So many good things here! Nice job! I use a dremel with a cupped wire brush to scrub the bowl. Really gets the grit/rust/oxidation off. Loved the polishing of the seat. A dental pick will pull that gasket off, too. Probably best off leaving it in place, though. If it’s not really broken…..something something.
I had a clogged choke passage, i checked this out to see it jad to ne cleared, and the tiny passage next to the emulsion tube had to be cleared with wire from a bread bag twist tie. I have a 78, and was getting a sputtering run, burning rich. Can i ask, if my bowl gasket is bad and cant get a new one, can i use feul resistant permatex to spread a new one on? If im careful i dont use too much so it presses in the bowl. Thanks for the video, it certainly helped me clean my carb, and get all the passages clean.
@@poughkeepsieblue if you can’t get a new one then you’ll have to use permatex. I’d imagine you’d have to let it set up for awhile before screwing the bowl on.
@@jackrutherford-1 thanks, ive used it before, so i know how to let it tack, and go thin on such a small part. But im pretty sure Homda doesnt make them anymore, and i wouldnt trust a used one. Thanks for the advice, and again, thanks for the carb cleaning video, im sure if i run the bike, ill have to clean the carb 5 more times before it runs well, since it hasnt really ran in 30 years. Its a work in progress, and a labor of love. Thanks again.
Certain carbs are screw in type. I'm not sure which ones. The non- screw-in types can still be removed. Emulsion tube is supposed to come out but I rarely try for fear of damaging it.
I noticed that on my 79 na50 it doesn't have the o rings you mentioned, and I looked at the parts diagram on my shop manual and it doesn't show them. Todd luck with it.
Would you know a good aftermarket carburetor for my na50? I have one but it doesn’t work, meaning that it runs on choke for a few seconds and won’t rev either. I think the jet might be too small?
@romeparrilla8307 0 seconds ago nice video,i do have a Honda Express nc50 with a missing stock air filter.i could never find an after market cone air filter with a 25mm carb opening,i did found one but its too small,i want it a bigger one.most of them they sell on line were 28mm and up,any idea?thanks...
I once used berryman b12 chemtool carb cleaner helps jets I rember watching your original video you'd shine a light into the jets to show they are clear also it you can find them welding tip cleaners work wonders
Yes, I should've shined a flashlight through them to check. I'll look into the welding tip cleaners. I noticed when I put the carb back on the bike that one of the studs was unscrewing as I tightened the bolt. I bet I've got an air leak there. Stay tuned.
@churioz26 yes ! I've had that issue ! I ended up having a stripped out bolt I tried two nuts and ended up replacing the bolt the studs longer now so getting the nut on is kinda hard , haha
Ugh...you make it look so easy, my 81 express SR only runs while sprayed with starter fluid. Are you near Chicago to take on another ? Does it need a battery to run ? My battery is toast
I'm in Columbus, Ohio. It doesn't need a battery to run but Honda wired them so that the battery connection completes the circuit. On the SR, if there's a four pronged battery plug, you have to use a jumper wire between the lower two prongs to complete that circuit. Running without battery will blow the headlight bulb and tail light bulb though.

I usually dig at grime stuck to bottom of float bowl with a chopstick or pick but I like your Dremel tool idea better. That's a good one!
Well done, Ole chap!

Does the emulsion tube and jet come out of the earlier carbs (77-80)? I believe the jet is not a screw in type if I recall? Great info!!

I'll check out a parts diagram. Maybe there are none.
parts diagram at Babbitts online shows o-ring on air/fuel mixture screw only which would make sense.
@@jackrutherford-1 I agree with you on that im wondering if my Honda express has them now occasionally it runs erratic, I’ll look into it.

You can get a set of micro drill bits and drill out the pilot jet slightly wider.
@@jackrutherford-1thanks jack, I’m trying to figure out the jet size for the carburetor.

By chance do you have any suggestions for a carburetor or where I can get one
