s and 90s consisted mainly of metal and gangster rap with grunge thrown in. So I totally missed this band at that time. It was through going a 80s nostalgia kick on YT I stumbled across this band. Better late than never.
Magic in a bottle
The band of my teens!,,and when you find out your teenage daughter sneaked off to their gig at hampden last week!?,,never a prouder moment!
Excellent, great to know she's inherited Dad's taste in music :-)
I was over the moon to discover my teen daughter was into these too. They bring back great memories of my teen wayward years 🤗

How much pot and paper must've been consumed?! Glory days I'd imagine. Hope they're still going strong!
The video in slow motion is a touch of genius
We had so much good music in the late 80s and early 90s. Crazy.
i think this is the best Stone Roses' song ever made

Waterfall and Sally Cinnamon come pretty close too, but I'd have to go with She bangs the drums too!
Nah Love Spreads in my opinion :-)

Few things in life are perfect (like coffee and the Beatles), but this is song is perfect.
The Stone Roses have always been hit-or-miss for me; I like a fair bit from their albums, but this is my favourite track. Such an amazing song.
This music chilled out an entire generation
We were all happy. That’s what I remember from those times. Happy as fuck

this album was perfect and this is one of the best songs ever made
Melodies to die for. Tragedy they didn't do more.
The Stone Roses’ music takes me to a place I wish I could go back to…
Without doubt one of the greatest songs of all time
This song is utterly soaring, Squire and Brown at the very summit of their powers.
How many rock songs spend 2 minutes ascending and then boom, explode again? These boys wrote immense choruses.
One of the best songs ever written.
Born 74 . This song means alot to me growing up and brings back all them feelings of being so incredible mellow ❤
Born 51….honestly ! Love the Roses, love most live music, have seen most of the great bands live. Live and love music ❤
im 51 years young. one of first albums i had on cassette and definitely
the best. if you dont like the stone roses you dont know tunes
A story here.... ok so i was a 15 year old kid living in New Zealand, the year was 1990. My older sister who was living in Manchester at the time(our family are from Manchester originally) she sent over a cassette tape in the post with this and some other indie bands on it, it was the very first time i had heard any stone roses, i was obsessed with music at the time, you could tell straight away that this was a classic song the first time I heard it, it had a cool 60s feel to it but with a modern interpretation. I'm now 45 and living near to Bury, north Manchester, time goes quick
Wish I was around in the 90s
I was there .hacienda. was just something else
Wow memories brilliant times seem so far away now
MANCHESTERS FINEST ...ABSOLUTE CLASS
the opening verse in this song is just the best
I have played guitar hero again recently. Today this song has been stuck in my head. Just about 45 minutes ago I learned that my grandma had passed. This makes me think of her. I can’t describe the way I feel.
I purchased this record at the time it was released because I liked one song. What I found out later that this is one of the best albums released in rock history. Thirty years later, I am still listening to this masterpiece.
One of the last great bands of our time, truly unique in their own category.

The sound track and beating heart of Manchester indie. Unbeatable.
Indie Anthem of Indie Anthems.
Does exactly what these are supposed to do: "To describe the way I feel".
Love the bass in this song. Then the guitar in the background and bass during the chorus reminds me of British bands in the 60’s.
a TUNE of EPIC proportions
There are no words for this kind of genius, the immortal SR.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this as a flawless, perfect song. Full of swagger, optimisim, a joyful youthful spirit. "Kiss me where the sun don't shine, the past was yours but the future's mine, you're all out of time". Perfect rock n roll poetry.
HOW COULD I FORGET THIS SONG
One of my favourite songs of all time 😍😍😍
This song is perfection, a flawless masterpiece.
This song was playing in my head when I was waking up from a surgery. Best memories ever...
No one captured the feeling of pure joy like the Stone Roses. I get a tear in my eye at how good this is.
I love how during the rock era, you could just wear one shirt for a year or two, and you'd be good. It gave you that distinctive look. It's like when Robert Smith had a pink shirt. There was a whole phase where you only saw him wear that shirt.
Best Roses tune for me
Best band ever to come out of Manchester
R.I.P. The Stone Roses: 1987 - 1990. Like Ian Brown said about the Stones, the Roses had 3 years when they were red hot. Turn the 'One Love' single over and as the aptly-titled 'Something's Burning' fades out, you can hear the magic of the Roses being consumed by fire
I'd say 1989-1994
2017 back roses

My brother bought an old VW Beetle, in the cassette player was this album, that was about 30 years ago and we still love The Stone Roses.
An absolutly banger. My favorite Stone Roses song, and one of my favorites of all time. Needs to be considered an "universal anthem". The last chorus... Man, that part makes me feel like i'm flying to the whole universe, feeling his power. The record is, without a doubt, one of the greatest of all time and a timeless piece of music. From Argentina, long live to The Stone Roses.
Heady days indeed, wonderous times, friends became better friends, new friends became life long friends, the sun shone, music blasted on every street corner, what a time to be alive, young & in love

I listened to this album as a teenager in Mexico CIty and it blew my mind only matched by Ok Computer.
My missus just asked me what my favourite tune of all time was and I put this on for her full blast. Always makes me think of having a smoke with my mates down the park when I was a kid, endless summers with the sun always shining. Perfect

Ian really liked that T-shirt! Possibly my favourite Stone Roses song...gosh this makes me feel old. Their debut album was released on my 19th birthday, I bought it on audio cassette so we could listen to it in my friends car and my walkman. I remember seeing them on The Other Side of Midnight, possibly only a few days before the album was released. Nearly 30 years ago!
