- For those who are curious as to what lies beneath the surface, what was going to be a part of the game's content line up, but never saw the light of day. In tonight's documentary, we shall cover what never made the cut, what lies within the game files for the rest of time, as well as learning why, as to some of the content featured here, never made it, due to the games swift and unfortunate discontinuation...

I wish that Popcap/EA could’ve at least finished Iceberg Lettuce, but them running out of time due to the discontinuation makes sense. Still is unfortunate that the roster is uneven and the game got discontinued.
Even if the game wasn't too well-received, they should have added her at least.

Chilling aura
Primary weapon is a shotgun weapon that shoots 5 ice chunks that each apply chill and 10% freeze progress, meaning at distances where all projectiles connect, only 2 shots are needed.
Ability 1: Chilly pepper
Place a chilly pepper in front of you to make a wall of ice spikes that spread left and right until it hits a geometric wall. Ice spikes can be destroyed individually.
Ability 2: Deep freeze
Create a medium explosion where you are, dealing minor damage and instantly freezing any undead s-- dumb enough to go near you.
Ability 3: Snowball blight
Root yourself in position to rapidly fire lobbed snowballs that grant 15% in freeze progress per shot.
There’s no doing anything while frozen so happy trolling the braindead basher mains. Oh wait…
This game had so much potential. It's too bad the developers didn't care for this game.
i’m honestly sure they somewhat cared but they did a horrible job at executing stuff and planning ahead (not to mention how much they left us with silence)
The game was also buggy and janky, meaning the game was rushed and the devs didn't had enough time for polishing and making the game overall better unfortunately.

I honestly loved the game to me it competed with garden warfare 2 as I consider both as competition to eachother it was honestly quite good.
The game devs loved the game. However there were so many UA-camrs who uploaded hate videos which caused a lot of people to not buy it, so the devs didn’t have enough money to keep working on the game.
The berry brigade sounds like an interesting character concept, in that you (possibly) sacrifice parts of your moveset and turn them into abilities that do large damage
For me and my brother, Iceberg Lettuce not making it to the game was the hardest blow.
I feel as if they were originally planning to make oak a much harder thing to get while using acorn, like a more difficult legendary mode for gw2, this would make having op damage and abilities appropriate and would explain the unused legendary upgrades for him being so busted. Most likely wrong but it's just a thought I had.
I would've loved if the game still had continuation, as we would've had Iceberg Lettuce in the game, more balancing in the game and probably a few of the leftover legendary upgrades like the Disco Peashooter or the Sky Trooper-like Soldier.
It got bad reviews because people expected it to be a garden warfare 3 when it was supposed to be it’s own game

The Sunflower Upgrade Was scrapped just because produces an extreme lag due the amount of Sundrops it produces
I'm surprised you didn't cover the updates planned for the ops gamemode, in which you could have summoned additional AI to help you like GW2, as well as building turrets and barricades using the blue stars currency...
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO COOL, I actually might still play the game every now and then with friends of they added that, I feel so terrible for this game being swept under the rug and losing support so fast, if we gave it more time they would have given us so much more. it was kinda their fault for the mistakes they did make, but they were gonna fix them eventually, big rip to a game I was so excited to play lol
summoning additional AI would've made that Rose Ops mission far less irritating to complete, so them scrapping it was a huge blow
Some of this stuff would have been really cool to see if it ever brought into the game.
Well I guess the only hope is a GW3 for some of these things to potentially come true.

Love this video, the music choice was perfect because this video felt like it was going over part of an iceberg or going over the dark and twisted backstory of the game.

Such a shame what happened. I personally was fine with the game despite its flaws. Yeah, the hype wasn't as big for me as GW2, but I'm a sucker for any PvZ Shooter. The fact we were so close to the Plants getting another class... it hurts the most. Now the Zombies have more classes than the Plants.
Playing as iceberg lettuce feels great, the physics of her ball are very satisfactory

I actually heard somewhere that Cabbage pult was intended to be added as a playable character. I don't remember where though.

All we can hope now is a new shooter pvz game, but for now we have to wait for EA to make up its mind for once.

I have just realized that had the game not been discontinued then Iceberg Lettuce would have been released in whatever winter-themed party they were planning for December.
I swear I'm the only person who still plays and likes this game.
BfN Is actually the only PvZ shooter i've played. I haven't been able to play the GW games because I don't have any form of playstation/Xbox & Don't want to risk Melting my pc By running it that way.
Iceberg Lettuce would've been fun and matched out the number of playable plants with the number of playable zombies. but alas, it's forever gonna be left in scrapped content purgatory because PopCap and EA didn't want to give it a chance at flourishing
Now, this is making me sad and angered because these devs at popcap vancouver who don't give a dogwater about this game just end support without releasing the remaining left content. This is super sad!

I think I know why there was an older build of turbo twister and the bolt blaster because there is a weekly mode where you only have the 3 og characters from gw1 and then they tried to perhaps recreate them like they were from the very start of the game but not sure

That's just the worst thing the game was canned before it could get better.
In my perspective of the old buildup of Turbo Twister is because they wanted to see if the Garden Warfare 2 turbo twister ability actually looks like in the BFN game so they try to test it out but due to the limitation of the ability not actually be as accurate from Garden Warfare 2 because the turbo twister and Garden Warfare 2 had like a damage resistant in that one and that kind of effect doesn't exist in BFN which makes the player disencouraged when using it so they had to scrap that idea and remodel the turbo twister, I may not be Associated or a part worker for PopCap or EA but I do have some theories or answers about why the unused content were scrapped from the game
This game still has a genuine good amount if players even on switch currently i enjoy the multiplayer in hopes theyll revive fhis series

If only BFN wasn't so janky, most of the unused content would've been seen in full glory. I didn't like the game, but it's sad seeing it's unused potential.
I hope that the game somehow (somehow) manages to return in the mere future... maybe someone might aquire the rights of BFN and turn it into a better version of itself
I thought this game was great. I don’t know why it’s so hard for everyone else to like it. Obviously not everyone in the world is going to like a certain game, but I think this game failed because the people making videos gave it a bad name. They control what people think, and since they didn’t like it, it formed what everyone else thought about it. But I’m not a sheep and I didn’t care about it’s “issues”. I think it was a fine game and I’ve had hours of enjoyment with it. So sad to see all this not get added. This game should’ve lived at least another year. It had so much love put into it and so much potential. Rip bfn

Nah man, I just dislike the game it feels like the other PvZ Shooters, but it's a lot easier, and they removed most of the modes in multiplayer, and the majority of kids who can't read and edgy little teenagers who shouldn't even have the ability to speak to other people that play this game just ruin the experience for me. But I guess the single player is okay. It does kind of get repetitive though.

It's tragic really, a game that got killed by poor decisions and balancing. Doesn't really help that it didn't even gave a good first impression for the community due to removal of variants and abuseable mechanics *cough* sprinting *cough*.
The game wasn't really that bad tbh but it's a game that no one asked for but it could've been more, not GW2 level of hype but you can see that it was made with passion especially singleplayer and the unused content.
This game went out with a whimper and sadly no one is going to remember its moments. The only moment they'll remember that it's just a game that just exists.
Me personally, I would’ve made the unused peashooter legendary upgrade, the first unused soldier legendary upgrade, the berry brigade, the iceberg lettuce, return the hovergoat from GW2 and separate wildflower and tv head into different prize maps so that half of the prize maps would have a new character and the other half would have a new legendary upgrade
Am I the only one who likes the PvZ BFN Robin no Good skin on 80’s action hero and wished for the costume to actually make it to the final game?
To be fair the biggest issue with the game that I knew would effect it, I was just unsure how much so, was that before BFN’s release ea had laid off and transferred a lot of the garden warfare team so when they had to come back together for BFN they were essentially screwed over
You forgot certain unused playable characters, like a playable Super Bean and references to 5 more (such as a playable Squash, Cabbage-Pult and a Mini Gargantuar) in the game code.
Apparently money is important than fanbase
If they cared about the fans they would've made gw3 or made bfn much better. Also its pretty obvious that EA was behind most of this

there is also antoher unused boss named the super chilie bean, an unused super bran class and an unused potted plant called the ice shroom

Imagine if a team of people could actually take almost all these unused assets, and make a huge update/mod for PC that would be a community version of BFN
I think The Preserved pastures map was a Team vanquish map because the Turf Takeover maps have a team Vanquished counterpart.
It could also be a free roam region since FRR have the Team vanquish map.

tbh the game has picked up quite a bit more traction now adays, from barely alive servers per week for switch (I play switch) to Full Servers almost daily now. So I do hope Popcap picks back up their ways and make this game updates.
Hope to see these get added in a New Shooter or maybe even an unlikely BFN Content update that no one expected (though more likely the former TBH)
0:50 how did a foot soldier attack and deal damage to an all star?
It was a bug back when the game first launched, essentially the team swap glitch (which to put a long story short, allowed you to have a zombie on plants and vice versa)
So the Giddy Park golf course thing at 18:57 actually goes a little deeper than just ground textures. In this video of NM Gaming's ua-cam.com/video/qfn8LAhIvwk/v-deo.html there's actually a "Golfer" gnome who's purpose wasn't entirely clear when it was found, but now one can assume that he'd be part of that unused course.
This is why bfn is a bad game
1. Many people hates the game because of no variants(even didnt tested the game and also making the player base aways low)
2. The low player base makes the game a little dead and makes no many profit and the devs didnt makes the game so well like the realese

Both sides are sort've at fault for BFN's downfall.
The community for constantly leaking it as well as bashing both the game and the devlopers, and popcap for making undisclosed bad decisions (ie, neglecting damage drop off, poor communication in patch note etc), as well as making the alpha testing open for anyone to join (which ended up being the reason why it leaked and spread like wildfire).

i hate how the community treated this game, it was amazing in my opinion but everyone whined that it looked weird and had no variants. this is my favourite game of the 3 and i hate how it was left in the dust and its mainly the communities fault from rushing the devs and complaining all the time.

2:22 Uber could be a reference to the medic, another healer character from tf2. He had the ability to deploy Uber Charges on teammates via his medibeam
1-the gnome could Just be nerfed and done

I think the bolt blaster in this game was supposed to be the turrets back in gw1 where they might have been able to place them down where ever, there is a chance you can here the zombie turret play when you place down the bolt blaster, they even have the same time and damage of the old attack
There are technically six legendary upgrades in Battle for Neighborville, two of which have been in the game since launch but not actually made into legendary upgrades.
Those two are Blossom and Party Time.
(Honerable mention to Uppercut, since that used to cost the same amount of points as legendary upgrades)
Party Time is honestly really, really lame, compared to literally every other legendary upgrade. Even Uppercut is cooler than this.
Basically, it works like a crappier Combat Aura, where you get a damage buff upon getting a certain amount of kills. But you don't actually get the aura that boosts your allies. The cost is pretty ridiculous, because if this was cheaper, it would've been good with upgrades like Homing Pea. It makes sense why this isn't considered a legendary upgrade.
Meanwhile, Sunflower has a pretty good upgrade called Blossom. It allows you to heal more plants with multiple heal beams at once. This is very good for pre-fights or healing the injured more quickly. Now THIS is a proper legendary upgrade.
So, if you included all 6 legendary upgrades, this game would have a roster of around 15 plants and 14 zombies.
Still an unbalanced roster, but then again, you may not consider the glorified combat aura as a legendary upgrade. (I wouldn't blame you tbh)

Do you plan to make a documentary on every scrapped upgrade in BFN? I ask this because you said every character had at least 2 scrapped upgrades and I want to know what non legendary upgrades Rux could have been selling.
Making a documentary solely based around the unused upgrades themselves wouldn’t exactly be sufficient for a video of their own. Some lack info on stats, some lack video evidence, and some according to notes, don’t actually seem to do anything and so I’d have to speculate/guess.
They would be given their own dedicated chapter when I get to revisiting the unused content in bfn, given how many of them there are.

The game was ok, I kinda liked the feel of the game and it would of been cool to see what they would of done with it given more time. At the same time though the game was fundamentally flawed, they just changed too much from the previous garden warfare games. You know the saying if it ain't broke dont fix it.
I liked it...but i just thought it was a worse,more generic game than gw2,a phenomenal game.

From the beginning of BFN I was unhappy to see that there was no backyard anymore. We only have Wildflowers and TV-Heads fighting each other (Bounty Hunt would replace them with hero classes) But i get why. Imagine one Side the Players abuse the AI spawn to have multible Bosses on thier Side and the other none because giddy park can also be played online. And it would be even more unfair because AI always uses Base Stats in giddy park, so they will always deal the exact damage thier weapons have aswell as having base Health with no difficulty configuration lower or upper ther stats. So AI would be pretty harsch.
it's sad that BFN was made for make fast money with the hype, it was like a baby was born dead, it not have rejubalidity like they're brothers
