What’s going on with that red qt50 in your garage?

Hey jack, I would go with a 74 jet and see what happens. Speedo cable has seen better days. I've done other bikes with 70 cc and I've used 74 jets on them and worked great. Good luck.

Spark was stronger after I got rid of the key switch. I think it’s good now.

Someone must have also engaged it earlier in its life given the bent frame. ha ha

Nice scenic ending to the harrowing cross-country short-cut to conserve the little bit of gas left! Good work on figuring this one out. Can't wait to see how you narrowed it down.

I'll do a video on that but in short, I tested spark again at the red/black wire coming out of stator. Test light lit up. So I'm looking at that red/black wire and think, that also goes to battery and to the ignition cylinder. So I test at ignition cylinder connection with ignition cylinder unplugged and it lights up. I test at battery and it lights up. So I'm thinking, we are getting charge/voltage throughout the entire system (unless I'm missing something here) so does the ignition cylinder not work always? At that point, I just make a wire to loop the red/black wire connection where ignition cylinder plugs in and it runs better than before and without excessive smoking. Also more to the story, fuel flow ended up being poor and the culprit to it "running out of gas". It was just using more than it was supplying. I told the owner and let him know to either flush the tank again and/or clean the petcock or add a new petcock.

Ha! Nice shortcut!!! How did you trace the spark issue back to the ignition switch? I’d imagine that took a bit of sleuthing.

I tried the kill switch and after unplugging it, there was no change. So I was in the general area and thought, well, what if I just jump the black/red wires in the ignition plug. Sure enough, spark came back.

actually, that wasn't how I figured it out. That may call for a separate video.
